Not a spot for romance

I chose this hotel because it was a great value and got really good reviews. I knew it was in Paris' red light district but wasn't prepared to be on such a busy street, right next door to lights flashing and pictures of naked ladies, with drunk men making crude gestures at my boyfriend and me. It did not promote the romantic feeling I was hoping to capture on the trip. The hotel itself was good enough, but I broke out in a wicked rash after sleeping on the bed sheets! My boyfriend was fine, so I'm not sure if bedbugs or my sensitive skin were to blame.

Very clean and nice staff.

Hotel Chat Noir was a great place for my mother and I to stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and all spoke English very well. I was mostly impressed by how well maintained the hotel was. Our room was spotless every time we returned. The linens were clean and comfortable. The room is small but sufficient. The bathroom was spotless and it had a modern style. The downfall of this hotel was the lack of amenities and the thin walls. I would not recommend it for families with children and if staying there keep in mind that your neighbours hear everything. I would go out of my way to stay at Hotel Chat Noir in the future...but I may pack a pair of earplugs.
