Good location / Confort correct but no good value for money

  • Floribus Verified Customer
  • 13 Jan 2012
The location of the hotel is excellent. I have read many bad posts concerning the style and the atmosphere of the hotel, but, from my perspective, i thinks these negative comments are not deserved: the style is special but modern and trendy. Rooms are originally decorated, modern clean and quite large (for Rome standards). That said, the hotel is no five stars (as they claim): our window had view on the A/C engine of the hotel (extremely noisy), the amenties are of poor quality, the SPA/pool are barely clean. These are no real issues but this is not what you would expect from a five stars hotel, especially for the price they are charging for the room. Last but not least, the service is terrible. Here is the best exemple why: Since parking is impossible in Rome, you will certainly leave your car to the hotel concierge. It will cost you EUR 35. Neverthesless, this is not the worst part: I had to wait more than one hour from the moment I asked for my car until I can drive to the airport! Despite this major issue, the staff did not do anything, they charge me for the parking anyway, they did not apologize and, worst of all, did not give us any explanation. In couclusion, the hotel is fine, well-located, but overpricy for what you get (espcially in terms of service). If you can get a special offer: fine. Otherwise, be prepared to be desappointed

The original hotel we booked and paid for had an issue with plumbing so they booked us into a different hotel that was MUCH cheaper and in a terrible location by the rail terminal. Truth, from a knowledgable traveler

The hotel was completely acceptable, and my entire family liked it. But, don't expect it to be an "American" hotel. Rooms are on the small side with average furnishings. The hotel shares a building with some other apartments, hence, the second floor entry after a flight or two of stairs. We didn't expect that, though it was not a big deal. (There is a 2 person elevator if you need it). Expect to be held pretty close to the published check-in time with maybe a slight chance of getting in early. Time to walk to places like Piazza de Spagna (Spanish Steps) depending on your pace is 15-20 minutes, not 5. The closest metro station(local subway)is a 15 min walk, unless of course you want to power-walk a bit! If you're going to do Rome on foot, as many people do, you're in a very good locale. But if you need one, busses are a block or two away. "Beds" are okay; meaning average comfort. Don't expect thick, plush mattresses. There were some minor communication hurdles, but nothing that couldn't be worked out. Desk, cleaning and kitchen personnel were fine. The "breakfast" consisted of cereal, one type of bread, croissants (very good), some jellies, and one type of wrapped cheese; and drinks. Organized tour information was not as available as I had hoped, but directions were happily offered. Also, you had internet access for a reasonable fee.

Nice hotel

This hotel is very nice, and located in a central location to the Vatican. Walked to the Vatican every day, and on the way there were many places to shop and eat along the main street. There were also many street vendors selling everything you could think of for reasonable prices. The Metro was only a few blocks away. The hotel staff were very accommodating with finding places to go, tours, maps, etc. Make sure if you state how many people are in your room because you need to have a room with that many beds.

HOWEVER, WITH GROUPS OF TOUR THAT BOOKED THERE STAY AT THE HOTEL , IT BECAME A HERD OF CATTLE DURING BREAKFAST TIME. BLOCKING STEPS, MY HUSBAND FELL DOWN THE STEPS DUE TO THE LACK OF SUPERVISION. I DID NOT APPRECIATE PAYING FOR THE INTERNET SERVICE AT THE COST OF ROOMS.

Very nice place to stay in Rome. old but nice hotel. the staff was very helpful. the breakfast buffet was excellent! there aren't many amenities but who is going to stay in the hotel much while in Rome? the beds were small but pretty comfy. it would be nice if the hotel had more info for travelers. info about how the local buses/schedules would be very helpful. we also found a great grocery store on the corner of the street on the same side as the hotel entrance closer to the church. it is in the basement of the building on the corner. we didn't find it until the day before we left. info like that would be helpful to get from the hotel. overall a great stay and close enough to walk to everything.

Make sure you bring conditioner. The room has evereything else you need, very comfortable, exellent location - only blocks away from the subway which is easy to navigate. Within walking distance to a lot of the major sites - if not take the subway. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They helped out getting a taxi to and from the airport and gave us a map of the city. The free breakfast buffet was also worth it. I don't know about the other hotels but if you pick this one I don't think you will be disappointed.

We stayed here for two nights while sightseeing in Rome. A short walk to the Metro with access to all the sights. The apartments were not as nice as the rest of the Hotel, for example getting the lights to work were like trying to play mastermind and the shower wasn't great. Overall the staff were very friendly and spoke great english. Breakfast was continental and covered in the cost. I would definitely stay there again, but the walk to the metro in 40C was too much for the kids.

