Small hotel located in the very center of Catania and its famous Elephant Statue. The hotel also has a reading room. 1010 GA The building itself is historical, dating from the late seventeenth century. It was completely refurbished in 2001. The hotel is located in the heart of Catania's historical centre, just a brief stroll away from Piazza Duomo and Via Etnea.

A Study in Contrast

First, the good points - the two gentleman who staffed the front reception desk were really terrific. They could work in a "Four Seasons" resort hotel any day of the week. (One spent approximately forty-five minutes trying to help me contact "Air Malta".) additionally, the hotel has a great location. The bad points are numerous. The hotel is very dated. Yes, there is a new flat screen on the wall, but the plugs for it hang to the side where you could easily catch on them. The bed was a board. Light bulbs were out, mosquitos in the room, and the black mold in the tiny shower. No lift, and the stairs were steep and worn.(Easy to slip on....) Breakfast was skimpy and coffee cold. Hope this helps, I will not return, but I would hire either one of the front desk guys, if I owned a hotel.
