Laid Back, High-Quality Beauty on the Nile

I'm not a fan of large, fancy multi-national hotels -- they just feel too impersonal. So I choose this hotel because it still had a 5-star rating but was not part of a big chain. It was lovely in every way, with a beautiful spot on the Nile, goreous swimming pools, lovely grounds, good (but not necessarily outstanding) food, and friendly service. I would probably categorize it closer to 4-star than 5-star, because the rooms, while extremely large and nice were not exactly luxurious (shower but no tub; sheets were nice but not 400 count, etc.). But that in no way diminished our enjoyment! Also worth nothing that I had booked a Nile-view room, but had to request 2 room changes before getting a room that actually had a good view (even though the hotel wasn't full and there were plenty of rooms literally hanging over the Nile that were available). But I find that is not unusual when traveling in Africa, no matter what star hotel you are in .

Lovely garden setting

The gardens surrounding this hotel are amazing and are worth staying there just for the peace and calm as a retreat from the bustle of Luxor. It is attached to the more famous (and expensive) Winter Palace and shares the gardens. The location is very convenient being right next to Luxor temple and across from the ferry to the West Bank. It is very popular for families so there are lots of kids around using the pool and in the restaurant. The rooms are very nice, though ours was too hot and we had to exchange for one with less sun exposure. Evidently they turn off the A/C in winter. Our main complaint was the overpriced wireless ($15/hour) and only one public computer terminal for the entire hotel.

[...]The hotel shows a lot of signs of wear, but the staff was very caring and professional and the rooms are great. Theming and details are superb. The restaurants are wonderful and the ambiance is palpable - very british and you can almost feel Howard Carter in the gentleman's club.

Everything went wrong and they don't care!

Everything from my check in, internet connection, poor room service food quality, freezing room with broken AC unit, missing breakfast, the list goes on and on. I brought all of these issues to management at the hotel and with the company and got no response. It ruined the last night of my trip, left me exhausted after no sleep and lighter in my wallet! There are many better hotels in Luxor to chose from, don't go to this one!

Sicher eines der besten Hotels in Ägypten aber relativ teuer; sehr gutes Essen; super Poolanlage in herrlicher Lage; sehr freundliches Personal; Zimmer etwas klein und wegen kleiner Fenster auch dunkel; einziger echter Schwachpunkt ist der sehr beengte Parkplatz.

The Sofitel in Luxor was promptly located no more than 10 minutes from city life and around all the great sites. Staff was super friendly and all the ammenities made our stay absolutley wonderful! Recommended!!

This is a great hotel, with very private rooms and a quiet location. It was a bit far from the bustling city, if that is what you are looking for, but the services and the attention couldn't get any better. I tried three different hotels during my stay in Luxor and this one was by far the best.

場所はルクソール神殿の近くで、ナイル川沿いの道の１本裏です。スークや駅へも徒歩圏内ですが夏場はとても暑いので５LE程度ですのでタクシーに乗っても良いでしょう。部屋は広く、お風呂はバスタブ・シャワーもありタオルも完備。石鹸もあります。お湯・水の出具合・トレイの調子どれも良かったです。ハンガーのたくさん入ったクローゼットや冷蔵庫もありました。ベランダから外の風景が見れますが、ナイル川が見えないのが残念です。トイレットペーパーが最初から２個置いてあるのも良心的です。朝食はビュッフェ形式ではなく、「オムレツとフルーツが食べたい」というようにリクエストすると適当に作ってくれます。私は６時と７時半に行きましたがどちらも私しか利用者がいませんでした。チェックアウトは１２時、朝食は６時から９時です。

Stayed in this hotel for 2 days. They have some good facilities such as swimming pool and disco which is oftern filled with underaged egyptian men. The service in the hotel was not the best had no city ap was just handed in a crappy photocopy, the bartender tries to charge you for more drinks you have had and carries no change and no possibility of using credit cards. I would recommend this place for people who do not wish you stay in the hotel all day as it is cheaper.

Best value for money in my 3 week trip.
Very nice looking hotel, good service, rooftop pool and affordable restaurant/cafe with views over the nile to Hatshepsut's temple.
Great location. Our room had a balcony with view over sphinx causeway and Luxor temple.
Good breakfast and wifi included.
Found cheaper taxi drivers on the street than offered by reception. But be prepared to haggle a little for that.
I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone

The Emilio (Domina) Inn is in a great location. Only a few minutes walk to Luxor temple and the ferry terminal for getting over to the West bank to see the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut, Valley of the Nobles, etc.
Rooms are medium size and come with a fridge and balcony so you can sip a cold beer in the sun and plan your next day.
Staff are very friendly, the pool on the roof is clean and you get a great view of Luxor Temple and the Nile. Karnak Temple is a 5 minute taxi drive.
My only issue with this hotel is the street noise below. But if you get a room on the 5th floor upwards you should be ok.

I switched to this hotel because it was more centrally located. Big mistake. Not only did they not have my reservation, but even after showing it to them on the computer, they asked me to get a print-out before deciding to assist me. Finally, they gave me a room that faced the noisy street, was not well lit (light bulbs missing, had to call the front desk), and didn't have enough outlets to connect chargers, etc. The carpet was ancient and torn in sections, the fridge didn't work, the bathroom was moldy, and the bed was rock-hard. When I complained the next morning and requested to change, they wanted to charge me nearly 30 more Euros to upgrade me. Maybe other rooms rate it as a 5-star hotel, but compared to others in Luxor, I'd say this is a 3-star hotel. The other two they must have obtained in a raffle. In addition, except for a young assistant manager, the staff was not nice and/or helpful.

The cleanliness of the room was pretty bad and the interior old. The bathroom was clean and seemed newer than the interior of the room.
Nice lobby, bar and pool-area right at the bank of the Nile. Too bad though that two cruise ships blocked most of the view of the Nile.

The food is of a high standard and is very reasonable. This hotel is clean, neat and simple and not unattractive and offers all the facilities expected of this class of hotel.
05/01 This is a modern building constructed in cement and painted pink with balconies to the front and rear of the building. There are also several shops on the ground level of the hotel. The hotel is located 15 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes from the centre of Luxor, across the road from the Nile riverbank.
