It doesn't look like much from the outside, but once inside it is a grand old hotel. Its a little past its prime but clean and comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful. The included breakfast buffet is excellent. The location is great. Walking distance to the river, consulate, train station and car rentals. I would stay there again if in Florence. There is a very nice local restaurant across the street.

We were very glad we chose this hotel. The desk staff was very courteous and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated and was very spacious for a European room. The bathroom was also roomy and modern with big,soft towels. My only complaint about the room is that the mattress was very hard but this seems to be the norm in Italy. I guess they just like extra firm mattresses. The complimentary breakfast was very good with plenty of food choices including fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, cheeses and other "heartier" items. They also have a nice lobby area with comfy chairs and sofas for reading and relaxing. The Adriatico is located within walking distance of the train station. Close enough that you can walk it even when pulling a suitcase. It is centrally located to many of the "must see" sights in Florence with lots of restaurants and bars close by. It was a little noisy the first night since it was the night the street cleaners came through. Although the air conditioning was not running yet the weather in early May is still cool and we were very comfortable, we even needed a blanket at night. I highly recommend this hotel and if we ever get a chance to go to Florence again we'll stay at the Adriatico.

Great location, close to train station but not too close. Room was a nice size. Public areas of hotel were absolutely gorgeous. Room itself was rather plain. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom had full size tub and shower. Great roof top public area on 3rd floor where you can sit and read and get some sun. Wireless in hotel lobby only. Had shampoo, bath wash, hair dryer, TV, air. Overall experience was very positive.

The hotel was hard to find (as is common in this area), but the location was great. It is in the heart of the city. Everything is in short walking distance of the hotel. It's a bit dated, but the view from the roof top restauant is spectacular and almost worth the stay by itself. The rooms are small in comparison to American Hotels, but it was adequate. We were lucky to have suites at all of our other hotels in Italy, so this one did seem small, but by european standards it is normal in size.

I went with my friend for the night and ended up staying an extra night. The staff was great, friendly and very helpful. I plan on going back. Great location, across the street from the train station and a few minute walk to the Duomo and other great attractions.

Zimmer wunderschön, Frühstück bekamen wir gratis (obwohl laut Website extra 7 €), war aber auch nicht wirklich berauschend um ehrlich zu sein, sonst alles super, sehr sauber, Klimaanlage super funktioniert, leider etwas laut da Fenster straßenseitig, Lage großartig, direkt bei Santra Croce und den Uffizien etc., Personal sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich

This hotel was a like a Victorian-decorated house. It was beautiful. Rooms had antique furniture, so not much counter space anywhere. Very helpful staff, carried our bags and showed us to our room. Very secure parking and they even let us leave the car the next day after check-out. Conveniently close to city center, easily within walking distance of museums and churches.

Hotel has a great location, just across the street from the river. Breakfast was good. There is a patio on the room with the best views of the city. Great place to watch a sunset. Rooms were clean, comfortable. Staff was very helpful and kind. Would stay there again on our next trip to Florence.

Really good location, standard continental breakfast. Upgraded to superior room but view was of residential apartments. The restaurant next door was very good and the prices very reasonable.

The location was terrific. It was very close to the train station, just as described. It was very close to the market which made it fun. The room had old world charm while being very comfortable. The staff was helpful with directions, maps, and changing money. The breakfast was excellent. My only complaint is that I thought internet access was available free, however, in order to use their guest computer in the lobby, I would have had to purchase a computer card for 6 euros. (On principle alone, I did not.) Other than that, it was a great hotel and I loved Florence!

The apartments are all rebuilted up one year ago so they're clean, beautiful and cozy. Bed and sofa bed are new and confortable. Kitchens are fully equipped and modern.The finishing is the typical Tuscany style with modern confort:flat Tv ,dvd ,air conditioned. Bathrooms are all in Tuscany murble.24 H assistance and for our guest bottle of Chianti wine and wine tasting for 2 adults for free!

It was an overall horrible experience for us. They claimed that we didnt inform them of our arrival and ofcourse in our opinion, booking that room and have been charged for it is informative enough but well, our words against theirs. They transferred us to another location on the other side of florence (was supposed to be near Duomo). The walk there was about 30 mins. Phone numbers provided on the booking didnt work at all and after trying for an hour it finally worked and was told that we caught them at a bad time, and that they were unprepared. They sent a random guy to drop off the keys and show us the apartment and was asked by this random guy to have our passports. We refused and was told that we couldnt stay in that apt since its the law in italy to keep a copy of our passports. They then gave us a non existing address to drop the copies of passports in the next morning. We looked for 2 hours and finally gave up and left them a message to come to us since we couldnt find them, no responce at all for those days we stayed there. Description on the booking says they provide internet access and the lady on the phone none of their apartments have that service. Scam! Stay away if you can.

The contact number which appear from the itinerary is never worked!! We called more than 15 times wen we arrive the showed address but no one picked up, no one answer the door, luckily a gentleman let us go in to his house to use the internet connection and find out another contact number from the homepage.

This Hotel is an old world gem. The staff was great. At first they put us in a room too far away from the center of the hotel, and when asked about a change, they did it right away and sent someone to help. The location is grewat, near the RR station, with access to all public transport. And it is located near everything you want to see in Florence

The hotel was extremely well located. We got good recommendations for traditional restaurants. The food was never disappointing. We walked just about everywhere (sights, restaurants). The cafe service was fabulous! Exceptional pastries! Some problems with the communications between [...] and the hotel. We had to pay 1000 Euros up front. Hopefully this is now resolved. Our flight out of Florence was at 6:50 am. We thought we had to be there three hours early. As it turned out, the airport doesn't open before 5:00 am., so we waited outside the airport for two hours!

