Dorsett Regency Hotel Hong Kong

Spent a week at the Dorsett Regency and was very impressed overall. Some reports said that it was too far away from the centre of HK. To be honest, that was a bonus as far as we were concerned - quieter area and less commercialised! Transport not a problem - regular free shuttle bus, good and very cheap tram and bus link from right outside hotel to central HK at all hours. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, breakfast meals were pleasant and filling though a little unimaginative and the accomodation was top rate. If passing that way again we will most definately book with them. Well done Dorsett Regency!

The decorations of this boutique hotel would rival those in New York or San Francisco. The rooms are clean and the staff is eager to help. However, there are no concierge services, so the staff has limited knowledge of Hong Kong to help you. It's very far from downtown and taxis have a hard time finding it. It's 10 minutes away from the last MTR station (Sheung Wan), but there is a taxi stand two blocks away. There is no business center, but you can email your printing requests to the front desk. There is no gym onsite. The onsite restaurant is good and the breakfast buffet is included in the reservations we booked. This hotel is great for vacationers, but poor for business travelers.

The rooms were modern and clean but small and the location was kind of out of the way. The nearest MTR station was 10 mins by car away. The hotel does provide a free hourly shuttle to the MTR station but the shuttle service ends really early at night (around 8PM). But I got the hotel at a rate of around ~$90 per night so I can't really complain much. Note: There is a new MTR station under construction that is about a 5 mins walk from the hotel. But that station is not scheduled to be completed until late 2012 - early 2013.

Hotel très propre, très bien redécoré, un peu original dans sa conception (pas de lounge, bar, de salon, un hall accueil minimaliste mais efficace juste un restaurant au 3ème) . Les petits déjeuners sont copieux, variés et bons. La chambre et la douche rien à redire, les équipements sont de qualité et la douche avec la baie vitrée est une super idée. Dommage que la piscine n'était pas opérationnelle (il faudrait que ça soit signalé), mais elle devrait l'être prochainement. La localisation excentrée ne fut pas un réel souci car le tram et le bus desservent bien l’hôtel (cela fait juste perdre un peu de temps) et surtout le cout des taxis permet de les utiliser si on veut vraiment gagner du temps. En plus le quartier est vivant et typique c'est bien agréable comparé à Kowloon (Tsim Sha Tsui east) où nous avons résidé après qui avait moins de charme. C'est un excellent rapport qualité prix.
