Disappointing in comparison to reviews read through trip advisor. Rooms large but very spartan, and the climb to the hotel is not for the faint hearted! Sensational view of the caldera! Would not consider this "hotel" accommodation, rather serviced room. Tiny bathroom with no provisions. Not a relaxing room to retreat to after a long day of sightseeing, probably would not choose this accommodation again.

Despite the airport's proximity to our hotel(only 3 minutes driving), we provide an airport shuttle.
The beaches are easily accessible, as well as the surrounding area with its typical villages and cultural attractions. However there are also modern amenities in the vicinity such as a shopping center.
There is a spacious lounge, relaxed restaurant and cosy bar. The large swimming pool offers a poolside bar. Our restaurant serves Greek specialities which are all based on authentic local recipes. You can enjoy the stunning scenery from your room as it offers a balcony with views of the Aegean Sea.

The guys at the reception are very friendly and helpful. It is only a little far from the bus station, where man can take the bus to Fira or Kamari.

Our experience with the staff was perfect... the location was perfect.... nothing to complain about! Gave dining options a 3 because the hotel only offered a continental breakfast.. which was excellent.

This is a fantastic property suitable for all kinds of traveller. The location, the service, and the facilities of the hotel are all perfect. (1007/AC) The hotel complex is in the typical style of Santorini with whitewashed walls and arched roofs. Brightly coloured flowers dominate the foreground, with fantastic views of the Caldera and the Mediterranean Sea in each direction. Perfectly located just 2 minutes’ walk from Fira town, yet offering the peace and tranquillity of a resort hotel. The hotel has stunning views of the Caldera (volcano) for which the island is famous. Since it is only a short walk to town, there is a huge range of restaurants, tavernas, bars and clubs available. The port is a 5-minute drive away, and the airport is 15 minutes.

as a base to check out the island its kind of cool.. its close to oia so you can go to restaurants at night and enjoy amazing views but it has easy access without pushing you through tiny ally ways..
however - greek cabin style accommodation is not everyones cup of tea and if you want the cave experience which we did then you need something else..
we booked two nights and paid upfront through orbitz..
we were happy to lose money and pay somewhere else in oia for the second night because we really wanted the cave experience and oia hotels offer it in abundance..
our disappointment was based on our tastes and needs.. for people liking to have a "pad" and who rent a cars its a very cool option

Volcanos Villas was a great choice for our honeymoon and first visit to Greece. Here's a bit of the pros & cons. The only cons (4) were these: 1) Per my emails with the hotel, we had arranged for pick up at the airport, but no such ride arrived. When I called the hotel, they instructed us to take a cab. However, the price for the cab was the same as what they had quoted in the email, so perhaps there was just a communication misunderstanding. Also, our room was ready upon our arrival (8am), so we were VERY thankful not to have to wait until the 3pm check in time (this outweighed the confusion about the ride). 2) Breakfast was somewhat limited and we didn't eat at the hotel at all other than breakfast. However, one of our favorite parts of the whole trip was our time dining at Santorini Mou, the taverna that is literally steps directly across from the hotel. GREAT food, atmosphere, music, etc. 3) The pool seemed to close a bit early (just after sunset). There were times we'd get back from sightseeing and would have loved to get in a late evening dip. 4) The hotel is a bit removed from Oia, but it is within walking distance. At first we were a bit turned off by this, but then found the path to town that is on the caldera side and found it to be a very enjoyable walk. (Also, being near Santorini Mou was worth it!!). As you can see, the cons were outweighed by a pros, which were many. Friendly staff, internet access available, great having a kitchenette in our room, great sized pool, very inviting room, GREAT view from our patio and anywhere on the hotel grounds. Having a semi-private patios was lovely for breakfasts or evening glass of wine. We'd certainly stay there again and will treasure our memories. A great value!

Sehr romatisches Hotel! Extrem freundliches Personal. Aussicht ist einfach fantastisch! Kommt sehr darauf an, welches Zimmer man bekommt. Frühstück wird auf Privat-Terasse gebracht. Pool ist klein.

GREAT GETAWAY VERY FRIENDLY CLEAN

Was greeted at the ferry dock by a very friendly [...]. The hotel is run by a very freindly family who was able to take care of all our requests. They arranged for a rental car drove back and forth to the ferry terminal. The rooms were very clean and bright. The beach area they had set aside for the guests was on PARRISSA BEACH (black sand) the water and the accomidations were great. This was our second stay at hotel and would go back again. The pool and the bar area were great.

The location of hotel is not great specially considering the poor public transport facility in Santorini. I guess we visited the hotel during start of tourist season so swimming pool etc were not ready. The rooms are acceptable and breakfast was nice.

