Albion Hotel Athens

My husband and I love traveling. We usually choose accommodations that are affordable because we spend most of our time sight-seeing or dining so we mostly use our room to rest after a long day. We have booked most of our trips from the same company and have been very satisfied with the accomodations offered by most hotels except this one. Albion hotel was pleasantly close to the metro terminals which made it a breeze to move around Greece. However, they were not able to offer any concierge services to book any trips around the city or even to request a map of the city. The front desk did not even speak English so even asking for information of any kind was difficult. They offered breakfast in the morning but seemed to be served from a personal kitchen. We chose to dine out instead. The rooms were very modest and simple. Since we arrived late from our sight-seeing. We would find large groups of people congregated in the front desk area playing cards and smoking. It almost seemed as if these were permanent residents of the hotel. We would find people sitting on the stairs smoking on all the floors. So if you are not interested in a smoking environment...this is definitely not the place for you to stay. Although we do not smoke our room on the 6th floor smelled like smoke and all our clothing was permeated with the smell of smoke. So this was probably the most unpleasing experience for us. I do have to say the front desk people tried to be as nice as possible and I can't say that this experience ruined our vacation but I wish that this hotel would have been a modest or non-smoking environment. Hope this review will be helpful to other people who are planning a vacation to Athens.
