Good stay with a couple of issues

  • 3 Oct 2011
The Clarion Hotel in Limerick was a good choice for this visit because my adult sons were along and they like to go out to the pubs and clubs that are all within walking distance of this hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean however, if you want a full or king bed it is really two twin beds pushed together so there is a ridge down the center. Most of the staff was top notch! The bar and resturant staff (with the exception of one server) were not good. They all had snotty attitudes and acted like they were doing us a favor by waiting on us. The food service is very slow but if you don't want to go out some of the choices are very tasty. The breakfast buffet was really great and the staff at breakfast were FABULOUS! The other wait staff should take a lesson from them. There is a public parking structure right acroos the drive and they give a very good rate for anyone staying at the hotel. There is also a really great french resturant right across the street that is really worth a try (The French Table) great food & really great service. There are lots of pubs and clubs within walking distance and some have afterhours (until 5am) drinking. We would recommend this hotel to friends

Friendly Staff, Outdated Building

  • Honeymoon Transit Verified Customer
  • 25 Oct 2011
Very friendly staff (as they claim), they appeared to have a nice restaurant (didn't have time to go in), but the rooms/hallways were lacking. When you have to walk all the way around the building on your floor, and have to open about 10 (no exaggeration) firedoors, while carrying luggage, it's a sign that the building needs upgrading. The rooms were quaint and decent. The bathrooms were fairly nice. Good location (few blocks walk) to the bus and train station. I'd give it 3.5 stars.

Our room was nice and large with a nice bathroom but the other room that I booked for our friends was tiny and was a smoking room and really smelt dreadful. The reception staff were not interested at all with the problem. Parking was in a dingy car park around the corner which was not very convenient with luggage. The hotel seems quite large and you have to wander through lots of corridors with heavy fire doors. Breakfast was OK but I wouldn't stay there again.

The Strand is a good hotel while in Limerick on a business trip

  • PJBusy Verified Customer
  • 29 Jan 2012
The hotel is in a good location, right across the Shannon River from lots of shops and restaurants. There are also lots of places to walk and it feels very safe even if you are alone at night. There is a parking structure adjoining the hotel so if it is raining you can get to your car without getting wet. Parking is at a premium here so that was a big plus, parking was 5 Euro per day. The front desk staff is ok, not overly helpful but OK. The maintenance staff was extremely helpful! Myself and my co-workers all had the same problem with our rooms being very dim. The light bulbs are just not bright enough. Also, they do not have air conditioning when it is not summer and it was very hot in our room. Maintenance was not able to turn on the AC but they did turn off the heat and gave me a fan and, with the window opened it was comfortable. Maintenance also changed out all fo the light bulbs for me with brighter bulbs. I think the staff person’s name was Eric, he was GREAT!!! The resturant is good and the bar is also good. Breakfast is a very nice buffet with lots of choices. They do have room service with a couple items even available 24hours a day. The bathroom is very roomy and had ample counter space and good towels. The only bad thing was the very limited choices of television programming. No sports channels (we went down to the bar for some matches/games).

I chose this location as a place to stay when I flew into Shannon unexpectedly. My requirements were peaceful, quiet and a close walk from the bus station. After just having flown in all night from the states and a bus trip from Shannon to Limerick this place was warm and welcoming and peacefully quiet. The receptionist was kind and understanding and wanted my stay to be just what I expected and it was! A late breakfast was offered and gratefully accepted, a wish for a quiet sleep was wished and accepted with an appropriate wake-up call performed. Dinner in the bar was delicious and fun with lots of cheerful banter and friendly service. Thank you, Jurys Inn Limerick!

We went to Ireland to vacation and spent quite a bit of money on B&B's. Our flight home was early in the morning so we chose the travel lodge through Orbitz. We prepaid and it was a little under 40 bucks. Great price, great location, clean, not fancy but that was OK. The gal at check in was trying to get an extra $28. from us. Not sure why but I whipped out my Orbitz travel form to show that we had prepaid and that was the end of that. Would stay again because it was such a bargain.

Booking this motel was a definte mistake. The first being their deceptive advertising concerning the hotel's wifi. Wifi is available, but you pay for it. Inside the room, you have nothing except the beds. There is no table, no burrows, drawers, wardrobes, nothing to put away your clothes. There is no hairdryer, iron, or even soap in the bathroom. Some of the staff were also unfriendly. The room was also noisey during the night. The tv, while new, and a flat screen, was mabye a 16 inch tv.

Lynch South Court Hotel, LIMERICK, Ireland, was a bad experience. The hotel staff was unfriendly and rude. The beds were uncomfortable and the plumbing in the bathroom was very poorly maintained. The guest laundry was filthy - it couldn't have been cleaned recently. The room was VERY stuffy, so we opened the window for ventilation; unfortunately, between the car alarms going off and the airline crews that were extremely noisy when they checked out at 0100, 0300 and 0400, we got very little sleep. The hotel is too far from the Shannon airport if you have to make an early morning flight.

At the end of a three week holiday staying in hostels, wanted a nice hotel before we got on the plane. This place was perfect. Very nice rooms. Staff was friendly. One the edge of the city center.

Description
A sophisticated 18th century inn nestled in a story-book village, Dunraven Arms is set among the thatched cottages of Adare alongside the River Maigue. Ideally located for equestrian sports, golf and fishing, it also provides award-winning dining and a health and leisure centre with a pool, gymnasium and massage therapy rooms. More like a country house than a hotel, the atmosphere is homely with warm colours, blazing fires, a wealth of antiques, fine paintings and a bar with handsome, dark leather seating. Every guest room has a dressing-room and suites have four-poster or half-tester beds. Taste classical Irish cuisine with a modern twist in the award-winning restaurant, The Maigue. Play golf on one of two courses, both within walking distance, or head to nearby Limerick for a day at the races.
