The Adrian Hotel is located right under the hill of the Acropolis and in the midst of the antiquities extravaganza, that make the city of Athens the most important showcase for the classical world. Situated in Plaka, one of the most romantic neighborhoods of Athens, the Adrian Hotel offers guest rooms with fabulous view to the Parthenon and a chance to enjoy the city like a real Athenian: Looking for bargains in Monastiraki Flea Market, walking along the car-free archeological zone, relaxing in a small cafe or feasting in traditional Greek tavernas.

Expensive, small hotel in convenient loc

We spent 5 nights at the Adrian Hotel, and enjoyed the location for it's proximity to all the archeological venues, the Monastriaki metro station, and the old-Athens neighborhood (the Plaka). The room we rented was small, and expensive, even by NYC standards. We had a room for 3 people, and we could barely walk around the beds. The balcony is a plus, but only seats two.. Our room overlooked the busy street, so the noise from the street prevented us from leaving the window open. Luckily, the sliding door really did block out most of the noise, and the air conditioner did the rest. I don't know where the room photo was taken for use on their website; that room appeared much larger. The bathroom was also very small. The desk clerk on duty during the day shift seemed either uninformed/uninterested/or unwilling to help us with details of tourist activity. He didn't even offer to look up info online! Maybe we were expecting more of a concierge-type role than he was used to playing. The rest of the staff, especially the breakfast crew, were very good at their jobs. The breakfast was good, 0630 to 0930, with some hot items included. For the price we were paying, we expected more service, better furnishings, more space. The view of the Acropolis from the roof-top breakfast room is spectacular:how about opening it up for guest use the rest of the day?

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Some museums have a "free day" on Thursday, and very limited hours, if any, on Monday. The Acropolis ticket gets you into 6 venues. The best museum we went to was by far the Benaki.

What you get with this hotel is

What you get with this hotel is location location location. The terraces overlook a wonderful square with restaurants and bars and a short walk to the acropolis. Maybe not a good idea if you're a light sleeper. The room is basic with the smallest bathroom I have ever seen; the staff however, were friendly and the room was clean. We really enjoyed our stay.
