Run down dont let the photo fool you

Look i wasn't expecting the Ritz but i did expect BASIC HYGENE. I'm not a picky man and I did do this night away on the cheap, this is the first time i have ever seriously considered leaving a hotel and booking into somewhere else. we were in room 106. There was mildew everywhere, on the walls of the the bedroom the bathroom and on the curtains. Don't let that lovely photo of the reception area deceive you

The musty smell that greeted us

The musty smell that greeted us as we walked through the front door sent alarm bells ringing. The lady at the front desk was helpfull and friendly but that was where the good experience ended. (except for the location - which was good) The room needed fresh paint, the carpets needed cleaning, the bathroom needs major overhaul - . leaking taps, mould in the shower, sharp metal brackets need removal, needs an exhaust fans. The room needs an air conditioner OR Fan OR a heater - it has none of the above. The curtains were filthy. The TV remote controls did not work. There is a nite club two doors away that played music till 4am on the two nights we were there.

The location is great, right in

The location is great, right in central Dublin. Easy stroll to main shopping street and there is a Tesco about 5-10min's walk away. The price is good for Dublin average. If you are driving, remember to call i nadvance to secure a parking spot because parking during daytime in town can be costy. Ceiling and wall corners can be a bit moldy but bed and shower place are tidy and neat. The best part is that the place has WiFi. Recommended!

You get what you pay for

This is ok if you're looking for a cheap hotel fairly centrally located. The room and bathroom were mostly clean, don't expect anything remotely fancy. The staff is friendly. The place was a little noisy when people were coming and going Not sure if it's listed but parking is 10 Euro

Mixed review

It wasn't as close to the main shopping area as I would have liked. But when I arrived at about 10 a.m. I couldn't check into a room, so I left my suitcase in the lobby, and went to the museums, and walked around the area until check in, which was 2 or 3p.m. The first room they gave me on the ground floor, had an annoying humming sound, so I requested another room. The next room was 2 floors up, so I had to lug the big suitcase up the stairs. Then I tried to open the door and it wouldn't open. I had to go back down the stairs to get help with the door. The lady had to jiggle the key around for a while before it worked, then she acted like I was crazy, and that there wasn't a problem with the door. So the next morning I was leaving for the day and I had to wrestle with the door to lock it. So later when I returned, once again I couldn't get into the room. Luckily when I went back downstairs this day the handyman was there. So he and another staff member helped me get in the room. The handyman fixed the problem. After that there were no further problems with the door. There was a nightclub close playing loud music. The room was comfortable.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Sit down restaurants are very expensive. So, I bought food from the local grocery store called Spar about four blocks away, and ate in my hotel room. Also pub food is more reasonably priced. It's a nice walk to the Dart (train station) about 17 blocks.

Excellent location for the price

We are two PhD students who traveled for research. So, for us, the Inn was a great deal for the location and quality (most of the hostels were 5X as expensive). Some critiques include our room wasn't ready when we checked in, the maids would come in without knocking, paint job was hurried, carpets had stains, and no shower curtain so the floor was flooded after every shower. However, it was five minutes to St. Stephen's Green, a 15 minute power walk to Trinity College, and a 20 minute power walk to Temple Bar. The Inn was quiet, though it is located between a few pubs and restaurants, so there was plenty of noise on the weekends.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

If you walk to Temple Bar during the afternoon, you can find pubs with live music that are significantly less crowded. In the evenings Temple Bar gets super crowded, and you will have to push your way to the bar or even for a spot inside. Also, take advantage of the "early" dinners which are much cheaper and are available until 7pm at most pubs and restaurants. We really liked Gallagher's Boxty House and their Murphy's Beef Stew, Irish Beef Stew, and Corn Beef and Cabbage.

Dublin is a great time

My boyfriend and I had a great time with our trip. The hotel was one block away from the entrance to St Stephen Green- a 10 minute walk to Grafton Street - and a 20 min walk to Temple Bar. This was perfect for us because we loved walking the city and taking in the culture. The room was tidy and towels were changed daily and the bed was always made but there appeared to be mold on the ceiling. Also there are no bars or pubs around the hotel at all so you need to make the trip into city centre for any type of nightlife.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

I would ABSOLUTELY look into the Rural Pub Tour- gives your a great chance to explore popular moutain pubs and meet the locals with a knowledgable guide and a designated driver. Great fun and a good way to meet people from all over
