Description
Domina Home Giudecca, situated on the island of the same name, was made famous over the years by the local nobility and aristocracy who transformed it into a haunt and refuge for intellectuals and artists. Hospitable and silent rooms, inviting with their unmistakable style and impeccable service: experiencing Venice at Domina Home Giudecca really means stepping back into the past to be welcomed with all the care and pampering that elsewhere have long been sacrificed on the altar of mass tourism. Venice is crowded and packed with tourists, wrote a couple of British travellers who stayed here. If you really long for a romantic Venetian holiday, Domina Home is the ideal place. It feels like home. That's right: it is a home in Venice. A dream but also a reality that can be achieved today. The hotel offers free breakfast to its guest.

Its name derives from the Italian for "hard ridge", due to its comparatively more stable and less clayey land in comparison with the other areas of the town. It includes the Zattere and Chiesa della Salute area, which has always been regarded as one of the most exclusive districts of Venice, rich of major modern residential architectural buildings.Today, Dorsoduro is known as the contemporary art neighbourhood, due to the presence of the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, the Francois Pinault Collection located in Punta della Dogana and the dynamic museum dedicated to Emilio Vedova, hosted in the Magazzini del Sale.

Stunning hotel

  • Nick and Kate
  • 22 Mar 2011
My wife and I were blown away by the beauty of the hotel, stunningly appointed, high quality everything with everything you could wish for, and more besides. The service was impecabble throughout, literally nothing I could criticise, perfect. Location is ideal, close to the water bus stop of ca rezonica and only a 5 minute walk to academia. From this location you can access everything Venice has to offer but still be away from the crowds of St Marks Square, and enjoy the relaxed chic vibe that exists around academia. We loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Lovely stay - Stylish, friendly. Elegant design room (small as is common in Europe) but nice. Fantastic location far enough away from San Marco to not be over touristy, but easy waking distance, plus right next to vaprretto stop. My self, husband and 7 year old stayed for 3 nights Xmas 2010. Enjoyed the luxury and romance of the roof top spa.

The Charming House was a highlight for us in Venice. It's like a mini W Hotel in the best area of Venice. The room (Jr. Suite) was amazing and the neighborhood was perfect for us since we wanted to be far away from the masses in San Marco Square and close to the Peggy Guggenheim museum (another highlight). The staff was very friendly the breakfast options were perfect. If I had one wish I would have a hands free shower (I'm not a bath or hand held shower person). A tad pricey for us, but we knew it was high seaons and we took a chance and I cannot recommend this place enough.

The hotel is 15 minute walk from the train station and 15 minutes from the Accademia. It is a great location as you can walk even to Rialto, S. Marco and other great spots from here (if you love walking of course!). Staff was corteous and nice (loved Giorgia). They were very willing to give information and help. Breakfast was nice and with a great view of the S.Sebastiano Church. The room (on the ground floor) is nice and spacious.

Enjoyed my stay

  • Physician
  • 13 Nov 2011
My experience in Hotel Tiziano was a positive one. The hotel is located in a quiet residential neighborhood of Venice. As much as this could be of a benefit, this is also the ONLY drawback of this hotel. As it is located fairly in the interior of one of the six districts of Venice, getting there on foot could be a hassle if you don't have a comprehensive map of Venice. If you don't mind spending, you could take Venice's water-taxi and easily get there from Venice's train or bus station. If you travel from the airport by the Ali-Laguna boat, you need to get off at the stop called "Zattere." From there it is about 10-15 minutes by walk, provided you don't get lost in the smaller side-streets. These side-streets could be tricky for first-timers as you could either be going round and round without making any progress or reach a dead-end and may need to walk all the way back or you could be walking in a totally different direction. Barring this shortcoming, this is truly a great hotel to stay. The lobby itself suggests that it is a cosy place to stay. The room was very comfortable and clean. The bath/toilet was fairly spacious. The small drawback of the bathtub is its half-door (a door that extends from one end of the wall to half the length of the tub) causing water to spill out of the tub when you shower. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They were nice enough to make free print-outs of some reservations that I had made after I reached Venice. I know many places in Europe where they charge a minimal fee for such services. Internet was free and came in handy to make museum reservations online. Their breakfast is awesome. This came in handy as I was mostly traveling seeing places. After a good breakfast, I could postpone my meal until early in the evening concentrating more on sight-seeing and worrying little about where or when I would eat next. If I needed, I could grab a quick bite and go on. However, eating in Venice was not at all an issue as there are plenty of places with a wide range of prices! Overall, this was a pleasant and memorable stay, worth the price I paid for, but for the tedious walk to the hotel from the pier (upon arrival) and from the hotel to the train station (when I departed) carrying my bags across the numerous bridges of Venice (bridges connect to sides of a district as Venice is built on water).

