Stayed there to attend trade show at Koelnmesse. Five-minute walk to trolley that's three stops from convention center, so that's pretty good. It's a 15-20-minute walk to the Dom.[...]Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good.

Nice and cozy. Room was large with modern fixtures and furniture. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom very nice and well equipped. A fan to remove moisture and smell would be a welcome addition. Breakfast very expensive:18 euro/person for a bowl of cereals! Highly recommended. Book over internet to get a fair price for the room.

Our experience at the hotel was great. Clean, great staff, quiet area, and very timely services. The main down fall to room service is the selection. They only offer plate sized pizza for way too much money.

Ein gutes modernes Hotel. Sehr freundlicher Service. Nebenleistungen aber auf recht hohem Preisniveau (Zimmerservice).
Leider gar nicht blindentauglich, da die unumgängliche Aufzuganlage keine (eigentlich einfach zu ergänzenden) Brailebeschriftungen bietet.

The Hyatt in Cologne has a great atmosphere. You feel like you are staying in luxury. The location Is close to areas of interest. A downside is the cost which is high. Internet use will cost you money after the first 30 minutes.

I fully enjoyed my stay at this hotel.
The only thing is the hotel is located at the edge of the area which may become little noisy during the weekend nights because of the all bars and discos.

An öld home constructed perhaps 1800, reconstructed as a hotel some 20 years ago (info from desk clerk). Parking limited but public garage across the street. The lobby is up a flight of stairs (short) with no easy way to park the car in front and no lift rom the street. Staff courteous and helpful. Breakfast included and of good quality.

The Hotel Barcelo City Center, Cologne was clean, comfortable with American appointments both in-room and in the public spaces. I was visiting Cologne at the end of a 2-week driving vacation through Germany. Although nervous about driving in Cologne, the experience wasn't too bad and the hotel very easy to spot (although you will have to circle the block since the streets are all one-way) in order to enter. Parking is not included and is handled separate from the hotel. The attendants who work there will park your car for you, but when you need to get it out of holding you have to fetch it yourself or pay the attendant to bring it around in addition to the rather steep charge to park overnight in the garage.
The rooms are comfortable and very Americanized. Most rooms follow the standard layout of every US hotel. Bathrooms are not as modern as they could be and a touch cramped. However, all is forgiven if you have a room that faces the Dome side of the city. Beautiful views!
Breakfast is a sumptuous buffet, a little pricey but well worth it (especially if you indulge in the Seckt) Opt for the machine coffee that makes the espresso and enjoy a made to order omelette, a traditional english fry-up or something more healthful.

Sehr zentral, aber trotzdem ruhig nördlich des Doms hinter dem Hauptbahnhof gelegen. Das Personal ist freundlich, kompetent und hilfsbereit. Pluspunkte: Grosser Flachbildschirm und WLAN im Zimmer. Minuspunkte: Safetüre im Wandschrank lässt sich wegen Falttüre des Schranks nicht genügend öffnen um einen Laptop darin unterzubringen, Fenster und Verschlüsse sine in die Jahre gekommen. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist ok, die Hotelbar eher durchschnittlich.

this was a lovely hotel in cologne. only 2 stops away from central cologne. very accessable and awesome for the price paid. breakfast was awesome. all that could be requested at the price. sauna clean and pool lovely albeit a bit cool. clean bathroom and room. tv and seating area add.
overall would recommened to all.

I was there on a business trip and the location suited the purpose of my visit very well. However for the leisure trip it is not a perfect spot but quality of the service, room, restaurant etc. were up to expectations.

Nice clean hotel - however the room we had did not have a minibar/fridge in the room. The room was a good size but my parents were also staying in the hotel and had a much smaller room and their bathroom was tiny. But they did have a fridge in the room. Good location - across the road from the train station and only a couple of minutes from the Cathedral. I thought it was slightly overpriced but with the Christmas markets etc being so popular it was 'peak' time.

