Not great, definately not a 5 star!!!
Great location and great concierge service! However, I would expect that a 5 star would provide complimentary bottles of water every night, not just the first night! Same for tea & coffee - not replenished and only one breakfast tea bag provided! Free wi-fi was one of the amenities advertised, however if a certain number of people are logged in at the same time (which was the case almost always!) you have to pay for it!!! Reception staff not too happy if you bring this up with them either! Cleaning only consists of making the bed and cleaning bathroom, no other tydying up done. Bed was broken in the room so every time you turned from one side to another it would make a lot of noise - so needless to say - didnt sleep great! Would not recommend!

Nice Hotel
After having been put in a smoking room which hadn't been updated (even though I'd booked a non-smoking one), upon the request to move, I was quickly given a modern, updated room with an even better view, minus the smoke smell. I can't believe they actually have smoking rooms in a "five star" hotel...I'd say it's 4.5, but I got a good deal through this site, and I would stay there again. It was hectic with the hotel fully booked, but the staff were pretty nice even though swamped. Spa amenities were my favorite. When travelling through Europe, often I'm disappointed by "five star" hotels, when juxtaposed with those we call five star in the States. Tough crowd, I guess, but overall, a great hotel.

A handy 24 hour market is located around the corner from the hotel entrance, and the Christmas Fair (opened prior to all of the Christmas markets) was also very close.

Fantastic location in a lovely hotel
My husband and I took my mother in law on a trip to Budapest for her birthday. This hotel exceeded expectations and had an extremely helpful concierge that made excellent dinner recommendations and reservations for us during our 6 night stay. The Sunday brunch is a can't miss! The drinks are very expensive at the bar, but the have a fantastic cocktail menu and a lovely outdoor lounge. We were upgraded to Junior suites and the rooms were beautiful. The only downside was some loud pounding during our last 2 nights that started around 5:30am and woke us up in both suites on separate floors. I meant to bring this to the attention of the staff, but forgot to do this. We highly recommend this hotel. Great location next to Danube.

Sofitel Chain Bridge
This hotel is perfectly located right at the most beautiful bridge in Budapest and is a couple minutes walk from a tram stop as well as a subway stop. The service is great, the rooms are fantastic and it was surprisingly a lot less than I would expect for a 5 Star hotel. Definitely stay here.

Almost Perfect
This hotel is truely 5Starl. It has spacious and well appointed rooms. The River side rooms have a magnificent view of the Danube River and the Buda Castle across on the other side. The hotel is near all the best Riverboat dinning places as well as many other eating venues. We dinned at the Spoon on the river and had a marvelously romantic dinner for two there. Breakfast was served in bed at precisely the ungodly hour we specified (5:30 a.m.) and was perfectly prepared and presented by the Hotel staff. Nearly everyone in the reception area spoke flawless English including the bell hops. The one exception was the young man tending the concierge desk. His English was not all that good and he messed a couple of things up for us because he didn't really understand what we were asking for and tried to bluff his way to sending us on our way. Fortunately, we have been to Budapest before and knew enough about what we needed to know to quickly see he had no idea what we were asking about. We had to tease the right answer out of him with a little skepticism and artful hints. Other than this one small hiccup, we love this hotel and its location and stay there whenever in Budapest. It is expensive, but you will be pampered if you are open to it.

Ideally Located
This is an truly upscale hotel - modern, luxurious, comfortable. The staff are great and speak English. The amenities are fine.I ate in their restaurant a few times and thought the food was great and the service fine. I would strongly recommend it to anyone. And one of the great things is the location - you are right at the foot of the Chain Bridge, so you can walk to Buda and the sights there in no time, and there is a tram in front of the hotel and the subway is only a few blocks away, so its super easy to get anywhere. And there are always nice cabs in front of the hotel, too.

Short walk from hotel
I don't like to use hotel minibars, so I usually stock up my room with some beverages, candy and snacks. There is 24-hour convenience store on the street to your left as you exit the hotel - its just a few doors up before you get to the post office - which was fine for my needs. But if you go up the street the hotel entrance is on there are two very nice food stores within two or three blocks, and they have a fine selection of Hungarian wines.

Excellent Romantic Break
Our welcome to the Hotel was warm and very helpful with great advice on local attractions. The Hotel is very comfortable and extremely clean and well presented. Situated at the Chain Bridge we had an excellent view of the Chain Bridge and Royal Palace, which was a picture at night. A big thank you to the staff as we had a very enjoyable stay. I highly recommend this Hotel