We booked late for a one night

  • lisa
  • 4 Oct 2010
We booked late for a one night weekend stay and got the last room. The room was small but good and faced the internal garden on the first floor. The location suited us, a ten minute walk from Santa Lucia train station on a peaceful canal with a gondola waiting outside. There were plenty of places to eat and shop on the street and nearby. Piazza Sn Marco was a 40 minute walk but it was good to come back to the calm of the San Croce area for dinner. The hotel has several spacious lounge areas for relaxation. The room was clean, in good condition with a modern bathroom and quiet. The continental breakfast included cold cuts. The manager and staff were helpful with information and storage of luggage before check in and after checkout. The latter was important as it meant we could extend our last day before catching the train. Negatives- the internet is expensive. In summary, this hotel is good value for Venice and we would happily recommend to friends and stay again

Great Honeymoon Spot

  • Tyebird
  • 2 Nov 2011
We got a room at the Hilton Molino for the last night of our Honeymoon after not being so happy with the hotel we had first booked. The staff was so accommodating and the place was beautiful. We didn't book this Hotel in the first place because we were concerned about the location. Man were we off. The location was great! The water shuttle ran every 20 min and was always on-time. It was an enjoyable 10min boat ride. We could enjoy the whole water ride experience without having to dish out lot's of Euros. The shuttle will drop you off at 1 of 2 locations, one being the crowded St. Marco's Square. It also ran as late as 1:30 am so we never had to rush through dinner just to get back to our room. When we did finally get back to our room, it was incredible! They upgraded us so our room overlooked the water and it was just a beautiful, quality room. Clearly a new hotel and the rooms were the nicest one's we stayed in all of our Honeymoon. If your worried about being a small distance from the center of Venice, don't be. The shuttle is great and it's actually nice to get away from the crazy tourist areas and relax in a top quality room when it's time to lay down. Rooftop pool looked amazing but was closed because we were there too late in the season. The included buffet was amazing as well. You won't be disappointed if you stay here. Trust us.

checked in and was asked if we were hilton honers. said we were but did not have our number. the clerk said she would look it up but never did. got to our room.(we booked two rooms w/ connecting door). the room was on the first floor, in a really dark area, windows facing a brick wall. the intior looked nothing like the pictures on there web sight. i called down to ask for a change and had to talk to two different people in order to have them take a look for room availablity. i felt like they were interuped and were doing us a favor. these next rooms were better, still not like the pictures. no wash cloths or hand towels in our bathroom. the bed was ok. the pool was small but beautiful. great view. water taxi was on time and felt like it was a good location for us. breakfast was really nice, dinner very expensive. there are other restraunts near by in walking distants. staff was not very friendly the whole time.

Petit hotel sympathique et calme

  • Anonymous
  • 24 Aug 2009

Really small room.

My wife and I spent 1 night here during a multi-city vacation through Italy. We arrived into the Venice airport and took the bus to the city, which only took about 15 minutes. We had directions, from the Hotel website, which were from the bus drop off site to the hotel. Unfortunatly, without a map to help us stay on course, we quickly got lost. Once we bought a map we were able to find our way. The hotel was quiet and the staff was friendly. Our room was about the size of a postage stamp. There was just enough room to walk around the bed. The bathroom was also tiny, but clean and functional. There is a Gondola 'stand' just outside the hotel. This is a great spot to grab a ride, as long as you are looking to stay on the smaller canals (which I would recommend). The Gondolier was very friendly and didn't try to charge us too much. There is also a very good bakery just a block down the street. Excellent panini. The hotel is close to the Santa Lucia train station, but not particuarly close to St. Marc's Square.

Good experience

We stayed 2 days and 2 nights in Venice and loved every minute of it. The walk from the train station to the hotel is a short one as you only have to cross one bridge to get there, but look at a map first so you don't have to cross to many bridges. The staff was very kind and inviting to our lack of the Italian language. The rooms were comfortable and well air conditioned. Everything was smooth except for these little ant looking bugs. They kept coming in from under a wall next to the bed. One of us ended up with 2 bites on our stomach and are still there a week after the stay, but nothing serious. That was worth a 2 star decrease for us though. Another positive was being away from the noisiness of the Grand Canal. Very relaxing and convenient place to stay.

Description
Small run family business in a charming location. CQ 03/10 Typical Venetian building in keeping with the surroundings. The hotel is located just few minutes from San Mark's Square in a quiet area close to the famous Madonna della Salute Basilica, and the Peggy Guggenheim collection Museum. Water buses are located very close to the hotel, allowing to reach Saint Mark's Square in just a few minutes. From Marco Polo Airport: Take a schuttle public boat 'ALILAGUNA' and get off at ZATTERE. The exit is straight on Rio Terra Antonio Foscarini , walk for 100 metres then turn right on Calle Nuova Santa Agnese, walk straight until you find a small bridge with Campo San Vio; cross the bridge, straight and take Calle della Chiesa, straight for 50 metres until you find a small bridge in your right with Restaurant Ai Gondolieri; cross the bridge, immediately right on Calle delle Mende at door number 531 there is the hotel. This is mostly a beautiful residential area, without the noise and the crowd that it can be experienced in the area around San Mark's Square, and the hotel is still so close to it.