Not so great experience

The hotel we stayed was not the one we booked but at least the location is better and the room we stayed has a fabulous sea view! The owner of the hotels tried to put all the guests in one hotel because it was an off season for the island. The problem is the room is very small, the toilet cover was broken. In the first morning we got up, to our surprise there were no water, we found out the water tank for the house was out of water so we had to wait for a while for the water to come. The staff was very nice but did not speak much English so it was hard to ask for anything.

Stella was really helpful and nice. Def worth a stay for the views from the rooms. Ideally located between the main shopping area and the upper section of Fira. Note that this means having to walk ~15mins each way when heading out.

Close access to the cliffside walkway and town of Fira. Bed linens and towels were dated, but clean and acceptable. Breakfast was complimentary. No restaurant on site, but many available within walking distance. No amenities at hotel other than standard bathroom toiletries. Our room was a separate apartment from the hotel with a very nice balcony with table and chairs.

Seeing Santorini is best done by car. The walks to Fira from Tholos Resort are possible but uphill on the way back from town. The resort itself requires lots of stair-walking from the rooms to the pool and to to the road.
The staff was very generous and friendly although not always knowledgeable about the details for sightseeing, directions to various parts of the island, maps, etc.
Anyone with physical disabilities would find this a difficult place to stay.

The location of this hotel is great. It is within walking distance to great shopping and nightlife in fira. The hotel is on a one way street and has great parking very close. The pool and showers are very nice. The staff is not extremley friendly but did accomodate us well. The rooms in the pictures look very nice but must be taken at some interesting angles. We were looking for a luxury hotel for one night for our wedding party. I wish we would have spend the extra money and stayed at the wedding site which was the donnas villas.

Schöne Lage, aber unkompetentes Personal

Bei Ankunft am Flughafen kein Transferbus. Als wir am morgen sehr früh ca. 06.50 ankamen, mussten wir auf unser Zimmer warten. Das war uns klar, weil wir gelesen hatten, Zimmer erst ab 14.00 Uhr frei. Aber uns wurde versprochen, dass wir um 08.00 Uhr ein Zimmer bekommen. So gegen 08.30 Uhr wurden wir zum Zimmer geführt. Ueberraschung: das Zimmer war belegt. Schöne Enttäuschung! Uns wurde ein anderes Zimmer gezeigt, viel kleiner und überhaupt nicht schön! Kein warmes fliessendes Wasser, man musste ca. eine halbe Stunde warten. Um l3.00 Uhr bekamen wir endlich unser erstes Zimmer, dass uns am Anfang gezeigt wurde, aber besetzt war. Wir haben so einen halben Tag vertrödelt! Man hätte uns sagen können, Zimmer erst um 14.00 Uhr, dann hätten wir uns anderst organisiert! Weiter: das Duschgel war fertig, habe freundlich für Nachschub gefragt, aber es kam nichts. Wir mussten ohne duschen. Zwei Mal ging unsere Türe nicht auf, der Chip funktionierte nicht! Kein prompter Service. Einmal fehlten die Handtücher! Einmal fehlte das WC Papier! Am Vorabend vor unserer Abreise, haben wir bei der Reception ein Taxi schon vorbestellt und den Call Boy für unser Gepäck organisiert. Am morgen bei der Abreise, haben wir uns verabschiedet, verliessen das Hotel, der Tranferbus war pünktlich da. Im Transferbus waren noch zwei Hotelgäste. Es verging eine Viertelstunde, kein Gepäck. Da haben wir ins Hotel angerufen, der Receptionist hatte mir gesagt, er finde keinen Call Boy. Wir mussten eine halbe Stunde auf unser Gepäck warten. Die anderen Hotelgäste waren wütend und wir auch! Wir sind sehr enttäuscht über den Service von diesem Hotel! Wirklich Schade, Dienstleistung gleich Null! Kein Viersternhotel, kein kompetentes Personal, kein prompter Service für den ziemlich teuren Aufenthalt! Und zuletzt mussten wir noch Euro 25 für den Bustransfer bezahlen!

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. The view from the balcony was amazing. Breakfast was included with our room and was served on our private balcony every morning! The staff are so helpful and Sofia (Manager) is so friendly. However, Imerovigli is far from the main town and amenities, such as travel agents, so book ferry tickets in advance. Also, stay away from Sunbird ATV and car rentals in Imerovigli - terrible and rude service, unreliable rentals, and they overcharge. They are known to "rip off" their customers.

Beautiful setting, spartan rooms

We stayed at the Hermes the first week of 2010. We had a little trouble with the A/C, but a call to Orbitz got the maintenance guys in gear and we were squared away for the rest of the week.
Elke (?) at the front desk was terrific! Also, the location is very good. Two short blocks to the beach and the boardwalk. The boardwalk is definitely the heart of Kamari.
Last, the rooms are sparse, and the beds aren't great but practical. The rooms appear to be timeshares, as each is decorated differently and with different furniture and appointments.
