N4U Guest House

I stayed here four nights after reading the reviews. The bad; about 4 flights of stairs to walk up (no elevator), uncomfortable bed, no staff available for questions or issues with noisy guests. The good; the location and the woman who brings you breakfast in the morning is very nice and pleasant. It isn't a bad place, it has a some things that are good but it does not have any service but it is priced as if it does.

We felt locked in a cage. It is called a bed and breakfast but the breakfast cost 7.50 Euro more each. You have to check in before 6:00 because no mans the desk after that. It was just a room. Save your money and go to a Hostile.

When we got there around 8:00, there was no one there so we had to call the cell phone of the manager and it took him a half an hour to get there and let us in. But, we had dinner by the Duomo while waiting so it was all good. The hotel is in a really old building and you have to walk up a number of stairs. But, the room had air conditioning, it was really cool and stylish and a great deal for an unbelievable location. Our bathroom was down the hall but robes were provided and it was no problem.

Very nice, very clean, large room with a hand painted fresco style ceiling. Modern bath room but unfortunately is was down the hall. Each room gets it's own private bath but it not co located. Now the bad part. It's on the 4th floor and their is no lift. 78 steps to the top with your luggage. It was hard with out the luggage. Check-in is 2 PM. If you show up at anytime prior no one will be there to store your luggage until the manager shows up. Late check in must be arranged because after about 4:30 PM I could never find anyone that worked there. The Guest house is in a perfect location for walking to all the tourist sights and the train station.

Very clean and centrally located. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Overall, a very relaxing and fun place to stay. We did have our own private bathroom but it was down a public hallway. We didn't really mind but others might. It did not have any food service but there are so many in the area it wasn't a problem. Also, check-in closes at around 5 pm unless you call ahead and make arrangements.

Great, quirky place, but no lift was a real downer, especially for our wheelchair!

The is a great little privately run B&B in the historic center of florence, just a block south from the Duomo. You will find restaurants (try Gusto Leo, half a block south), gelaterias, Museums, and monuments within walking distance in every direction.

Overall, the hotel was a big disappointment, which was a shame as we were looking forward to our stay there. Essentially, it's more of an apartment than a guesthouse. You basically stay at someone's apartment that converted it into guesthouse. The rooms were painted with bright colors and decorated nicely, but there were no amenities whatsoever. So other than a central location, I am not sure how they justified the price. The hotel staff/manager was only there from 11-6 and after that you are on your own. One night, a neighbor had an extremely loud party that went until 4:00 am. When I shared this with the manager, he said "what can I do?" Apparently, the answer was nothing. I travel internationally all the time for work, so I am familiar with the wide range of hotel offerings in Europe. And, quite honestly, this one charges far too much for what they offer in return. In conclusion, it's a poor value. I wouldn't recommend it.

Typical European hotel room. My room had a bathroom (most in this location do not). Only real issue was street noise. Flourence has a lot of late night life and the bar near the hotel tends to spill out into the street well after 1am (no smoking indoors).

Outstanding location in the heart of Florence. I would only stay there one more time if and only if they would guarantee me a room with a bathroom inside. Also the hotel is not really reccomended for someone with a small child (lots and lots of stairs). The hotel needs some new furnitures. Consider that parking is around 35 USD per day around the hotel.