Situated right in the centre of town it is just a short walk from the hotel to Cologne Cathedral. The main railway station and the picturesque pubs and bars of the renowned downtown district of Cologne are close by. Although located in the centre of town the hotel is nevertheless situated in a quiet surrounding. Parking space in the basement garage is available. Please not that the proprietor is not Lindner Hotels. You have easy connections to all major highways. Public transport facilities in direct vicinity of the hotel. 2 kilometres to Cologne trade fairgrounds / 500 metres to Cologne main railway station.

I needed a relatively inexpensive hotel with easy access to the main train station that was clean, quite, and reliable. I arrived very late at night, and was greeted warmly by the reception desk worker. The breakfast included with the price of the stay was plentiful and delicious, and I would recommend this hotel for future stays in Cologne.
It's not as fancy as the Marriott, but it's clean, well maintained and close to all the sites. A good choice for the price.

Very nice hotel, located about 10 minutes walk from the city's main shopping precinct. Excellent room with comfortable bed. Room was however a bit stuffy, with the warm weather, and air con noisy.

A unos 15 minutos andando del Dom andando, un paseo agradable por el Rin si hace buen tiempo, hotel nuevo, parking cuesta 10 euros por día, pero no parece mala zona, podría quedarse en la calle sin problemas el coche. la habitacion grande y comoda. buena eleccion para pasar unos días en Köln.

My young son and I stayed here for a weekend trip to the Cologne Xmas markets. I was really impressed with the hotel. Great location and the room was really nice. I am fastidious on cleanliness in a room and this room did not disappoint. Really nice decor, lovely bathroom. Would definitely stay there again. Very easy to get there from the airport and short walking distance to the markets.

After having made this reservation online in the USA I wansn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. We arrived by train after dark but were able to find the hotel easily by foot with a bit of help from others going in the same direction. The hotel is very close to the metro less than a 5 min walk. We basically used the hotel as a place to crash and recharge our batteries after exploring the center of the city, a 15 min walk along the Rhine. The room was clean, quiet, and well appointed. The staff was helpful and our stay very pleasant. The only issue was upon checkout they had charged us for watching a movie that we hadn't seen. We explained that we hadn't watched any movies at all, free or otherwise and they removed the charges. We did not eat in the restaurant, so can't comment on the food. Overall it was great and I would stay there again.

There was a bit of a mess with the booking in that the hotel had no record of my prepayment and therefore made a big noise on checking in about me having to pay again. It did all get sorted eventually (about a month later) but it was rather distressing at the time. Note that there is a charge of 17.50 euros for breakfast. There was a fantastic selection, but I felt it was a bit steep. Located a good 10 minutes walk from the centre, and we were put in the annexe which made it difficult to get a hot drink easily. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room which would have been nice. Probably would not stay again.

Zimmer war eher klein aber sehr gemütlich.

My handicap daughter and I traveled for treatment in Germany. My overall first impression was not the best, I thought it felt a little over the top. In the after a restful night I found the people and the concierge absolutely wonderful. The majority did not speak English, but they were quick to find someone that did.
My daughter required an immediate trip to the hospital and they worked quickly to accommodate her every need. Each morning and afternoon shift at least one person would make a point to ask about her and they were all genuinely caring. I asked if they could find me a wheelchair rental and that evening the concierge was at our door with a brand new chair. When I asked how much, they said no… We are supplying this to you as you do not need to worry about anything else.
The housekeeping service were over the top, at first they did not like to come in with my daughter ill, however once we were able to communicate they came right in and had things cleaned within minutes. I always saw someone cleaning or maintaining the entire hotel.
There was a new subway construction in the front and we asked to be put up there as it gave me something to do while my daughter slept.. The noise was no louder than the beautiful church bells ringing and some days you barely noticed anyone working.
If I had to say something negative about the hotel, they only thing I can think of is that one dinner was not thoroughly cooked; they immediately took care of it. When we ordered room service, they were there within minutes. Anything you wanted, they took care of.
I really enjoyed the location; within minutes we were able to walk to museums, the river, the Dom and numerous restaurants. Thank you again Hotel Staff, you were AMAZING.

