Great Value and Prime Location

I was in Rome for the marathon on March 18th and wanted to stay near the start/finish line (Coliseum), so I could easily walk to and from the race. Additionally, I wanted a hotel very near a metro stop. This hotel was perfect! Within a 5-minute walk, you are at the Coliseum. Within a minute, you are at the Cavour metro station (which is only one station away from the main station: Termini). A bus dropped us off at the Termini Station from the airport for only 4 euros. There is also an express train available for 20 euros, but we opted for the bus since we were in no hurry and wanted to enjoy some of the scenery. Only having to ride the metro, with all our luggage, for one stop was a nice treat... we could not ask for more. The hotel staff was exceptional: very helpful, pleasant, and they spoke English, which helped a great deal with my limited Italian. They were always eager to give tips on local restaurants, attractions, etc. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi and the staff was very helpful with printing/making copies of necessary documents. My boyfriend and I stayed there six nights, so they gave us one of the larger rooms available at no additional cost. They told me they wanted us to feel comfortable for such an extended stay (most people appeared to stay for about 2 nights and they headed off). We arrived at the hotel around 10:30 a.m., after a red eye from the States the night before, and we only had to wait 5 minutes before our room was ready. In many other instances, both abroad and in the U.S., rooms may not be ready until the afternoon. We were extremely pleased to be able to get in quickly. The free continental breakfast was sufficient and it sure did help save us some money. We stuck with the pastries, cereal, and fruit and certainly enjoyed the coffee/latte/etc. variety. There is a meat variety available, but we did not try it. The eating area was well staffed and the food was fresh. There is a rooftop area that is very enjoyable in the morning as the sun shone on the city. At sunset and night, the city was illuminated beautifully.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

DEFINITELY do a bike tour! There's a bike shop just up the road (about a 10-minute walk). Book online before you go; the hotel can help you with the directions to get there. The tour lasts 4 hours, takes you through the fabulous side streets, and highlights all the Roman treasures.
