Grand Hotel Univers

Shower is smaller than an assistant's desk area (1.5m x 1.5m no kidding). Not a place to stay long term, but hey, it's very good priced. Maybe choose this hotel and spend most of the day by train to Eze, Monaco, St Paul village etc, come back to shower and sleep only. Staff are friendly.

The keyword for this hotel is CHEAPThe room was small, old and musty. Bad lighting, no phone and really nice for 1980. I could hear all that was going on in any room adjacent.The very worst though was the staff. On arrival there was no help with getting our luggage out of the car (and since there is place to really stop around there, this is a big deal), they just pointed us to a "nearby" public garage. So we ended up walking 4 blocks with all our bags.When we wanted to buy a drink from their vending machine, we were told "!!NO CHANGE!!" even before asking (needless to say there were no mini-bars in the 1980 rooms).And to top it of, we were charged "city tax" on leaving (every other [...] reservation seems to include that, but not this grand hotel). 3.60Euro per room. I wasn't going to argue for an amount like that but annoyed since this is clearly a scam to make some more money. And to add injury to insult, they could not give me any change. Did they give me 0.40 cents extra back? No of course not, I had to eat the difference "we owe you" the great staff was telling me.Note that the above complaints about the staff are three different people, not a single incident.This hotel is in a good location but so are many other hotels, I would avoid this like the plague.

We enjoyed our stay great location and breakfast was good but overall standard was average for value, compared to the other 4 hotels that we staying in during our holiday.

Overall, a great location. TV had a couple of english channels. Room was clean, but there are no views at all. The parking is three blocks from the hotel, and there is no where to stop to remove your baggage, so if you have a lot of bags this is a bad choice. If you stop the car even for a moment you block a major bus lane and the drivers will not be at all forgiving. So you have to houl your bags three blocks through hot crowded streets, and the parking is 15 euros a night, so budget for that. Other than that, it was ok, and there is free wifi that worked with a vista laptop.

Hicimos un viaje a la Costa Azul y decidimos utilizar a Nice como punto central para dormir. Ciertamente la ubicación del hotel es privilegiada, a unos pasos de la plaza mas turistica de la ciudad, asi como al lado de un boulevard con los mejores restaurantes, frente a Galerias LaFayette y a unas cuantas cuadras de la playa. La habitación Superior es perfecta en tamaño y decoración. La relación precio valor es justa.

Points positifs : l'emplacement, la propreté, les équipements de la salle de bain, la TV Points négatifs : le wifi qui ne fonctionne pas bien (coupure toutes les 5 mn et mauvaise réception depuis la chambre (obligé de se déplacer dans le hall) + le petit déjeuner pas prêt à l'heure (7h), pas super pour quelqu'un qui est pressé !

l'hôtel est très bien situé (à côté de la place Massena) et a des chambres bien equipées. Les chambres sont propres. Seul point faible est le petit défeuner. Café soluble inbuvable, jus d'orange avec gôut de plastic, confitures bizarres. Il est conseillé de prendre le petit déjeuner dans un café en ville.
