Nice clean hotel - however the room we had did not have a minibar/fridge in the room. The room was a good size but my parents were also staying in the hotel and had a much smaller room and their bathroom was tiny. But they did have a fridge in the room. Good location - across the road from the train station and only a couple of minutes from the Cathedral. I thought it was slightly overpriced but with the Christmas markets etc being so popular it was 'peak' time.

Good location but not business friendly
The location, within 100 yards of the train station, is excellent. The rooms are typical for a four star hotel in Europe; smaller than what you would expect in the US but comparable to other four star EU hotels. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is very good, again, comparable to other four star EU hotels. The rooms are quiet unless you sleep with the window open as I do and then you have the noise of the train station, which did not detract from my stay. They say they have WiFi but the reception, no matter where you are in the hotel, is very poor. I received a refund for my one-day fee.

Through the train station and around the cathedral, you can walk to the "Alt Stadt" or old section of the city where you will find too many good restaurants to describe, each with its own particular flair. My visit was in February but some restaurants had gas heaters so you could sit outside. Truly the best part of my stay on Cologne.

Airconditioning broken (was always on full blow and full heat), fridge broken (didn't cool anything), breakfast excellent, restaurant staff excellent, reception staff helpful. I wouldn't stay here again, not worth the money, if cheaper then maybe.Don't know why rated four stars, two or three maybe. Noisy location, especially at night.

strange combination
It was very clean, the staff seemed nice, if only while not having problems. My only issue was with the WiFi access, because i used SKYPE phone service in a foreign country, i needed internet access, and i purchased (for 5 euros) a whole day of internet usage... and once i got back to my room, there was no reception. I thought, ah ha! i see a network access plug in the wall, surely they have a backup plan for this situation and will loan me a cord... no... such was not the case... after asking the front desk about the service i just purchased, the told me with a cold distance, "we are sorry, but the wifi reception on your floor is not possible"... for the service i just purchased from them. and all i got was a shoulder shrug and an "oh well" attitude from the clerk.

Beware of noise from construction
Beware of noise from construction site just outside hotel! The rooms are very small and cheap but the location is perfect adjacent to the main railwaystation, though a little bit far from nightlife district (Rudolf Platz). There are also no minibars in the rooms, but this is ok since you have convenience store just outside. Fine with personal safe.