Wonderful hotel, staff, and location.

  • Violet

This is not a luxury hotel, like the Gritti Palace, but a simple, clean, comfortable, and very friendly hotel in a real Venetian neighbourhood, yet extremely convenient for the Accademia, Salute, traghetto to San Marco, and at least three vaporetto stops. We've travelled to Venice many times and we've even stayed at the Gritti, but we always end up coming back to Hotel American because we prefer it. The location can't be beat, very quiet, away from the terrible crowds around San Marco, with wonderful cafes and restaurants on the Zattere canal, and the hotel itself is on a small canal so you can take a water taxi to and from the airport right to the door. The staff are always very friendly and helpful, but never obtrusive. We discovered three of four new luxury hotels while we were wandering around Venice this trip (Boscolo in Cannaregio, the Centurion near the Salute, the Santa Marina in Castello), but however we looked at it, Hotel American always seemed a better choice. We've been coming here for 15 years, and will be coming back again in October or November.

Campiello Fenice 1936, Venice, 30124

Description
The Hotel La Fenice et des Artistes, close to the well-known "Teatro La Fenice", has been for more than a century the preferred hotel of artists and people looking for the typical atmosphere characterizing the "hotels de charme". The extremely bright entrance is in the form of a triangle connecting the original building on the left with the newly-built wing on the right. All guest rooms are different from one another, each with its own specific charm, but all in a typical Venetian style. They all have private bathroom, with either a tub or a shower, hairdryer, direct dial phone line, Sat TV and safe. The restaurant "La Taverna", which Gabriele D'Annunzio first called after this name, is one of the most elegant City’s restaurants and is part of the hotel building. This allows our guests to take advantage of the restaurant and benefit from special prices. The position of the Hotel La Fenice et des Artistes is extremely privileged: it is a real house in the middle of the city which is nevertheless located away from mass tourist circuits; it represents a unique chance for a pleasant and relaxing stay. Our guests can also take advantage of the courtyard garden and our beautiful common halls to relax. Our staff is available 24 hours a day to meet all your needs.

Description
Dear guests, Andrea and Lucio warmly welcome you to Palazzo Guardi, magnificent Venetian palace that dates back to the 15th century. It has been completely restored and turned into 16 highly comfortable, light and airy rooms of superior standard, all furnished in typical Venetian style. This palace takes its name form the famous artist Francesco Guardi, known above all for his landscape paintings which are considered on a par with those of other illustrious Venetian artists such as Canaletto and Tiepolo. His large paintings were inspired by the scenes of the antique Venetian Republic and in old Venetian tales told the building is often mentioned. The artist was inspired for his works by the magnificent scenes that could be admired directly from this and historic residence. Palazzo Guardi is divided into 2 structures which offer our Guests maximum convenience. One building has a magnificent original central hall , with a breathtaking view over the canal and the nearby *Squero-shipyard-di San Trovaso*. Here dating back to the antique Venetian republic and up until present days, the original Venetian gondolas are constructed; those boats which have made Venice famous throughout the world. The other building has been turned into the breakfast hall which is adorned with the authentic 15th century wooden beams and decorations. This area can also be used for conferences and in summer the beautiful private courtyard provides a perfect setting for breakfast *al fresco*. The buffet breakfast can therefore be taken in the elegant breakfast area, or, if Guest prefers, it can be delivered to the room where one can enjoy, in the comfort of one s room, the magic atmosphere of Venice. We also offer , in the central hall, a private corner where our clients are able to us a small p. c. for personal correspondence and internet. All our staff have many years of qualified experience in the hotel business. They are multilingual, speaking English, French, German...

Description
Charming hotel, run by the same family that converted its own home into hotel at the beginning of the 20th century. Due to the delicacy and preciousness of the furnishings this hotel is suitable for guests who appreciate history and antiques. This hotel is definitely of a superior standard. CQ 05/08 Orange painted typical Venetian building with green shutters at the windows. The hotel overlooks the Giudecca Canal and on the right side there is another romantic, minor canal. This hotel enjoys a unique sunny location, on the Zattere side, overlooking the Giudecca Island and the large Giudecca Canal. San Marco is only 1 stop away by boat or a pleasant 15-minute walk through the Calli of Venice. Close by there is the Academia of Arts and the Guggenheim Collection Museum. The area is quiet and trendy with many amenities and typical shops which are influenced by the many artists that go around that area.
