A mix up re booking details was sorted out at reception. Breakfasts were good and rooms are spacious. Driving in and out of the city, from the hotel, was very easy, with light traffic. Car parks in the city are clearly indicated and in good time. In this respect, Waterford is a model and a lovely city.

The Waterford Marina is an OK Hotel we had only a 1 night stay staff were accommodating with a room change as the first room was a family room they changed us to a double as had been requested. As we were leaving early we were also able to have a continental breakfast prior to the dining room opening. Overall it met requirements but would not be 4star by Australian standards. Oct. 2010

Great location right on the river with relatively easy access in and out of the city. The room was comfortable and clean but the public areas (landings and hallways) are in need of thorough cleaning. Staff were, for the most part, indifferent and sluggish. I would stay at this hotel again but purely for convenience.

We wanted to tour the city and this hotel was farther out than described. We did enjoy the tour of the Waterford Crystal showroom.

If you love golf, and getting far away from it all, this is the place. I had to ask for another room because the first one reeked of cig smoke. Beautiful setting and "grand" looking interior. Breakfast was quite good, but dinner was a 4 course serving (very nicely done dishes) but quite expensive. It took half an hour to drive into the city.

Description
A really fantastic renovation of combining classic Georgian elagence with all mod cons. (rt07.10) The Athenaeum House Hotel or Rocklands House as it was originally known, is a two storey over basement Georgian Style House with a wing building attached. This was obviously a very large Merchants house with big hall and reception rooms. The new owners have managed to maintain a lot of the original plaster work, fireplaces and windows. It has a commanding position set upon a large outcrop over looking the Harbour and the River The Athenaeum House Hotel is set in six acres of Parkland over looking Waterford Harbour on the banks of the river Suir.

This hotel was very clean, comfortable and the room was a very good size. The staff very friendly and helpful. The only criticism I would have would be the shower, it was a mixer tap shower and not electric, so the water was hard to regulate and kept going from very cold to very hot. The location is great, with lots to do and see.

There was a club right underneath the hotel room window. People were fighting, drinking, and cursing until 5 am. The concierge wasn't available when I called so I had to deal with it. This was on Easter Sunday night. The water from the shower also didn't get hot for 10 minutes. There was a sign near the bathroom sink stating that the hotel's water appeared brown sometimes. It didn't provide a solution; they just acknowledged it. Furthermore, the hotel ad acts like its in a central location. It's not in Waterford City--it's 45 minutes away in Waterfird County!
