Great value
Located right at the river near the Chain Bridge, the Intercontinenal was easy to find and close to the main shopping and within walking distance of several sights. Spa is available but we did not use it nor the restaurant.

Great deal in the middle of Budapest
After searching around online, this hotel was about the best deal in the middle of Budapest. Other places in the middle of the city were either more expensive or were cheap dives. The Intercontinental is right on the Danube, and half the rooms have spectacular river views, although it cost us 25 euros to upgrade to a river view room. The hotel located right in the heart of the city and is a few minutes walk from the major public transport hubs (bus and subway). It was also convenient for us as we were catching a river cruise, and we watched our cruise ship dock on the other side of the river from the hotel from our room, leaving no doubts about where we need to be to embark. The hotel also has taxis coming to the front door all the time. I heard they have a great breakfast buffet as well but we didn't try it.

Hild Etterem (Hild restaurant) located at Október 6 utca, 3 is a great, simple, traditional Hungarian restaurant in Central Pest. It is frequented by locals and has a history of over 70 years that spans the pre and post Communism period. Very good value for around $20 USD per person including 3 courses and drinks. Location, Location, Location
You couldn't find a hotel in a better location, unless had a room in the middle of Chain Bridge. The hotel is within walking distance of Parliament, St. Stephen's, the Chain Bridge, and Castle Hill. I had a room overlooking the street, but I suppose if you want to pay a few more forints, you can get a view of the Danube. The room was comfortable, and the staff was very helpful.

Room with Quite a View
English speaking front desk and concierge staff very informed and helpful. Hotel room was immaculate and had all amenities. The bed was very comfortable. It had a feather bed topper and 2 down pillows. This was very important on account of all the walking we did. The location of the Intercontinental is perfect for the traveller who likes to take in the sights and sounds of a vibrant historic city by foot. On one occasion we used the city tram which was steps away from the hotel. We loved Budapest and in six busy days there we explored the attractions including the ballet and a concert at the brand new Bela Bartok performance centre.

Fantastic stay in Budapest
Had a great stay in Budapest and Intercontinental was a really special place to stay. The rooms were beautifully clean and well laid out. There are only 2 criticisms - you can only have one child in a room with 2 adults and the breakfast is spectacularly expensive (€30), but you can have a wonderful breakfast for far less on Vorosmarty Ter which is 2 mins walk away

Lovely hotel, perfect location.
Lovely hotel, perfect location. Enjoyed dining on the Terrace, great menu and service and the view was terrific. Very sorry Viking Cruises wouldn't allow us to book into the Intercontinental in Prague. Thought Corso restaurant highly over-rated. Food was okay, service was terrible.

OK
I was there for work for six nights. The hotel charges 25 Euros for 24 hrs of wired internet. You can only get Wi-Fi at their lounge area which is not very impressive. My room had broken drapes and every morning I was woken up by bright sun rise. I asked them to fix it several times but nothing was done. I think it is a Hungarian thing but even the hotel staffs were somewhat rude.

Short walk from hotel
The hotel is very close to the main tourist pedestrian shopping area but it gets really old really fast. Every store sells same cheap stuff. I'd say spend an hour and you have seen everything around there.

If you plan on using public transportation to get around Budapest and were thinking about doing a cruise on the Danube River, you should look into the Legenda Card issued by the Legenda Cruise Company. It gives you unlimited rides on all public transportation within the city limits and a free daytime river cruise, along with discounts at select restaurants and attractions. You can pick it up at their ticket office at dock #7 on the Pest side. They offer different cards depending on your length of stay in Budapest.