A true little gem of a hotel.

I booked this hotel after reading reviews on many different websites. The location couldn't have been much better, everything in the centre was easily within walking distance, the Duomo being less than 5 mins, Michelangelo's David being less than 5 in the other direction, and the Palazzo Medici practically next door.
I was greeted by fantastic, friendly staff who gave me a map and pointed out all the sites and gave tips on where to walk to reach that point.
The room was spotlessly clean, as was the shower/toilet room. I slept easily every night in a comfortable bed. I didn't have breakfast while I stayed because I was always in a hurry to get out and explore.
I think you would have to go a long way to match this little gem for the price.

THE best location in Florence!

If you want the absolutely best location in Florence, the Hermitage Hotel is it! This hotel is definitely a little known gem since the cab driver had to ask the policemen on the corner near Ponte Vecchio where it was, and they didn't even know, even though they were only 10 yards from it! After getting past the check-in procedure, which was a little awkward being on the 5th floor, we got into our room and fell in love with the cute antique furniture, the great view of the street (Ponte Vecchio was blocked out by the Corridoio Vasariano), and the awesome bathroom with a huge jacuzzi tub! This was all great compared to typical European rooms. The view from the rooftop veranda was spectacular! The hotel is nice and secure at night with two locked doors, and a security code to enter the elevator. We always felt safe. The only disappointment really was the limited breakfast offering they had. This is not a 5-star hotel, but it is a great deal for the cost, and in a great location, if I haven't mentioned that yet. We will plan to stay here again when we return to Florence!

I loved this hotel! It is perfectly located in front of the Ponte Vecchio. The hotel is a typical small Italian hotel, the atmosphere is cozy and very welcoming. It was quiet and peaceful and the staff was very helpful. The perfect hotel to stay in if you're visiting Florence.

Grand Hotel Mediterraneo was definitely good value for the money. Only two drawbacks: the hotel was a 20-minute walk from the center of town in the blazing sun when the temp averaged 97 degrees, and many of the hotel staff were not friendly -- generally polite but without warmth.

Mostly fine, but used towels were left in the tub from the last guest, perhaps an isolated oversight. The hotel is an island ringed by highways so eat there or drive elsewhere - don't walk. Parking is convenient. The restaurant was good, perhaps not stellar. Overall, we would stay there again if flying out of FLR.

I was looking for a hotel near the airport as I had a very early flight, so my experience was somewhat limited. As it happens, the hotel airport shuttle doesn't start until 8:30, so I had to take a 25 euro cab ride (!).
They advertise internet availability, but it's expensive at 6 euros for a half-hour. They do have computers in the lobby to use, but they blocked my e-mail provider, so that proved to be useless.
Finally, the "always open" cafe was closed, so I called room service. No answer. I contacted the front desk. They said to call the bar instead. The bar said to call room service. I told them what the front desk said, so they (rather surily) took my order. Room service called a bit later to say that what I wanted was not available (in spite of what the room service menu promised), so I had to order something else. The food finally arrived and wasn't bad. The hotel is in a business park area and other food options are either nonexistent or not obvious.
I wouldn't go back.

I love Renaissance history, medieval churches, museums and exploring new places. From this hotel, it's a five minute walk to the train and bus stations and a three minute walk to the Duomo, Baptistry and Bell Tower. The Medici chapels are two blocks away. Museums, churches, the Arno River are all within easy walking distance. Thus, La Gioconda is a smart choice for its excellent location. Hotel has no elevator and rooms are small but clean. That's OK if one travels light and does not spend much time in the hotel room. The bed, shower, and bidet were all good. Air conditioning unit through the window. Small safe for valuables in room. Breakfast is adequate. Hotel has a helpful website with maps, walks, sights.

Better than hotels we stayed in in Paris and Nice, France. Clean, friendly, spacious and with helpful staff. Rooftop bar/lounge with amazing view of sunset, moonrise and Duomo! Walking distance to all tourist must-see areas, if you are fit to walk (otherwise, buses, etc. close-by). Will return if we are lucky to visit Florence again.

This was the best hostel I have stayed at. They offer so many things, and are very kind and accomadating. Very clean, great breakfast, free wifi, free AC, short walking distance to everything in Florence, including the train station...

Hotel had very hard & thin pillows! They also dont replace shampoo & soap. We couldnt sleep very well. But reception was excellent in their service & recommendations & it was a cute hotel, in a good location.

The staff was English speaking, cordial, and very helpful. The included breakfast had variety and was very good. The room was average in size, but clean and comfortable. The hotel has a good location within a short walk of the train station, restaurants, shopping, and museums.

The hotel was clean, staff was friendly, location was in a 10min. walking distance from the train station which was a big plus for us.
The problem is they have no elevator and we were on the fifth floor. Carrying luggage up 5 floors is not fun.

The location was great. 5-10 min walk from the train station and very close to a lot of the attractions. The bathroom was the only negative experience for me. There were body hair from the previous guests in the tub and on some of the towels. yuck.

We received the exact room type we had booked, a Deluxe Executive room. It was very spacious, with a foyer and a large bathroom. Modern amenities all functioning, incl. AC. Recent renovations combined the modern with the old. Hotel is located in one of the oldest towers of the city. The lobby is on the small side, but has an attached restaurant/bar. Great shopping nearby. Manager and front desk engaging and professional.

Rapport qualité prix imbattable en février, trés beau bâtiment du genre "anglais" à florence au début du siècle dernier.Trés calme.
Parking gratuit (si place).10minutes/1/4 d'heure à pied du Ponte Vechio !Un des plus beau quartier de Florence.Petit déjeuner trés bien.
