beautiful place with extremely terrible services.
such a beautiful place with the worst services in the world. for example: our kids meals are all included, but we were charged for each meal kids ate. they do not clean the rooms well. do not add new towels when they took the used ones........ too many things. terrible services, almost no services.

Absolute 10 out of 10
We were at this hotel for our honeymoon. It was just amazing. The best hotel we stayed at in French Polynesia. They really pamper you and treat you really nicely. If that's what you are looking for, this is the place for you. We stayed in a garden bungalow. The bungalows are terrific. Tons of space and you feel more at home. Great private plunge pools which were really nice when you wanted time alone. If we went back, we would definately stay here again.

The hotel food is good but very expensive. There really isnt much in walking distance. We took a cab into town and stalked up because we were there for four days. Worth doing that to get bottles of water, beer, snacks, etc.

Great for Relaxation....
My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights during our honeymoon. The facility is beautiful and located between two gorgeous bays and a perfect backdrop typical of a volcanic island. Overall, our experience was pleasant. Besides one or two individuals, the hotel staff was excellent and very accommodating. One staff member went out of her way to assist us in re-arranging our shuttle in Papeete once we learned the ferry schedule had changed that week. Our over-water bungalo was absolutely perfect and the free snorkel and kayaking gear was great. The only area of improvement would be the restaurant service and hours of operation. We found the restaurant service to be very slow and some facilities were not open when they were supposed to be. We chose to eat dinner off-site after our reservation was lost and waiting 30 minutes for our drink order.

Short drive from hotel
Rudy's is a great off-site dining option... Restaurant will provide transportation. Food is great (try the parrot fish), but be sure to arrive before 8:00 pm or be prepared for some initial attitude. The island shuts down fairly early.

Amazing location
This is our second trip to Tahiti and second stay at the Moorea Hilton (previously Sheraton). We absolutely love this place. First off... it is Tahiti. Second off, the location of this particular hotel is magical. For as long as you can snorkle, there are shallow waters with fantastic coral all around. Very safe and always exciting. One day we ran into an octopus right at our over water bungalow stairs after an hour of snorkling. We spent another hour watching him change colors and try to sneak away. What a treat. So enough on the location, it is perfect. What is not perfect is the customer service. It is far from bad. In fact it has improved since our visit in 2005. They were very kind when we requested a room - as an fyi, horizon does not mean exactly horizon as we thought we would not be looking at other rooms, but they don't define it that way! So they are never rude, they are simply French and Polynesian combined... exactly what they are and very different from me from the States. I know, some of you may want to sue me for the offense. But, some of you may appreciate my comments. Don't expect 700 dollar a night customer service. Your idea of service is different from people on "island time" and with French influence. By the way I love France... but it can be trying waiting on service in a restaurant. So if you know that going into it, you will not be bothered. It is like this everywhere and the Hilton has good service relative to other hotels. For example, you will often wait a long time (30 minutes) for room service. On 2 occassions, we did not get beach towels and had to call down for room service. I asked for a late check out and was told to call back in the morning, but then she changed her mind and said no - that upset me! We learned that if you tip - which is not expected - you get better service. We tipped 10% and by the end of the trip, breakfast and lunch every day went flawless. When arranging excursions, you only get 1 option for each type of excursion because the concierge gets a take from the company so they really don't HELP... they simply arrange the trip for you. Regarding excursions, we absolutely loved the sting ray motu lunch. We swam with sting rays and black tipped reef sharks. Amazing. Never thought I would be caught dead with sharks. after 1 minute it was like old hat. [...]the lead guide is really educated about the sting rays. He has them all named, and simply loves them and you can actually tell that they love him. He does NOT even feed them. They simply like his interaction and I think sometimes they get a nibble! Our sunset cruise was also really nice. Marie I think was our guides name (male) and he was very nice. One man show and done really well. The boat is not brand new, but Tahiti at sunset, with a nice drink and a catamaran was worth the money for my husband and I. This is an A #1 trip. If you demand the highest quality service - then this is not for you. But, if you get the French Polynesian thing - it is amazing and the Hilton Moorea Resort is in the best location of all for an over water bungalow.
