From the outside the g hotel Galway looks more like an office block, but the minute you walk in the front door, it's a different story.... The decor is bright modern, plush and sexy! The rooms are comfortable, clean with big flat TV screens, complimentary ...water and cupcakes in the rooms (very nice) pity no coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms though... They offer a turndown service each evening and prepare the bed, close the curtains, replace with fresh water... again a nice little touch... I only stayed one night (Saturday night) and wanted to have a treatment but unfortunately they were booked up (so I would suggest to book ahead and not be disappointed). The only time avaialble for dinner was 9.30pm (which is a little late but they were busy), so again book ahead as the restaurant is very popular, particularly at weekends. The food was superb and the service excellent, the breakfast also was fabulous with a varied choice of buffet or a la carte menu. An unforgetable 5 star experience and would love to come back and stay longer.... Expensive but worth it !

Great find! I would recommend staying here to anyone visiting Galway. Once, arriving at the apartment we didn't even need to drive the car because it was walking distance to everything we wanted to see (ex. bay, pubs, city center)

Excellent apartments with great views over Galway, pretty pricy but as a once off on holiday I would definatley recommend it. Only a couple of things let it down would have helped if we had known that you had to call in at a nearby hotel to collect keys etc this would have saved us driving around Galway in the rain!. Ensuite bathroom shower door was removed which meant even when you were careful having a shower the water went everywhere would have helped if more towels were provided.

Great service, good location & short walk away from shopping/pedestrian area w/pubs & restaurants galore! Rooms were comfortable & quiet. Bathroom a little tired & towels pretty cheap but overall good. I would definitely go back. An Pucan Pub directly across the street is fabulous w/Irish music every night.

Great modern and elegant spa hotel.We stayed one night and our room had a seaview which we did not expect. We would recommend the hotel for short and long stay .We had a car and drove to the centre but we were told that there was a bus service connecting the hotel with the city center. Would stay there again.

This is a great hotel for location for anyone interested in being near the "action". It is right on the very active waterfront and adjacent to the main shopping and night life area. The room was clean and functional with a great view. Each night sounded like a party was in progress right outside of the window, and there probably was. It wasn't raucous enough though to keep me from getting a good night's sleep and I would definitely recommend this hotel for young, energetic individuals.

Ideal for shopping in Galway city. Beside all the shops and nothing will beat walking next door for a supermac's at 2.30 in the morning and having it in the residents lounge. Breakfast is ok very basic just continental.

Very comfortable hotel,central to everything. Staff friendly and could not complain about anything. Only thing we had to complain about is that we wanted a late check out on the last morning however due to the hotel bookings we were unable to stay any later than 12noon

We booked this hotel last minute for an over night stay in Galway. It was a great value for $71 after tax. The location was great, it really was a two minute walk from the train station and very close to the happening area of Galway. When we arrived the front desk man was very nice and we checked in right at three pm. Our room was very clean and nice for what we paid. There are only three tv channels but as tourists that wasn't so important. Overall this was a great value and we would stay here again.

we went to the Forster after having a rough night in another local hotel. we were very pleased with the bed ... quite comfortable. aside from the floor of the bathtub being EXTREMELY slippery, the accommodations were great ... clean bathroom big plus for me! had breakfast in the bar, pretty decent irish breakfast.

5 of us stayed in an "apartment" in the Carlton hotel for 2 nights on 28 August 2010. Checking in was very unfriendly and unhelpful, typical lack of staff training and general poor attitude of the Irish receptionist (checking out was better, more friendly - non - Irish receptionist). The apartment was ok,but no cooker although an extractor fan was provided(?). Apartment was small and was pretty hard to get around with the excessive use of very heavy fire doors (one required to open 4 such doors to travel from bedroom 1 to 2) Generally the hotel is of a very poor standard of design, i would suspect an untrained/unqualified person was employed by the owners to "design" the hotel rather than an architect, the main restaurant was hilariously tacky - decked out in fake stone chairs (think Stonehenge from Spinal Tap) and huge plaster arms holding up part of the ceiling (think Scarface). Getting from the reception to hotel room would require a map or at least staff who could direct guests although the guy we met on corridor hadn't even enough English to say "i don't speak english" im sure if he was trained he could have went in search of a colleague who could assist but he just went back to vacuuming the corridor.Internet situation was pretty poor, no wi-fi instead one had to take long walk to pay €10 deposit at reception to avail of internet cable...reception had no change of a €20 and seriously suggested that we give them the full €20 as deposit rather than getting change for us (or better still have a float available at reception). Shoddy hotel won't be back, woken during the night by hen party cackling up and down the corridor, also guy being restrained from a fight when I was moving my car on the sat night. Give it a miss...seriously.

