Stayed for two nights on sightseeing tour of Greece. The hotel is comfortable (the bathroom i s especially luxurious), but minibar and restaurant prices are outrageous. Location is very convenient for Athens metro.

The hotel was very nice as expected; however, everything cost extra, very much extra! A drink in the exclusive rooftop bar is euro 20. It was worth staying there for the exceptional price I recieved of $160 a nite, but for the regular $260, go someplace else...

Not the most central of locations but only 5 minutes on Metro to key sites after 5 minute walk to Metro. Staff very helpful, club room 1st class and great value as it included breakfast. Roof top pool was small and not open in October

Great modern and fresh facilities. Staff not over friendly but still adequate. Location so-so - just down the road from the Hilton Athens. However, the establishment next door to the Crowne Plaza ('Sex Theatre'), complete with seedy neon signs, really lessens the attractiveness of the area. Would return if I got a better price.

Description
The hotel is located in one of the safest areas of Athens, near the Music Hall and the USA Embassy, with lots of coffee shops and restaurants in the area. The Parthenon and the Athens central shopping centre as well as the main square of Athens (Constitution Square) are a half hour's walking distance away. You can also use the public bus (5 minutes walking distance at Mavilli Square) or the Metro (2 minutes walking distance to Megaro Musikis stop). Alternatively you can enjoy a nice stroll on one of the most well kept avenues of Athens, Vasilissis Sophias, where some of the most important buildings, monuments and Museums of Athens are located. The Kolonaki area is a high end area with many and exclusive boutiques. It is a 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel. As you walk on Vasilissis Sophias Avenue towards Constitution Square, you turn right onto Patriarchou Ioakim Street.

Great location for everything, food, laundry and especially the subway; two blocks away. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great place to relax and prepare for the next leg of one's trip.

actually i was very happy when i saw the hotel when i was in the taxi . when i entered to the hotel i told that i did a good decision to myself . everything has changed after i got of the elevatar in 6 th floor everything was like 20 years old . ther was a plasm tv and a new water basin except these everything was like 20 years old ( like furniture and bad and the biggest dissapointing was there was a internet coneection fee which is 14 euro per day it is the most expensive i have ever paid besidfe the price there was a cable 20 cm so you have to sit on a unconfartable chair and surf . they can charge 14 euro but they have make it wireless or at least 3 meter cable . by the way stuff was helpfull [...].the hotel look like 4 star but it is a 2 star hotel

This is a nice, upscale hotel located next to Lycabettus mountain, with spectacular views of the city. It is in an upscale "sleeping" quarters of the city, but only about 10 minute walk from the major square (Syntagma). It also has an excellent swimming pool on the rooftop. Views from the rooms are amazing. The service is also excellent. If you are looking for a quieter place to stay away from the buzz of Plaka (the main tourist neighborhood), then this is a great choice. However, if you want to be in the middle of touristy action, then you may want to stay in Plaka. Also, keep in mind that the internet charges and breakfast charges add up.

OK, but not a quality hotel...

The publicity photo of a room is the only room of that grade in the hotel. ALL the rest are considerably smaller, albeit comfortable enough. When we asked to stay in the room that was shown, they did offer it to us, but our children (aged 12 & 10) were then in with us, which sort of ruined the effect. The manager was very accomodating to our frustrations.
Breakfast was very poor; UHT milk, little choice and cold fried eggs. The maid/cook had no imagination to change their practice.
It was convieniently located, near to the metro & behind the Hilton (which we used the outdoor pool at, borrowed towels etc, We didn't mention WHICH hotel we were staying at!)
Athens had a series of strikes - a common occurance in this corrupt and bloated public sector country - but they were of little effect to us 'tourists'. When the metro wa\s closed, we just took the bus. The public transport ticket system seems bizarrely un-policed.
For our family of 4 I would recommend paying a few hndred euros more and staying in a hotel with pool complex and a 'big' name. This is the best of the Best Western hotels in this part of europe; As such, the others must be realy mediocre. Best Western is not a good hotel chain, but it is clean, tidy, competitively priced and helpful.

Nous avions déjà séjourné il y a 3 ans dans cet hôtel et avons trouvé le service légèrement dégradé : par exemple, pas de tapis de bain la 2ème nuit et, en dépit d'une promesse du manager, pas de cintres rajoutés dans les placards (il n'y en avait que 3!). Cela reste tout de même un bon choix.

As this was a business trip it was perfect. hotel ideally located. guaranteed taxi service to get to your destination. But downside to that is the taxi service from hotel charge xtra 3 euros.

Beautiful lobby gives way to aging carpeting and common areas. The rooftop pool is a nice amenity, and the rooms are adequate. We requested a room with two beds, and we received a full size that split into two twins. The staff, including housekeeping and reception, were extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the area and Athens. Not really located near any major sites, but a 10 minute walk from the metro easily gets you anywhere. And about a 20 minute walk to the National Archeological Museum. Included breakfast was just OK. This hotel is a fantastic value, and reasonably comfortable.

It has been recently renovated following it's take over by a new managment company(0111/AC) This is a 7 storey modern construction with steps down from the street to the hotel entrance. This hotel is located on a small quiet street, off Vassilisis Sofias Avenue near the American Embassy. A selection of museums, the National Gallery, and the new Megaron Concert Hall are all nearby. Megaro metro station is 300 meters from the hotel. The airport is a 30 minute transfer by car, or metro.

We booked Proteas because it was cheap and we thought we were going to be close to the metro station. Yet, the metro station was a 15 minute walk, which with luggage, was too much. While that might have been our issue for not understanding the geographic of Athens, the hotel description was misleading.
Most important to those considering this hotel is that it was clearly a hotel used for one-night sexual encounters. Not only did we see and hear this throughout the night, but the ability to purchase condoms on each floor right outside the elevator clearly sent this message. The hotel decor (mirrors, red rug, etc.) were further evidence of this purpose. We we not comfortable with this and did not sleep well.

Every one who worked at the hotel spoke english. Hotel very clean. Nice size room. Stayed there twice, one room had a balcony and the other didn't.
Felt very safe in the area outside.

For the price this hotel was an excellent value. Located a bit off the city center but very walkable (about a 15-20 min) to city center. Taxis to the acropolis was about 7 euros and the metro was convenient only a few stops to Plaka & the acropolis. I liked staying away from the center as that meant restaurants, bars and bakeries weren't inflated tourists prices. There's a bakery called Mr. Baker about a block or so away where you can get the yummiest pastries for breakfast and mini ice creams for lunch all for less than 3 euro. Jima Ginger is a fantastic modern restaurant with very reasonable prices as well. We ate there almost every day. Given the price, the room wasn't super luxurious but just fine and the bathroom was updated but not brand, brand new. Overall, excellent value. Tip: Wake up for the continental breakfast, it is phenomenal. Juices, warm chocolate croissants...fruit, meat cheese spread, eggs, sausage. Really worth the early rising.
