Nice Value in Athens

Nice stylish hotel wth everything you need including a laptop free of charge to borrow for up to an hour. The breakfast buffet was very nice with Greek pastries, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereals, fruit etc. Location is commercial with only fast food in the immediate area. Only 2 blocks to the Metro so very convenient (on days when there wasn't a transit strike!)

Great Value

The hotel is very well run. The front desk staff went out of their way to help us with anything we needed including advice for restaurants, shopping, tours, etc. They spoke English very well. The free breakfast was very good. Always fresh with lots of variety. We felt safe when we were in the hotel and they have flat screen TVs and free WiFi in every room. The hotel is very well located within the city and many important locations are within walking distance. However, the neighborhood around the hotel for about a three block radius is tough. At night we were a little apprehensive about walking this area, although nothing ever happened. Just be cautious and aware at night.

good hotel for bed and breakfast only

The stuff is very friendly, the rooms are clean and the breakfast is quite good. What more to ask? Maybe a better area to stay as this area is realy dangerous to walk in the night. Its full of foreigners that look guite dangerous. If you can avoid them you will have a nice time.

Friendly Hotel

A strong police presence in the area made us feel safe but once the police is gone you really need to watch out if you are out late at night. Common sense is the hey. The day time is perfeclty safe and the hotel was walking distance to sights and restaurant. Good breakfast!

Worth it

Hotel was very nice. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was included and the price was right. It was a 3 minute walk to the closest metro. Not the best neighborhood but after wandering around most of central Athens I am not sure where would be better. Overall I was very happy with the hotel. The furnishings were modern, clean and everything worked out great. If you want something that is close to central Athens that wont break your budget and is nice this is it.

Convenient Location

Excellent location in relation to Acropolis, National Museum and Flea Market. The neighborhood around the hotel is very sketchy after dark particularly on poorly lit side streets and Plateia Omonoias. Lots of young guys hanging around with, it appeared, nothing in particular to do. A little unnerving even coming from NYC but other than being asked, I think, for money we weren't hassled.

To decent restaurants. There is nothing near the hotel. Go up to the Acropolis area where there are dozens and decent restaurants.

Centrally located hotel at a good price

I stayed at Chic hotel for 3 weeks in September 2010 and I enjoyed my stayed. I stayed in a single room which was sizeable and clean. The room had a working station (glass table and a sturdy chair) for laptop use. I used the WiFi internet system throughout my stay, the service went off line only a few times and for only a couple of minutes (no more than 10-15 minutes). The room had an adjoining wet room (no bath tub) with dispensing soap machines. There was a good size television on the wall which had a number of channels in different languages (Spanish, French, Italian, English and I think German) and the available channels provided news broadcasts, regular TV programmes and films for the various languages. BBC 24 and BBC sports were also available. The hotel only serves breakfast (from 8.30 -10.00 am), which is basic but okay and ample. It consists primarily of tea, coffee, water, juices, various fruits, bread (white and brown), cereals, boiled eggs, cheese slices, ham slices, various spreads, yoghurt, croissants, olives and a few Greek pastries etc. The staff were very helpful, courteous and communicated adequately in English. The rooms were cleaned everyday. There was a 'Do Not Disturb' notice available to hang on the door and the room had an Air Conditioner which was controlled only by the room user. The room had a window with shutters, a blind and curtain unfortunately the lights lighting up the outside of the hotel were visible even when the shutters, blinds and curtains were closed so if your preference is for pitch black at bed time then you might need to use an eye mask. The hotel is within walking distance of Omonia Metro Station (about five minutes) and if you enjoy walking (which I do) then you can walk to Snytagma Square, where there are a lot of restaurants. Snytagma Square is about 30 minutes walk from the hotel along either Stadiou or Leoforos Eleftheriou Venizelou roads. The hotel is on a road /in an area where drug addicts and some shady people hang around however there always seems to be police men on this road /in the area. All in all I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again. Actually was trying to book it again for a three day visit in early October 2010 but there aren't any rooms available. Drat!!