When we arrived at the hotel there was still some rubbish left from the guest staying there before, we advised the reception and they cleaned, but it left a bad impression at first, however we stayed there for 4 days and we enjoyed a lot. the room was very comfortable, the views beautiful, its a modern and new hotel, the staff at the reception was really nice, in the restaurant they could be better...overall was really good, I would stay there again, rates are quite good for what you get.

The art 'otel was only a 10-15 min walk from the main station and right opposite the chocolate museum which was good. If you're after basic, clean, comfy, quiet, easy and econimical? Stay here. I've always thought that you can judge a hotel by the bed and bathroom. Luckily the art 'otel scores well on both. The beds were very comfy and even though my girlfriend is a VERY light sleeper, even she managed to get a good night's sleep. The bathroom was very good also with an excellent walk-in shower which had almost instant hot water. Just what you need on a cold winter morning.
We went for the Christmas markets and there is a medieval market just outside the chocolate museum (which was great) opposite but it was very small compared to the others so we weren't there very long. We found the best markets were the one at Rudolfplatz, Neumarkt and Heumarkt and of those three, we liked the Neumarkt the best. It's very close to the Dom and there are plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby including an Irish pub which has EPL Football on :o).
I would recommend a restaurant called Poncho just round the corner from the Neumarkt. It's an Argentinian steakhouse and the fillet steak was simply superb!! I like my food (meat in particular) and both mine and my Girlfriend's steak was cooked perfectly. Service was great too, our waiter appeared to be fluent in about 4-5 languages and was chatting away to all the diners in their native tongues. The local Kolsch (brew) are always nice so make sure to try a few and of course don't forget to drink a couple mugs of Gluhwein to warm you up!!
Anyway, bored now so....... to summerize. We really enjoyed our trip to Cologne and would very much recommend the art 'otel as a good base for your visit.

Friendly Staff, Quiet

All and all a nice place to stay. You will be charged for internet service and parking if so desired. All the staff was very friendly and spoke English well. Really had no complaints at all until I was ready to check out and they informed me there was a price disparity on the room as to what I had prepaid on this site. I'm trying to resolve that now. However, in fairness the room was comfortable, the area is a bit out of the way from the city center which was ok for me, and the staff was friendly.

Employees were very helpful in directing us to public transportation. I feel if I am staying at a hotel I should not have to pay to park my car there because I am your customer.

In the end, the hotel was OK. The website was not specific about room size - so I booked a single room (automatically assigned for one adult traveler). When I checked in, I got a very small (read: very small!) room with no air conditioning. Considering the sweltering heat (95°F), I asked for a room with air conditioning - which they offered as a second option only - this room was a double (with 2 beds). This is the right size, as a minimum - and the room was clean, with a full bathroom. They did not charge me additionally for the larger room. Unfortunately, the bathroom smelled of mildew. The breakfast was good - standard for Germany (forget the "continental" breakfast in the USA, which consists of Walmart packaged leftovers). The hotel does not have a lobby, or any other amenities. Internet is provided for a cost per month - not a convenient choice for a short stay, but you can go to Starbucks and get wi-fi for free. Perfect location for walking the old town area.

We stayed at this hotel while in Cologne for my nephew's wedding.
It is whithin walking distance from the catering place and also from the
tram station.We liked the cleanliness of the rooms but especially the quality and variety of the breakfast
menu.Highly recommend it.

Even with busy Dürener Str. out front, the room was very quiet thanks to the sound-dampening of the solid thermal windows. Unlike many US hotel windows, you could actually open it for fresh air at night. The location just outside of the city limits made easy access to the vast Stadtpark (City Park). Everything in this hotel was first rate and an incredible value. I highly recommend it.

A hotel in an absolute superb location, two minutes from main train station, opposite cathedral, and christmas market right outside the door. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms with great double glazing not a sound from outside, rooms & bathroom really clean.
Highly recommended for visits to Cologne as it is central for most things.

We were extremely fortunate. We were upgraded to a very large room overlooking the Cologne Cathedral and the Christmas market. Fantastic room and really nice hotel.
Only bummer was the staff in the bar were not on their game with customer service. My wife and I couldn't get served for over 20 minutes one night.
