Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
The area is WONDERFUL for shopping. I traveled with My Mother and younger Brother and EVERY shop just around the corner from the hotel had at least one item that interested each of us. The authentic Greek items make for great gifts and souvenirs. The food is deliciously fresh! I recommend you try a Lamb Gyro, salty and sweet crepes =]. The frozen yogurt is good too. Remember to smile the people are Friendly. Enjoy!

Ok experience
Hotel stay was very close to everything in Plaka which was a plus. I personally did not have a great experience with the staff at the front desk as they were not as welcoming and seldom smiles or even looked at me in the eye when I had questions. Internet did not work on all floors, when I stated I had problems connecting to the wifi, I was told to just go to the computer on the 1st floor. Also I stayed at this hotel because of the great view of the Acropolis and the bar/lounge on the rooftop, however the upstairs bar area was far from what was advertised. I've stayed with many hotels with all levels of star ratings and for this hotel to be classified as a 4 star I would expect a little bit more from the staff.

A Hidden Gem
This little boutique hotel, tucked away on busy Mitropoleos Street between Syntagma and Monastiraki Squares was the perfect place to hang our hats while spending the week in Athens. The location was very convenient for walking to many good sites and museums, eating and shopping. But, the real gem is the hotel itself. It was very clean and the staff was very accommodating. Dorina Stathopoulou, the owner, was there every morning at breakfast in ther restaurant on the second floor asking everyone about their plans for the day and guiding us in any way we needed. But the best place of all is the hotel's rooftop patio, with it's breathtaking view of the Acropolis and the city of Athens. I think it was too early in the season for the bar up there to be open, but many folks just brought up their own spirits, or coffee (in Greece, there is always time for coffee, and their just happens to be a Starbucks about a block away). It was the perfect place to watch the sunset and just relax after a hard day of sightseeing and museum hopping. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Athens. My only suggestion to you would be to ask for a room facing the Acropolis. We over looked Mitropoleos on a lower level floor and it was quite noisy when we had the balcony door open.

Short walk from hotel
There are so many outdoor cafes and tavernas in less than a block in all directions, it's really hard to choose a place to eat. For a quick coffee, there is a Starbucks a block away, but for a long cup there are many cafes to sit outside and people watc. And shopping ... what better place to go than in the Plakka, just a short distance from the hotel doo.r
