Hotel Diocleziano commands a privileged central location in Rome yet it is absolutely quiet: at 300 meters from Termini station and 3 minutes from Piazza della Repubblica; just to get an idea about the location, from the hotel you can see the Terme di Diocleziano and the cloister of the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli.Among the 4 star hotels in Rome around the Termini station area, Hotel Diocleziano is truly privileged in that it is located away from the bustle of the center and still near some of the most beautiful monuments and museums of Rome, besides being at 100 meters from the bus stop, the tramway and subway that lead to all the most important places in the city (Saint Peter's, Piazza Navona, the Coliseum, etc.).

Area description
However, walking around Rome is truly a fascinating experience and you can enjoy the charming atmosphere, the lights, and the Ponentino, the famous fresh wind of Rome that blows in spring and summer and makes for very pleasant weather. That's the time to take a walk from the Hotel Diocleziano and along via Nazionale (at 4 minutes), that constitutes the famous shopping street. Don't forget to admire the majestic Terme di Diocleziano, the largest thermal center of the ancient world, as well as the cloister of Santa Maria degli Angeli, a work by Michelangelo (all this only 3 minutes away), and then get to Piazza Esedra with the magnificent Fountain of the Naiadi, (3 minutes). The Spanish Steps, are a magnificent spectacle and just a 15-minute walk, as is the Fountain of Trevi. A 20-minute stroll will get you to the most ancient part of Rome such as the one of the impresssive Imperial Fori and the Coloseum.

Great hotel

Our room was rated as an economy room, but it didn't look or feel like a economy room. Double bed, large bathroom, free Internet access, outdoor patio, free snacks in the room refrigerator - we had all we needed! The staff was friendly, helpful and spoke English. They helped print out our boarding passes and called to check on tour bus times. The hotel was spotless The location is central to all we wanted to see in the historic section of Rome. We walked everywhere to and from the hotel. Dlc

"Not expected surprises"

Hotel staff was very helpful at all times; room was small but comfortable. Bathroom shower extremely small, so it is not easy to shower. Distance to train terminal and subway were convenient. At the end they charged us 30 euros extra. They said it was a city tax, but I really had my serious doubts about it. I did pay in advance for overall services and this was a disappointing surprise. I would recomend it only for the staff and location.

Great location at a hotel that doesn't forget the little things

Great hotel with an awesome location close to the termini (7 minute walk) where you can catch the Metro and take the train to the airport. I thought that the room was larger than normal (by European standards) and nicely furnished. Also, the staff was very friendly and always willing to help (e.g. booked our reservation at the Borghese Gallery, restaurant recommendations). Finally, you can't not love the free drinks in the minibar and free internet! If we are returning to Rome, we will definitely stay here again!

Buy the Roma Pass over at the Termimi...it is a great deal with free entry into 2 attractions, free usage of public transit and you get to skip to the front of the line yielding great time savings.

Great Hotel to stay

Diocleziano... I can definitely recommend this hotel to anybody who can afford the price. This place is definitely worth the price you pay for the stay. First of all, the location is superb. It is located about 7-10 minutes by walk from Roma Termini (the train station of Rome) and another major Metro station which you could take to reach important sites of interest such as the Colosseum and the Vatican. I have experienced that when a hotel is located in such close proximity to a train station on a main street, there is often a lot of noise and your night's sleep could be compromised for the convenience of the location. However, this hotel is located in a secluded side street which offers enough quietness at night despite being so close to a major street. Safety is not at all an issue. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They provide information and help with transfer to the airport. I arrived from Florence by train and I could easily walk to the hotel from the train station with my travel bags as they had wheels. Rome was my last destination and I flew back from Rome. To transfer to the airport, I used the affordable taxi arranged by the hotel staff. If you don't have big bags to carry along, you could also take the air-train connection from Roma Termini station. The hotel provides complimentary internet, spa and gym although I never had the opportunity to use these facilities as I was busy enjoying Rome itself. The room was very cosy with a comfortable bath/toilet. The only shortcoming that I noticed was that hot water was not hot enough after 11 pm. I wanted to use the bath-tub before I went to sleep, but noticed that the water was just warm enough to wash hands or brush. Another huge plus is the breakfast that they provide. I had stayed in 2 other hotels (Venice and Florence) prior to my visit to Rome. The other hotels provided good breakfast too, but comparatively this was the best. This is very important because the major purpose of my visit was touring and sight-seeing. Having a good breakfast gave me enough time till late in the afternoon to concentrate the bulk of my sight-seeing in the daytime when attractions are open (many sights close 1-2 hours earlier in the winter months). I did not have to spend time looking for a place to have full course of meal. All I needed to do was to grab a quick bite on the go if I needed one during the day, and have a good dinner earlier in the evening. For a single person, this hotel could be on the pricier side, but if you travel as a family or couple, I can seriously recommend this hotel as you would be saving on time spent looking for a cab or public transport as well the money spent on them. If I visit Rome again, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Walk to the subway (line A) or train station (lines A and B) within a distance of 7-10 minutes from here. Piazza Republica is about 5 minutes from here and you could walk there in the evening to enjoy its dazzling brilliance.

Beautiful Hotel in Rome

The staff was great, friendly and accomodating. The location was perfect, near the Termini. The room was very updated, modern and clean, although the bed was hard (thinkiing typical for Italy). Overall a great experience -highly recommend!

A great hotel in downtown Rome

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights during our trip to Rome. This was one of the best hotels we've stayed at in a European capital. The room was spacious, with a large bathroom, and plenty of room for our suitcases. The hotel location is in a very convenient location for getting to and from the airport. Only a five-minute walk from the Termini train station (but on a quiet street), we were able to travel around Rome without a car. The staff was very nice and helpful. An excellent buffet breakfast was served every morning, with a large selection of foods. We would highly recommend it!

Great, quiet location, near Termini!

The staff were all very nice and helpful and available 24/7. The morning breakfast was diverse, of high quality, and a great start to each day. Quiet location, but 5 minutes walking distance to the central Termini in Rome. We stayed 10 nights and did not have a single problem. Can help set up tours of Rome if you need help. I wish we were still there!

Learn to get around Rome using public transportation. It is easy to use and the Termini is the hub for Trains, Busses, Taxis, and the local subway.

The hotel is an excellent base

The hotel is an excellent base for exploring Rome. Close to the Tremini station, it is very handy to metro and intercity train services as well as buses. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient in dealing with enquiries and requests.
