Perfect Rome
The hotel is conveniently located just a few hundred metres from the Spanish steps. A good value hotel and helpful staff. The hotel bar was only open at breakfast and there was not a restaurant for other meals or drinks when we visited at Easter. Local restaurants were good quality and reasonable and only 50 metres away. Evening alcohol at some were too much ! The Metro is 200 metres away, 2 stops to the main-line station and 4 to the Vatican. All public transport very cheap. All other tourist locations are but a walk away from the hotel too.

good value for the money
Exellent location: very close to mostl tourist attractions, 5 min away from the subway, 2 subway stops from Termini. Our room was large, quiet, beds were comfortable. The shower head was broken and never fixed in 3 days, the electrical kettle was not working ( we were given another one upon our request), towels were mixing once, bur were provided quickly, mini bar/refrigerator was not working. Quaility of food offered at breakfast is very poor, but one can get full. Overall I recomend the place for staying for those who do not pay much attentio to detaild, as the location is really good.

Great Weekend Get Away
This hotel was a fantastic stay for the weekend. It is in a central location, easy to walk or metro everywhere. The staff was superb and the breakfast and room cleanliness were top notch. I will come back to Rome and stay only here.

Good hotel, good location, good English
Got to the door. Relatively old-fashioned & small. Walked up to clerk to check in. Very friendly & spoke very good English. (Other clerks encountered there were the same; very good.) Room was larger than typical "old European hotel room". Bed was just fine. Small TV with only Italian-speaking stations. Bathroom was decent-sized & modern. Had room for both our toiletries cases. IMPORTANT: You control your own AC. On this trip at numerous other "fancy" hotels, management turns the AC off because "it's not the hot season yet". We were uncomfortably hot in their rooms. This 1 was perfect. Located in good sightseeing, eating & shopping area of Rome. A 4 minute walk to subway station. Near a bus route.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Right near the Metro station near the Sistina Hotel is a tobacchi shop that sold Rome Pass for 25 euros. Great deal. For 3 days unlimited Metro, bus & trolly transportation. Plus access to 2 museums.

Return to ideally located European hotel
This was our fourth or fifth stay at Hotel Sistina but our first in several years. Location is excellent: turn right to the top of the Spanish Steps; turn left and choose a backstreet short cut to Via Veneto or stroll past Piazza Barberini to VV. The location is well suited for retuning to the room to rest or use the WC. They have upgraded their (still small) elevator. Rooms are good size and bathroom is larger than most. One complaint: only English TV channel is CNN that I don't watch in the States. They would do much better with Sky News or BBC. Their inclusive breakfast is above average with an attractive and efficient woman overseeing the breakfast experience. No other meals are served but bars and restaurants are plentiful nearby. Our reservation was confirmed immediately upon arrival. Check in took about one minute after surrendering passports. The concierge: made our dinner reservation at Giarrosto Toscano; recommended and provided a Mercedes sedan and driver to FCO airport for 46 Euro total.Overall, our stay was as enjoyable and pleasant as in years past. [...] We probably won't return to Rome for awhile but Sistina will still be our first choice when we do.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
Giarrosto Toscana is an excellent restaurant on side street at the top of Via Veneto (right side) just inside old wall. Spaghetti alla carbonara and veal chop are excellent as are side dishes of aparagus, artichoke (in season), spinach, etc. Tiramasu and coffee complete the meal.

Great location!
Small hotel in a great location, very close to Spanish Steps and great shopping! Staff was super friendly and accomodating. It is on a busy street so it was a bit noisy with the windows open - but pretty quiet with them closed. And it was a bit too warm to close them. We visited in the Spring. We kept them open all day while we were out so it wasn't too bad at night with them closed. AC wasn't turned on yet, hopefully that would resolve the problem in the summer. Room was a bit small and the beds a bit uncomfortable, but you can't beat the location.

what we thought
We went to Rome on vacation early September and stayed at the Hotel Sistina. Bad points: porter service was not offered at check-in to help with the bags, small rooms, run-down appearance, rooftop terrace w/o umbrellas. Good points: good location, airconditioned rooms, nice bathroom, good breakfast, rooftop terrace. Helpful staff- but you have to ask. We would categorize this as a no frills, lower budget hotel based on city location and rate it at a 2 star level, definitely not a 4 star. Maybe we're a little unrealistic about what to expect for the money but we did expect more. Recommended with the caveat that you not expect too much.
