Loved the character of the place. Great location in town, right in the middle of the pubs, restaurants, and shopping. Live music in the hotel bar was very well done. I'd stay there again.

Exceptional
Great location, close to train and bus stations and can walk everywhere in town easily. The staff was great, breakfast was very good and they have a great bar, the Buckley, that has authentic local Irish music, great friendly crowd that makes you feel like you are home no matter where your from. Will stay here again if lucky enough to make it back to Killarney.

Great location, old world service
Immediately upon arriving we were greeted by the staff running out to get our luggage, and an offer to park our car for us. Every request was met, and met promptly. The free car park is a short walk, but it makes it easier to get out of town (and the traffic). This is an older building, and at times can be noisy. Our room (114) was large, and also included some electric adapters (as well as a blow dryer). I could access wi-fi in my room, though some could only use it in the lobby. We only had breakfast in the restaurant, but the food was good, and the service was attentive. My wife spent mornings browsing the shops while I played golf, and then we spent afternoons touring the countryside to wonderful towns, like Dingle, Kinsale, Cobh, and Kenmare. She felt very safe walking the streets, and though downtown has a lot of tourist shops, it has plenty of variety of retail businesses. Killarney is a great place to stay for easy access to other parts of southern Ireland. We would definitely stay here again.

The Smokehouse was the only restaurant that opens early in Killarney (6:00 am). It is a short walk downtown, but has great service and food.

family run, local hotel is fantastic
[...] continues a proud family tradition at the Arbutus Hotel in the heart of Killarney. Each room is uniquely furnished, the hotel history shines through while the modern conveniences including free internet make for a pleasant and comfortable experience. Breakfast, full Irish or continental buffet, is perfect. Coffee and fresh baked scones are the best!

next door to the Arbutus, don't miss Murphy's bar - good food, nice atmosphere, and mid-week local musician entertainment.