This hotel is really a great place to stay, albeit it's about 3/4 mile from the main attractions in Rome. The service was Ok, albeit the ice machines were broken the entire week we were there. Might not seem like a big deal but it almost forced you to buy their ridiculously expensive drinks from the mini-bar versus the street vendors. I wouldn't stay here again but overall we had a great room in a very elegant hotel in Rome. Rome itself is a wonderful city and I can't wait to come back as I love the Italian/Roman culture.

Description
Relais 6 is a refined and exclusive Hotel located in one of elegant area in Rome.An ideal combination for journeys to the Eternal City and business travel. Each room has been designed and equipped with all facilities at the highest levels of quality and comfort. This stylish little apartment block dating back to the late 1930s and nestling amid the greenery has been fully renovated into a charming hotel. The use of original materials, period furnishings, the renovation of the original flooring uncovered during the restoration work, the installation of a lift in the main stairwell, built in glass and iron in order to preserve the natural continuity of the marble typical of the period: all of this has helped to conserve the authentic nature of an architecture that typified the historical era that originally witnessed it. The large terrace, which offers stunning views as well as two sun rooms, one facing east and the other west, also hosts a heated area, covered in the summer, where guests can exercise in the gym. At the rear of the building is an area in which a little square has been restored back to its original appearance, with characteristic Roman stone paving, a 1930s-style service station and a fountain. In the middle of the square, in the shade of a century-old fig tree, guests can enjoy breakfast in summer, and receptions and events may also be organized in this splendid setting. Guests will receive a warm welcome the moment they step through the door, and will be able to relax by the cosy fire-place of the reception hall. The original kitchen, with its furnishings and equipment typical of the period, can be found in the cellar of the building, where Mediterranean cooking courses will be held, as well as tasting sessions during which guests will have the opportunity to sample wines and food products from the surrounding region. The building was a wartime hideaway before becoming the headquarters of the Allied Intelligence, and the passionate interest in WWII history - supported by the imprimatur of the British Crown - led the owners to create an exhibition area inside dedicated to "The Allied Forces in Italy" during the Second World War. Here visitors can admire a range of objects - some of them belonging to the family themselves - as well as the results of painstaking restoration work, and the aim of the exhibition is to illustrate a chapter in Europe's history which is still very much valid today. The reception and conference rooms and the reading rooms, the splendid furnishings that are the signal feature of both the common areas and the bedrooms make this hotel very much one of a kind: a superb Relais, a veritable home-from-home in the heart of the Eternal City.

Very small rooms, but quiet. Hotel is far from downtown, it takes at least 30 to 40mn, when you have buses, subway station is at 15mn by feet. Breakfast very ordinary, cheap products and everyday the same, table are as small as in a plane!!! and not enough for the hotel capacity, people have to wait for breakfast sometime 15mn to be placed.Anything you want in this hotel is not allowed by the direction (ex: have a drink in a glass in your room, only in plastic, put chocolate in your fridge is not permitted,.....). Choose it only for quiet, in low season.

A perfect place if St. Peter's Square and the tours are your target for visiting.

The staff are very courteous and helpful despite the language barrier. It is very near St. Peter's Square. The tour buses are right across the street and the office of the bus tour is less that 5-minute walk. The hike to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel is not that far and it is very easy to locate from the hotel. There are a lot of souvenir stores, restaurants, eatery, etc. near the hotel. The draw back is the money changer - the exchange rate is low compared to what I got from the US before I left. The internet connection was good and I was able to print my boarding pass from the hotel for my return trip. I will certainly recommend this hotel to my friends if they will plan to go to the Vatican.

the hotel is extremely beautiful and the workers are SUPER nice. It was a great hotel but be aware that the rooms are MUCH much smaller than what we are used to in the US. they are still nice just much smaller. The only real complaint I had was that the beds, when it says two twins or one single, it really means there are two twin beds pushed against each other for a single, not an actually bigger bed. I would still recommend this hotel and they do have a free shuttle service to the city center and a VERY nice helpful staff.

The room was very nice but the bed was VERY hard and the first few nights were difficult getting to sleep. The morning breakfast was the exact same menu every day. The only hot items were eggs and bacon that was not cooked well enough that most Americans would feel comfortable eating. Lots of breads and coffee though. The location near Termini station was convenient and kept travel times to a minimum.

