Corona D'Italia Hotel Florence

I chose this hotel because I wanted to be close to the Santa Maria Novella train station. The standard room that we booked was small, but that wasn't a problem. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, even if it nearly filled the room. The bathroom was tight, but that wasn't a problem either. It worked for us, and we didn't mind the plastic shower curtain. The hotel's breakfast, while not especially varied, was adequate and the coffee was good. Unfortunately, the walls at this hotel must be made of plywood, because we could hear everything from the neighboring room. The housekeeping staff, was another sorry story. On at least one occasion, they still hadn't made up our room by the time we came back mid-afternoon from a very hot and tiring day of walking around Florence. But that wasn't so much of a problem as their failure to pick up and return our laundry on time. But that wasn't so much of a problem as the fact the housekeeper flat out lied about the problem when I complained to the management. She claimed (to our faces, in front of the management) that she had talked to my wife and my wife had told her that we didn't want our laundry done. But this never happened. We told the manager that the housekeeper couldn't have talked to either of us, because we had left the hotel before she arrived on the morning that our laundry was supposed to be picked up from our room. The manager refused to believe us, repeating, ''But she says she spoke with your wife.'' Clearly, they don't believe that their customers are always right at the Corona D'Italia. Look elsewhere for a room in Firenze!

I've been to Florence before and I thought this looked like a pretty good hotel...I was wrong. My friend and I got there and although the staff was great, the room reaked of something gross and we were put next to rooms that were under construction. There were alot of other rooms,so I couldn't understand why they would put us in a room that was destined to wake us up at 7 am due to construction! The sinks wouldn't drain properly and again the smell of the room just made my stomach turn and I ended up getting sick after staying here. I would not recommend this place. I've seen three stars hotel much better than this place and the walk from the center of Florence to our hotel was not the most convenient. People who have never been to Florence before WOULD recommend this place, but I've stayed in other hotels and been there and done that and I would never again do it at this hotel.

Two twin blankets covered our king bed, and if you ran the shower fast, you stood in six inches of water in the tub. This place is just okay.

This is the third time I have traveled to Florence, and the third time for staying at Hotel Corona. It is very conveniently located in Florence, walking distance from the train station, and near all the museums. It's not flashy, but very comfortable and clean. The rooms have air conditioning, elevators, and sound proof windows, which are good for the noisy streets of Florence. The staff has always been friendly, and helpful, and actually remembers me from previous visits. The area around Hotel Corona is lively, with street markets, great restaurants, and beautiful historically signifant Churches.

When I first arrived, I had to ask for a room change as the first room they put me in had a bathroom that had such an awful smell I could not stay in it! The cleaning staff and receptionists are, for the most part, friendly and helpful, but it takes some nudging with the reception staff. The location of the hotel is the greatest thing about it. You can walk to the Duomo, Gallery Uffizi and train station. If I were able to pay more for a slightly better maintained facility, I would have. Basically, nothing in this hotel has been updated. They keep it clean and orderly, but it's very very old furnishings make it uncomfortable.

The hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk from the main railroad station. It is a great location right next to Florence's leather market and a short walk from all main tourist attractions. The hotel was clean and friendly and offered a nice breakfast buffet. Lots of student groups that were very noisy until late at night. Tiny elevators and long wait times if you wanted to use them when a group was getting ready for check-out. It was good value - I would go back there any time.

We went on several tours of Florence and enarby cities, all which the staff reccommended and were very helpful in planning our trips. The staff could not have been more hospitable. Rooms are little small and weird bathrooms, but overall a pleasureable stay. Quick walk to center of the city. And literally a 10 minute walk from the train station with suitcases.

The hotel was only a fewshort blocks from the train station. We arrived early our rooms were not ready but the staff held our bags without us asking so we could go out and explore. We did book two rooms for only one night, the rooms were very clean and nice size. Small refrigerator and safe in room. Only regrets it was a little noisey in the morning around 8am but i guess it was time to get up anyway. Upon checking out the staff held our bags till 9pm that night which worked out very well for us. The morning breakfast was excellent. I would stay again for sure.
