Very unprofessional front desk staff. Great food at restaurant. Room was average, very clean, but nothing toi rave about. This place is a classy dump, Le Meridien across the street is a lot better...

Hire a driver from the hotel. They will take you to every site in Giza and/or Cairo in a air conditioned modern vehicle. The price is very cheap and well worth it becuase you can fit so much into one day with a knowlegable driver.

Perfect location for visiting pyramids
The Hotel is very nice and clean. Pools are great with lots of space around, playground, nice pool cafe with great food/drinks. Deck and pool has a perfect view to the pyramids. Rooms are huge with big balcony, fridge, excellent bathroom, you feel like home. The hotel is in walking distance to the pyramids and other restaurants, supermarkets, also for the sound&Light show at the Sphinx in the evening. There are always local taxis waiting outside the hotel if you want to drive into Cairo city, much cheaper than the 'friends' from the hotel and Hertz company inside the hotel. Perfect stay to relax and see all the attractions and have a comfortable hotel. Best choice, great value for money !!!

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Don't use the taxi service from the hotel. They charge you 5 times the normal price and also drop you off at places with horse and camel ride tours run by their mates even though you asked them to bring you to the main entrance of the pyramids. They also lie to you that you can't go there on you own and it is 8km walking trough the desert, which was not true. Pyramids are 10mins walking from the hotel or take a taxi from OUTSIDE the hotel.

Nice hotel great location
The location of the hotel was close to the pyramids the rooms were a little tired but clean (there was water leaking out of the walls and getting the carpet wet. I told the people at the front desk but they just shrugged it off It really was not that big of deal !) The hotel staff were very nice. The restaurant and the bar were well run. The city of Cairo is a very dirty and crowded town (cairo makes tijuana look like a health spa) and I would certainly never go back. I have seen the pyramids and it's over. But the hotel experience itself was good.

The hotel 'Sofitel Le Sphinx Cairo, El Giza, Egypt' is in a good location, within sight and a mile or two of the major pyramids, but they lack some basic amenities, as well as basic quality and service standards. No bottled water in the rooms despite signs saying the tap water should not be drank. - Smoking is allowed in the restaurant / breakfast area as well as throughout the reception area, so no getting away from it. - There are minibars in each room but, I was told, none of them have anything in them.

great location, close to the Pyramids
I had a great room with a balcony. The hotel is very nice, within walking distance to the Pyramids and the Sphinx. Lots of restaurants within the hotel. The rooftop restaurant is great. Staff is friendly to deal with and the nightclub in the hotel is fun (although it starts very late).
