Barcelo Cologne City Center

Hotel was great and the personnel were very friendly. all spoke good English

The Hotel Barcelo City Center, Cologne was clean, comfortable with American appointments both in-room and in the public spaces. I was visiting Cologne at the end of a 2-week driving vacation through Germany. Although nervous about driving in Cologne, the experience wasn't too bad and the hotel very easy to spot (although you will have to circle the block since the streets are all one-way) in order to enter. Parking is not included and is handled separate from the hotel. The attendants who work there will park your car for you, but when you need to get it out of holding you have to fetch it yourself or pay the attendant to bring it around in addition to the rather steep charge to park overnight in the garage. The rooms are comfortable and very Americanized. Most rooms follow the standard layout of every US hotel. Bathrooms are not as modern as they could be and a touch cramped. However, all is forgiven if you have a room that faces the Dome side of the city. Beautiful views! Breakfast is a sumptuous buffet, a little pricey but well worth it (especially if you indulge in the Seckt) Opt for the machine coffee that makes the espresso and enjoy a made to order omelette, a traditional english fry-up or something more healthful.

First class accomodations. Very conveniently located for trade shows. Exterior of hotel needs updating. Gardens are messy. Rooms were great and interior was first class.

This is a very good hotel and location for the price. It was cheap and very convenient. Housekeeping was very good and respectful of the guests comfort and convenience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who would like to pay less than $100 US a night.

Large super clean rooms at Rudulfsplatz. Subway outside. Great location. Remote controlled shutters. Free, but somewhat slow internet access. Spotless large bathrooms. Great elevators with fast response. Breakfast is too expensive. No pool. Poorly equipped gym Overall, highly recommended. Great service.

Hotel was in a great location very close to many restaurants, bars and light rail service. Unfortunately, the internet is wireless only and barely functioned. I was forced to take my laptop across the street to Starbucks to do my work. Also, one night out of four, the air conditioning did not work, which led to a very uncomfortable night.

We loved this hotel. It was an easy 20 minute walk to the Cathedral mostly on pedestrian walkways. Many restaurants and bars within 2-3 blocks. View of the Cathedral and roman arch from our window. The A/C wouldn't get cool, but perhaps it just hadn't been turned on yet. There was one day that was out of the ordinary warm. I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the area around the hotel gave lots of dinner/drinks options.

An oasis in the busy area of Cologne. At the reception the staff speak Spanish fluently and are very friendly.

Hotel was very clean, rooms a good size. Staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. Location great, within walking distance of cathedral and other sights. Price reasonable (we didn't have breakfast included so cannot comment on food at hotel).

Room was spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable though the pillows were not. We had a room looking towards the Cathedral - not sure it is worth the price difference for one view vs the other. Right outside we could see one of the medieval city gates on Rudolfplatz -- however, the outside of the windows of the hotel were very very dirty. Parking was directly below the hotel - I think we paid 16 euros for the night. The city is very walkable and there are lots of shops/restaurants surrounding the Hotel but if you rather not walk the tram stop is right outside.
