This hotel boasts a great central location offering easy access to both sightseeing and shopping areas as well as public transport for those wishing to travel further. It is ideal for those on a budget wishing to take in the sights of Athens. (1007/AC) An 8 storey building in the typical style of the area. This hotel has a great location on Pireos street, just 3 minutes walk from Omonia Square and 10 minutes from the old town area of Monastiraki and its historical sites including the Acropolis. Plaka is just beyond Monastiraki. The trendy Psiri area is also very close by. From Omonia, it is one metro stop to the metro line that goes directly to the airport. This takes about 40 minutes for the complete journey. Omonia station also gives access to the port for those connecting with ferries to the islands.

The Elite is in a very busy/noisy section West Athens 5 minutes walk to the Amonea station. The 2 rooms had two sliders out to a small balcony on the street side and being 6 floor up, had a lot of street noise all night. Three beds-small mattresses on wood slats were uncomfotable and short. My wife, being a bathroom person, did not appreciate the absense of a shower curtain for the shower pan that was 2ftx2ft. The staff was friendly and helpful, but I had to request room clean up and fresh towels. We spent most of our time out-- using the room for cleanup and sleep--coming up short on both!

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

We walked downhill to the main square by the Agora (30 minute walk)finding the major fresh produce selling area for all Athens just 10 minutes away from the hotel--if you are wanting to see every cut of beef, lamb, pork, fish,or eel that has ever been done. Subway system was fantastic and inexpensive-.8Eur.to go from Amonea to Pireaus Flee Market.
