FIRST TIMER IN ATHENS GREECE
TIME OF VISIT: December [ winter] NO parking available. Umbrellas are cheap. Location near Omonia Metro station, then a walkable 4 blocks to Hotel. Plus easy access from airport. Pay a one way metro fare to city 30-40 mins], and transfer to Omonia Metro station on same ticket, then you are able to purchase metro tickets at kiosk for a single direction, or 3 day pass [suggested--validate once], which allows you on the bus transit system as well. Many exits at this station; ever a major department store HONDA, which has a roof top self service cafeteria, plus two tour buses offerings information stops infront of HONDA. Pay on bus, and receive earphones/map stops. The hotel has many information amenties which include maps, trips, and a very nice laundry service where you drop it off and return in about 2 hours. Please check the opening times--about 4 blocks away. If your hotel price includes breakfast, it's a very plain breakfast. Many places near to get a simple breakfast, plus small stores to get water, fruits and snacks. Room provided an electric hot water pot. Don't expect a large shower...European style with a spray handle. There is a small lift -- 2 pers + baggage. Plus a full bar, and minimum room service. Limited English spoken, but they do try!! 24 hour front desk. Your room key turns the electricity on / 220 wattage. Bring adapters, and free easy access wi-fi. Phone in room. Heating and AC on remote control. Enjoy your stay no matter how long. Walking is essentially necessary. Good walking shoes recommended. Learn some Greek before arriving ... it's helpful.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
DINING: Gratuity is included in the pricing. Dining is late ... around 9 pm, and potatoes are the main vegetable along with carrots. Short snacks are nearby. Many pastry shops and food kiosks. High end stores about 8 blocks away from Hotel. Taxis are readily available, and have your arrival address written legibly As a pedestrian, you should have the right of way -- GOOD LUCK! ATTRACTIONS: The Acropolis Museum, and the Acropolis on a clear day. Easiest walk is the service road to the left of main 2 entrances up!! Plenty of photo ops atop the Acropolis. Uneven pathways--be careful. Limited handicap availabilty, if the lift works. Restoration is all about. Metro: Acropolis

Holiday in Athens
The hotel is located in a tough neighborhood but is not as bad as previous reviewers have made it seem. It is typical of every major metro area downtown that I have ever been to. If you are a street smart traveler, you should not have any problems. The room was a standard European hotel room that was small but adequate. The down side was after taking a shower, the bathroom floods. The breakfast was small and was mostly breads, cereal, lunch meats, and cheese. It was good enough to get you to an early lunch but not a fulfilling meal. The location was the best thing about this hotel. All the major sites are within easy walking distance. 10-15 minutes to the acropolis and the same to Parliament.

Excellent value
We arrived at around 3.30am and had a warm welcome and a beer at a good price. The hotel is kept very clean and the breakfast is basic but there's plenty of it - the yoghourt, honey and olives are excellent. The staff are kind, friendly and helpful. The hotel is only a short walk from the metro and fairly close to all the sights- 15 minutes. However its immediate location is on the edge of a dodgy area, if you turn right out of the front door it's fine, turn left and you are on the edge of a red light area. However we never felt threatened though disturbed by some things we saw.

There is also reasonable cafe O Pougias left out of the door and diagonally across the street where you get a warm welcome, a full plate and very cold beer, the wine is ok too.

Excellent Staff and Nice Hotel
I enjoyed the hotel staff mostly [...]. They were helpful and friendly. The hotel is close to everything, but not in a great (safe) area. It can get a little scary at night. However, if you stick to the main roads, it is only a 15 minute walk to the ruins. For the money, it was well worth it. I would recommend the hotel if you want to be close, but not too close and save a few dollars.
