Did the job

Taking an elderly disabled parent over to see relatives, we required a good location for various trips. The Skylon did cater for this requirement, but this was the only benefit for us. Despite booking a twin room with disabled facilities, we were given a double standard room, the room was then changed to a standard twin. The new room was at the far side of the hotel meaning we had 2 exterior walls to the room. As the heating was not turned on in the hotel until 7pm the room was freezing, and while the hotel provided a heater, we had an additional problem with the telephone, which meant we were moved rooms once again. Really can’t fault the staff, they were always polite, friendly and helpful, but with the addition of the hotel not offering a restaurant service other then on the weekend, really not very impressed with the hotel.

Nice but not what we book

The hotel was lovely and i think in a great location as a bus stop going either direction is pretty much right outside. But the room was not what i booked and they would claimed it was. Other than that lovely place too stay, the bar prices and dear. Yes i would stay again

Good designed hotel

Good designed hotel. We were accommodated immediately after arriving. The staff had answered of all our questions, unfortunately not always in friendly manner, and they never gave any suggestions. The room looks clean, but we noticed moths. There was no safe deposit box in the room. The hotel is located not on walking distance from center, and it is necessary to take bus. The price was good. The room was always supplied with coffee and tea, so anytime we were able to have a hot drink using room teakettle.

Good Location. Friendly Staff.

We were able to get right into room, since our flight came in earlier than check-in! Very friendly and helpful staff! Got us taxi when needed early morning rides, looked up info for buses and tour locations! Very warm in room, had heat turned all the way down and windows cracked open a bit a few nights. Light switches took some getting use to. Also had a single U.S. plug in case you don't have converter/adapter!!

Internet NOT available in all rooms

The staff were very friendly and generally helpful but lack of hospitality training is apparent. Hotel is conveniently located on several bus lines making a day or evening in the city centre an easy commute. Parking at €5 a day was a bargain and I had no trouble finding spots. Room was very clean and the bed comfortable. Although website advertises internet in all rooms, the older rooms have none and I was not told this on check-in. I asked to have my room changed but was told none were available. I was forced along with several other guests to spend my time in the lobby to access the wireless. The manager got back to me after my stay to apologize which I appreciated but that does not solve the problem for future visitors to the hotel as a check of the website today still states ALL rooms have ISDN internet connection. Overall, good value for a short holiday stay but lacks many amenities business travellers would expect.

Bus stop is across the street to the left. Enjoy the bus ride into the city centre and leave your car at the hotel, skipping the nightmare of driving and parking in Dublin

Skylon Hotel

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Good size rooms were clean and tidy with plenty of tea and coffee (a necessity!) We hadn,t been to Dublin for more than twenty years so it all seemed new but soon found our way around. A short bus ride and we were in o'connell street with shops and bars. Staff directed us to places of interest and provided tourist info. Overall, a very enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

Buy a 3 day bus pass. It can get a bit expensive otherwise.

My wife and I have stayed many

My wife and I have stayed many times in this hotel. We have been generally satisified. This time again with regard to the hotel we were satisfied. However this time the introduction of payment for parking was a disappointment. It was bad enough to have to pay but no preference is given for residents. On the day I arrived there were no spaces and was even told off for attempting to park. Had to park for a day on a nearby road. Would suggest double price for non residents and a smaller amount for residents ( if they have to charge.) Another moneymaking idea?? What about the customer experience.