Carvery lunch was ok on Saturday but dinner in the restaurant on Sunday evening was not so good. Soup was watery and steak was tough. Would stay in the hotel again but will not be eating in the restaurant again.

We absolutely loved [...] (the hotel manager) and his staff. They were so kind and helpful. The room was in good shape, and the location is perfect for exploring Galway and the Western coast of Ireland. In fact, we were so impressed with Travelodge in Galway that we stayed at the Travelodge in Dublin as well.

Chose hotel on cost & location for a weekend including connacht rugby match. No complaints exactly as expected. Found the staff to be first class. Good sized comfortable bed & room but the bathroom was very small and one could over hear the conversations in the next room through the vent in the bathroom wall. OK if you like that sort of thing I suppose!!

Nous sommes arrivés à Galway et avons trouvé très facilement, même pas besoin de s'engouffrer en centre ville. Grand parking gratuit, ça commence plutôt bien. Direction l'accueil/réception, en longeant le restaurant d'un côté et le pub de l'autre, et là accueil parfait, chaleureux, un jeune homme souriant, attentionné, qui propose même de mettre au frais mon insuline car la chambre que j'ai réservé ne dispose pas de frigo. Forte impression.
Voyons voir ce que donne la chambre maintenant: accès rapide par ascenceur, portes coupe feu et surprise : la même exactement que celle sur la photo, grande, lumineuse, d'une propreté exemplaire, bien agencée et la literie parfaite. Grand lit confortable, salle de bain moderne et chique, produits de toilette, etc... et un coffre fort gratuit avec digicode personnalisable.
Le seul "reproche" concerne l'éloignement du centre ville et des rues piétonnes. 3 kms à faire en voiture ou en bus. A pied ça grimpe fort pour revenir. Bonne méthode pour éliminer les effets de la bière.
Et la veille de notre départ nous avons découvert un service de navette gratuite mis en place par l'hôtel, via un minibus peint à l'effigie du Flannery's.
Bref de loin le meilleur rapport qualité/prix que j'ai rencontré en europe. Et le personnel est exceptionnel. Ils aiment leur boulot et ça se voit.
J'y retourne en famille et je recommande chaudement. Et de ma part c'est rarissime. Je précise que le resto et le pub ne sont nullement bruyants. De même, l'hôtel est en retrait de route, donc pas de nuisance sonore.

Great staff, good central location

I messed up our arrival date, getting there a day early, late at night, tired and hungry. They were all booked up, but the staff went out of their way to help us find a place nearby and get something to eat. [...]The room was nice and we met ome nice people in the pub at the hotel.

Great time in Galway

This was the last leg of our anniversary trip to Ireland. The hotel's location is great- a short walk to the shopping and nightlife. When booking, we were unaware it was the week of the Galway Races. Upon learning this, we thought the hotel might be a little crazy. But, while it was a fun and lively atmosphere, we had no problem at all with noise when back at our room trying to sleep. Nice and clean too. All and all a great experience!

Typical Biz Hotel with Excellent staff

In the middle of an Irish vacation, I was asked to conduct a phone interview for a job I've been seeking for several months. I knew that Courtyard by Marriot Hotels were "Biz First" hotels, so I decided to try and find one to use the business center and other facilities.
The first problem I encountered was the internet search engine promised more benefits than the hotel actually offered. Free Parking, free wireless, breakfast, etc. When I booked thru Orbitz, my reservation had NONE of the normal Courtyard perks. It also rejected any of my coupon codes I had from my credit card (AmEx Blue) and other corporate discounts.
The next problem was that the "business centre" was nothing more than some PC's next to the check-in desk, in an open lobby next to the main entrance. IT was worse than useless for a business interview on with multiple clients.
The saving grace? The amazing courteous, friendly helpful staff. This hotel chain still understands that the best feature a hotel can have is customer service. They cheerfully provided some of the perks promised by the search (though not all. but I can hardly blame them) and were helpful with the local attractions and bus service.

The House Hotel has a great location, really close to everything. If I were to be picky I'd say the room was a bit small, the bed a bit too firm, not enough pillows to feel plush. But for the right price I'd stay here again.
