A small-scale hotel with a relaxed vibe, the Villa Montparnasse in Paris is a wonderful welcome to this culturally-rich city. Intimate rooms have private bathrooms, with Parisian breakfasts to kick start the days, and guests can enjoy the privacy of a romantic setting, since the hotel has just 46 rooms.

It's functional

Overall a 3 star which could do with some more work, definitely not a 4. However it's in a fantastic location for sightseeing & late nites out if you're that type, & for getting to a variety of good food and all around Paris. Staff we're very friendly, and kept the hotel clean. It's a bit tired, some work needed on plumbing. My biggest irritation was not having a kettle for a morning tea or coffee. But it's not a bad small hotel on a budget.

Travelcards are cheaper to get around with, Eat out in places like Bastille, it's got a vibrant feel & cheaper. Buy drinks b4 going into central Paris, but not cans as they won't be allowed into attractions.

Perfect hotel for a romantic stay

This hotel is ideal for couples on a romantic break. It is close to the Metro (Denfert Rochereau) and so about 10 mins from the city centre. Just around the corner is a street of cafes, restaurants and shops. The hotel is comfortable, our room was fairly big, clean and neat; the bed comfortable. Our room overlooked a park at the front, and was on a not too busy street. Staff were helpful and courteous, and they allowed us to leave our luggage with them for the afternoon after we checked out (our flight was later that night) Recommended.

Drinks are very expensive in Paris. Watch out for the "Happy Hours", where drinks are half price usually. Most happy hours finish at 9 p.m. though and start at 4 or 5 pm. E.g. a 50cl beer is normally €10.40 (yes! wow!) but are €5 during happy hour.

check your bills at the restaurants as they tend to give several slips of paper and some are duplicated so you are paying for "say" four sweets instead of two which you had.

Very enjoyable stay

Location coudn't be better, especially if you are travelling light and can take the RER from the airport. You will arrive to the metro station only some hundred meters from this hotel. There is a restaurant in the same house and many restaurants and shops at the next street. No noisy traffic. - The nearest metro station: you can choose from two lines and it's easy to go everywhere in Paris. The people working in the reception are very kind, helpful, always smiling. Elsewhere in the hotel (room service, breakfast room) not exactly the same. The breakfast price was now 10 euros. The normal price 15 euros would be a bit high. But I liked the breakfast, there was fresh fruit salad as dessert. The room was big enough for me, but maybe not for two people who have expectations, because this is a four star hotel. The room temperature was 17 C, enough for me, but... I liked my stay in hotel Villa Montparnasse so much that I started immediately to plan the next trip to Paris with my friend, and absolutely then the stay in this hotel!

Average

No tea or coffee facilities, every night we walked home in the rain only to have to stand outside for 10/15 minutes as they had locked the doors and gone elsewhere in the hotel. Room was ok, bed was comfy. The room was quite badly lit and there were some splatter marks on the walls Location wise it was about a 35 minute walk to mots tourist attractions Wifi was only available in the lobby which was a shame

Best holiday residence in Paris

Travelling with a toddler can be daunting but we were extremely pleased with both the hotel (air-conditioned room in middle of hot August is priceless, location just 5 minutes walk from Denfert-Rochereau underground/train station, spacious, cleaned daily, fitted with a minibar fridge) and all the staff - they were very professional, polite and no request seemed to much - the front house manager, Salaheddine, and his team would ensure that our stay was as pleasant as it can get and all our requests (extra bed / more towels / different room / small kettle to make tea etc, luggage drop-off) were answered swiftly. Big plus is a park just across the road, which was a favorite with our toddler. We can definitely recommend this hotel and if we are in Paris, we will stay there here. The only thing we missed was a tea tray with a kettle and selection of tea bags/coffees, but if you ask, the kettle will be delivered to your room.

Small but perfectly formed!

Our room was only just big enough to move around in, but it was spotlessly clean and I liked the fact that the toilet was separate from the rest of the bathroom facilities. The staff were wonderful and incredibly helpful, particularly when my daughter left her shopping in the lobby - it was retrieved and stored safely until we enquired about it the next day. The air-conditioning wasn't working on our floor, but a tower fan was provided immediately and left on 24hrs a day - no quibble. The only downside was the lack of tea or coffee making facilities, but it was super to have the fridge - we took all the mini-bar drinks out and purchased water from the local supermarket!

The local Monoprix (Turn left out of the hotel, then take first left through the local shops) sells excellent wine for just a couple of Euros a bottle - remember to take your corkscrew!

Hotel near Denfert-Rochereau (Paris)

The hotel has a good location close to the metro and the RER station, easy access to the airports. The internet was fee, the breakfast was reasonably priced with a good. The hotel room was small and can definitely use some updates. Overall the hotel is overpriced for the overall quality and I would not call it a 4 star hotel
