Rooms

Location, Location, Location this Hotel does not have it.
The information online said multi-language speaking staff. Not true only one staff member knew very limited English, so, I was on my own and away from everything. Thank God they were near a metro. The neighborhood was bordering on bad, so, I did not feel safe coming back after dark. The hotel was very noisy. If you plan on sleeping between the hours of 12:00 pm and 4:00 am--good luck. I'm not sure why they have staff there at night, because all they did was make a lot of noise--banging, slamming doors, smoking, talking loud, and playing loud music. I actually had a comfortable bed even though the room was small, stuffy, and my window did not open.

Not Applicable
Buy a metro ticket and skip the Hop on Hop off tour--you can probably do without any tours or the Paris Pass. It would be cheaper to buy tickets at the places and get their by the metro. The metro is safe, clean, and filled with other tourist.

The hotel is perfectly located in the Bastille quartier. Rooms are modern and lovely designed, staff very friendly but the bathroom could need a proper cleaning. All over we had a great stay! Thank you and happy New Year

Nice colors nice place!
I really liked the hotel and especially where it was located. It was a bit outside the tourist areas (east of Bastille) - it was more in a residential area which I prefer. And because of that, there were some really good restaurants around. Plus there is a Metro station right around the corner, which is a great and easy way to get around Paris. As for the rooms. When I first booked the hotel, I read a lot of reviews about the place. The biggest complaint I read was that it had paper thin walls. However, I did not hear any of our neighbors. But since the doors were heavy, you can hear people opening and shutting them. But otherwise, the noise level was at a minimum (except for the one night with some drunk girls outside!) As for the size of the room... like all boutique hotels, it was small, but manageable - very much like NY hotels. The bathroom was also small, but the shower was great! It had good water pressure and a waterfall-like shower-head imbedded in the ceiling!!! But it did get the bathroom a little wet all over. They did clean the rooms everyday. The bed was comfortable... really, if you're in Paris, the only reason to be in the hotel is to sleep and shower. The only thing we did not do is eat their breakfast - complete rip-off! As mentioned, there are plenty of restaurants and bakeries around, you will find plenty of places to get a good breakfast at a fraction of the cost at the hotel. It's definitely a hotel I would book again!

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Go around the hotel and check out the restaurants around. If there is one you like, please make reservations... so many of them are packed at night! If anything go the night before and see which are filled, it will give you a good indication on how good it was.

Decent Hotel, Staff Not So Good
The hotel is nice and a convenient location but small, and some of the staff was a bit rude. The shower flooded the bathroom and into the bedroom area, and when I went to ask for an extra towel to clean up the mess the man at the front desk was very unhelpful and blamed me for causing the flooding and was reluctant to part with even a towel.

Good location within 15mins walking
Good location within 15mins walking of Basille and onto Marais. Very clean, fresh and contemporary finish. Good sized room. No tea / coffee facilities in room though. Also very noisy first thing when cleaning commences and I doubt there is much acoustic insulation between rooms as you can hear most things. Minor gripes though and all in all very pleasant and reasonably priced place to stay.

I stay there three nights in April
I stay there three nights in April 2009. Hotel full of antithesis. The good things are the light colors, the modern design of bath equipment, the electrical lights and its relatively good location. The bad things are the small rooms (at least that I used), the coridos too narrow, the price is rather high and the worst of all is the lack of drainage system at the bath floor. The shower has no any separation from the rest bath and unavoidably the bath floor always floods.

Fantastic shower!
My friend and I stayed on the 4th floor of the Color Design hotel a few weeks back and had an extremely enjoyable experience. The room was not too big but proved to be extremely comfortable for the two of us. The bed was fantastic with plenty of big, squashy pillows. Loved the plasma tv and iPod docking station. Favorite part of room was definitely the shower, which had EXCELLENT water pressure with a nice hand-held option in addition to the in-ceiling showerhead fixture. Slightly strange was the clear bathroom door, but it did not make too much of a difference for us. One negative about the hotel was the soundproofing - could hear people in room next door. BUT, the price, location (tons of bars and restaurants nearby), cleanliness, modernity, and helpfulness of the staff countered the soundproofing issue. I would definitely stay there again.
