Not the best

[...] The room was large and had several extra ammenities (it was nice having a desk and safe in the room). The room was very clean and comfortable. The only real downside was the fact that the AC didn't seem to work. We discussed it with them a couple of times and they said they would look into it. But it didn't change. This room had a balcony and so we opened the door to let in some air. It wasn't horrible. But it was uncomfortable to sleep in. I'm guessing, but I'd say it was in the upper 70's in the room at night. So, the positives are that the staff were easy to work with and offered me a better room. They also happily set up taxi reservations. If it hadn't been for the airconditioning (for me this was a big one) the room would have been fabulous. We choose to use the bus system to move around. Since the hotel is across the street from Kilmainham Gaol, it has a Hop on Hop Off stop right across the street. Very handy. We mainly used the regular buses. That stop was another block down. This hotel is not near downtown. But it doesn't take long to get where to are going after the bus arrives. You are next to the Gaol and a Museum. But other attractions require a bus or taxi. This survey asked me if I'd recommend it or not. I had to pick, so I said "no." But, I think a better answer would be that I would recommend it with reservations. I don't think that the AC problem is common. But, there are probably better places to stay closer in to town.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

I did not get to eat at the Hotel restaurant. We had to leave for the airport before it opens. There are a lot of bakeries in Dublin. I went to Keogh Cafe on Trinity Street. (Near Temple Bar) They had wonderful muffins and scones. We took them to the airport for breakfast the next morning! Really nice staff!

Second stay : hotel redeems itself !

I stayed at this hotel only as a lay-over at the beginning and at the end of a lengthy multi-leg journey and so I deliberately chose a "branded" hotel(to have reliable comforts) within reasonable reach of the airport and the city center. My first stay disappointed me : the room was small and cramped - and despite numerous complaints I couldn't get a working tv - didn't find the room up to "Hilton" standards. I made my complaints heard and on my home-stretch I got a wonderful room with everything in working order; I also had opportunity to try out the spa pool which was wonderful and had a couple of meals in the two restaurants which were pretty average. The location was good - away from the hustle and bustle of the city center and yet with a hop-on-hop-off bus almost at the door. Dublin heusten station within a good 20-30 minute walk from the hotel (not 5 minutes as stated on some other tarvel sites).

Hotel is nice but the food is terrible

The hotel was very nice, clean and warm and all the staff were very friendly but the food was terrible and a total rip-off. The presentation of the food was A1, once you didn't have to eat it. It might seem you are getting a good deal but they get you with all the associated costs like parking and €13 for a continential breakfast.
