- The Pavillon Saint Augustin is located in 8th district, at the cross between two opposites: on one side Saint-Lazare station, a hive of incessant activity, and on the other, the Place Saint Augustin, its haughty church and the Cercle Militaire. It is not very far from La Madeleine, Opra Garnier, the Place de la Concorde, & the Place Vendme, too.

No Frills, But a Nice Central Place
We chose this hotel after spending a night at the Courtyard Stay away from there unless you have to be in that area for business. We wanted an affordable hotel in a good area, centrally located, and we found it. It's no-frills, but clean, decent sized rooms, and wonderfully located a few blocks from the Opera.

Great location, friendly staff
It was our first time in Paris. The hotel is easy to find at a very good location. We arrived at the CDG airport and took the RER/Metro to the hotel. It is right by St. Lazare station, which is a stop that connects to about 4 lines (metro and RER) so it is very easy to get around. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. If you need an iron or a converter, you can ask for it. There are two markets close to the hotel which you can buy your water and snacks! Lots of food on the same street as the hotel but be forewarned that many stores and shops(markets too) are closed on Sunday. You should walk towards the end of the street and you'll find a bakery, Asian food, and a place that sells crepe.

Charming hotel in pretty good location.
All the staff were fantastic!!! Everyone always, ALWAYS no matter if day or night had a smile on their faces. The staff spoke great English and they were really friendly. The hotel is in a very good location next to the gare saint lazare and from there you can go everywhere walking or by metro. It is also pretty close from the hop on and off #1 stop where you take the green line and see all the main Paris sights. The hotel is surrounded by charming Brasseries and you can't go wrong there. In the same street as the hotel there's a very charming little boutique grocery store where you can by yourself some delicious ingredients to have a a wonderful breakfast pick nick at the sight of your choice. The rooms were very clean and we were really pleased with our experience.

To save some money go get your breakfast or snacks in the little charming grocery store in the same street as the hotel. Even the staff there are friendly and we don't speak French.

A Good Place to Rest and Re-Charge
Our room over-looked the courtyard restaurant and the clanging silverware and conversations made the room rather noisy with the windows open. The air conditioning was not working in the building the first day we arrived (which was their big national holiday), but was repaired promptly the next day. The rooms are small, but that is what I expected from a European city hotel room. The room was kept clean and the hotel staff was always helpful. It is best to leave your room key when you leave or stop at the desk to have it re-magnetized before going to your room otherwise it did not usually work. The room gave us a place to relax, shower, and sleep, and for that purpose it served us very well. The hotel is only a few blocks from either the Saint-Lazare or Saint-Augustin metro/train stations, which made getting anywhere in the city very simple. A train to Versailles left directly from the Saint-Lazare station daily.

Dining tip:
Not Applicable
There was a grocery store a block away, which really helped keep down our expenses. We would eat breakfast in the room, pack some snacks (nuts, granola bars, water) for lunch, and then eat out for dinner. Eating in a restaurant is a big production and usually took several hours to complete, so it was better to save this for the evening when the museums and other sights had closed for the day.

A good buy for Paris
A clean, basic room. Rooms in the rear extremely quiet. The Pavillion's location is extremely convenient to all Metro connection. In all, a very good buy!

Pavillon Saint Augustin
We had a very enjoyable stay. However, I would recommend getting new beds. The beds in both rooms I reserved were incredibly obnoxious when someone moved just slightly. Also, it was very warm in the rooms without the windows open, but with them open it was very loud due to the street noise. Other than these two things, the rooms were very nice, clean, and comfortable.