The hotel is nice, clean and quiet modern. It is close to the main station termini, where it is the hub of the main transportation in rome. You can catch metro, bus or intercity train from this terminal. Hotel staff's are very helpfull when you need some information or direction to go somewhere, or how to get to specific tourist destination. We would certainly rcommend this hotel to friend or family who may come and visit Rome.

New, modern hotel near Termini

  • 29 Apr 2011
Best part was the location just 2-3 short blocks from Termini and the Metro and buses. At the end of the day after exploring Rome, we just looked for a bus that said Termini, the last stop for many routes. Rooms are modern, clean but on the small side. Breakfast was great with eggs, bacon, sausages, cold cereals, breads, sliced meats and cheese, coffee and juices.

We stayed at the Yes Hotel in Rome for 4 nights at the beginning of our trip and 1 night before flying back home. The hotel is only a block and a half from the Termini Rail Station and buses start right in front of the train station. The breakfast provided was the best we had on our trip. It included scrabbled eggs and meat as well as the usual cereals, yogurt, rolls etc. There is a computer available for guests at $5/24 hours or$10 for the entire stay. Being able to access email in the hotel 24 hours/day was convenient.

  • chengalvaroya Verified Customer

This hotel gets top marks for location. It's very close to the train stations (subway and long distance) and to the bus stops. The 'must-visit' sites are therefore within easy reach. The rooms are adequately furnished, neat and well maintained - sheets, towels are provided. These are changed once in 3 days or so (if you stay that long or longer). The staff are helpful with information, and friendly. On the downside - The breakfast provided is more in name than in spread - one croissant and a cup of beverage, at a neighbouring bistro. Not enough for the average sight-seer! There is no free wifi. Access (round the clock) to the internet is available only at a room next to reception, and a charge is collected(1 euro an hour on their computer, or 1 euro for 24 hrs on own laptop). I would give it 7 on a scale of 10.

This hotel is quite pretty and perfect for a weekend trip to Rome. However, location could be better but if you want to focus on the Vatican it is perfect. The rooms are small but clean and have AC. Compared to other hotels in Rome Hotel Orange is quite loud (depends on where your room is located). Unfortunately we didn't have any shelfs in our room (only hangers) and thus, couldn't unpack properly. Receptionists didn't have a clue about Rome and thus couldn't help us finding good restaurants or anything else. All in all a we had a pleasant stay and we couldn't ask for anything more for the money.

The staff were all very helpful with one hotel front desk receptionist (young man) extremely helpful and very kind. Most of the staff knew fairly good English and were glad to help whenever they could. The breakfast was good and saved a lot of money by eating there in the mornings. The location was perfect walking distance to most of the major sites in Rome, just a stones throw from the Colosseum and Forum. If you are willing to get some exercise it is even worth the walk to the Vatican, about an hour away. There is no airport shuttle as the reservations suggested, but that is minor as you can catch a bus, train or taxi as you prefer. An excellent week in Roma!

Set on one of the most well-known streets in the world, the Ambasciatori Palace Hotel is an elegant choice for those wishing to truly experience La Dolce Vita in Rome. This charming hotel is set on Via Veneto, the street which inspired Fellini's classic movie, Roman Holiday. It was built in the early 20th century for international diplomats from the Embassies nearby. Between 1993 and 2001 the building went under careful renovation. The result was the enhancement of the original, antique decorations, including stuccoes, arches, capitols and columns. The bright and spacious common areas at the Ambasciatori Palace offer a sophisticated atmosphere where you can relax after a day in Rome. All of the comfortable guest rooms and suites feature luxury materials and vintage furnishings. Enjoy a drink at the lounge bar accompanied by live music in the evening, or refined Italian cuisine at La Terrazza Restaurant. Look out onto Via Veneto as you dine, in the summer the terrace is opened to enjoy the mild Roman evenings. The hotel offers free breakfast to its guest.

10 minute walk to the vatican--About 15 minute walk to St Angelo's Castle--Great small restaurants all around the hotel area---room very clean---beds firm and comfortable---staff very helpful---hard wood floors in room made cleanliness easy. I wouldn't recommend if you are travelling with children cause there's no pool and the televison is in Italian. Breakfast was included and we took some of the sandwiches and used them for lunch. Overall great experience. I'd go back there again. It's not in the city center but walking distance or cheap train ride or bus ride away from all major attractions.
