Intimate Paris hotel near the Louvre and Tuileries Gardens

Parisian grandeur meets Parisian intimacy at this Normandy Hotel, a 117-room property across from the Louvre and Rue Saint Honore. The Belle Epoque hotel holds a place in the city's past as a place where English clientele gathered for cocktails and conversation. Historical touches remain, from the carefully restored Napoleon III-style ceilings in the on-site Italian restaurant to the gorgeous antique furniture in the guest rooms.

  • Across from the Louvre and Rue Saint Honore
  • Fully restored hotel that once entertained English clientele during the Paris Belle Epoque
  • Il Palazzo restaurant with Napoleon III-style ceilings
  • Buffet breakfast and Wi-Fi

Don't book here

How in the world did [...] rate this hotel a four star? That rating caused us to book, and what a sad surprise when we arrived: filthy room, shabby furniture, broken air conditioner, no iron, coffee maker, glasses, etc. etc. We complained and did get an upgrade which was merely adequate; but it would be foolish to count on that.

below average hotel in good location

This was a 4 star hotel that would only achieve a 1 star rating in Ireland. Its rates did not reflect the standard of the rooms or the lack of facilites available to guests. The hotel did have a good location and the staff were friendly. The rooms were outdated and in severe need of updating. The bathrooms need to be completely gutted and replaced. If I stayed in this hotel with my wife and children I would have been extremely disappointed and left.

The room was small but no smaller

The room was small but no smaller than what we were expecting. Everything worked and was very clean. The staff were very helpful whenever we had any queries. The lift was surprisingly small and this would be the only point that may cause some concern - but this proved to be the norm for all of our European stay.

Great location, poor accommodations

The room was a great size, but there was nothing in the room (i.e. cups for tea, glasses for water, etc.). Compared to another hotel that we stayed at in Paris, this one was far more expensive but lacked all the details. Being an American, I am used to ammenities, but having lived over in Europe for two years now I am used to the size and comforts of rooms in Europe...and this one fell short!

Only achieves 4 star rating thanks

Only achieves 4 star rating thanks to its prestigious location. Otherwise this hotel is extremely shabby and rather sad. However, if you accept that French hotels can be an extremely variable affair you can afford to look on it kindly as "shabby chic" and, quintessentially, French.

Honeymoon

- Come here for the location only. Its great. - Staff is not rude, but generally unfriendly, unhelpful. Overheard two clients complaining at front desk at different times, both about their rooms, none of them was helped so both left early, one got super upset. - ROOMS ON THE PICS ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM REALITY. - Piano in lobby is good to have, totally untuned though. - For WIFI, go to the lobby or bar and connect to Normandy.

Perfect location

The location is perfect. 200 meters from the Louvre. Big rooms and big bathrooms. Nice bed. Rooms have the typical flavor of Paris. Very romantic but also incl. a few cracks in the walls and loose tapestry. But make no mistake. Nice hotel with a perfect location. Can recommend.

wonderful area, easy access to shopping, attractions, eating, metros, ...fabulous views of Paris rooftops from our room and balcony ..wish there was wi fi and coffee maker in rooms, our tv had sound problems the entire week of our visit and was not repaired although we reported it on day one, wi fi in lobby also had problems for our last few days and i had to go across the street to Starbucks( quelle horreur!) to use the internet ... noisy workers strike in lobby one morning, bar closed for 2 days as a result... rooms and bathrooms although very clean were worn and could use a facelift...most staff was friendly and helpful
