One critical detail
[...]the hotel neglected one critical fact: which stop to disembark from the water bus. The hotel says it's on their web site. The address is San Marco but you do not get off at either of the San Marco stops; you get off at Guglio. We spent 2 hours trying to find the hotel. With 5 bags and 2 canals to cross, this was a disaster! After asking 5 people, we finally found a hotel that knew where AD Place Venice was. The AD staff however was wonderful. The room was claustrophobic but we only slept there so not a problem. No place for toiletries in the bathroom (also true at Rome hotel).

We were advised to say outside of Venice and commute in. We chose not to but hindsight tells me that would have been the better way to go. You still wind up buying the 2 day pass for the water bus whether you stay in Venice or not and that's all you need to get around.

Very Good
My husband and I went to Venice for a romantic trip. The hotel has a very good localization and is very near to Piazza San Marc. This allowed us to make almost everything by foot. The stafs were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fair enough and you can have coffee and snack 24/7.The room was very clean and organized. The only thing I didn't like was having the room in a 2nd floor without an elevator, but it wasn't a big deal.

Fun and Funky
I picked the hotel because of its location, funky decor. great breakfast. The AD Place is right near the San Marcos Piazza and on the route taken by the gondoliers. While some may not like it, we enjoyed getting serenaded every evening as the boats turned the corner on the narrow canal flowing past the hotel. The decor was what I expected from having visited their website, but harder to live with than I expected. I did enjoy the complimentary chocolates and red rose with the turndown service. Also appreciated the upgraded to a junior suite. The TV was a bit of a drawback because it was placed on the ceiling. I am ok with weird, but the placement was just plain uncomfortable.

The hotel provides a free taxi to the island of Murano. The ride was a lot of fun (kinda reminiscent of the Italian Job) but be prepared for what you get at the other end. My impression is the ride is paid for by the glass factory where you are dropped off and where you are encouraged to buy pricey glass works of art. The shop was great; I just was not expecting the pressure tactics.

Smallest room we have ever stayed in
We booked an Economy Double room. We expected it to be very nice, we paid over $350 per night. We were shocked when we saw the room. The bed was against the side wall. There was barely enough room on the other side of it to walk past it. There was no where to put the suitcase, other than in the hall between the door and bathroom, where it became an obstacle. Everything else about this hotel and room was great. The service, the cleanliness, the staff, the breakfast. I would recommend the hotel but only if you pay more for a superior/deluxe room or suite.

AD Place Hotel, Venice stay
We have been to Venice numerous times and have stayed at different hotels on all different occasions. AD Place was peaceful, beautiful, personal and the location was just perfect. But the most memorable part of our stay was the amazing staff especially [...]. This is makes AD Place Hotel different from all the other hotels we have stayed at. We will definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend it friends and family.

We loved this small hotel. The hotel manager, Alexander, was wonderful. We were met and welcomed. The location was great, easy to walk to the square and shopping areas. Breakfast is availabe in the morning and coffee and espresso all day long! We asked for places to eat that locals frequent and we had great food! We were given champaign our last night along with a beautiful tray of food! The service was some of the best we have had. We were traveling with our 2 duaghters who also loved this hotel and the decor!

AD Place Hotel Venice - Great Spot
Great Venice hotel for the money. The location, like just about everything in Venice, is a little hard to find. BUT, once you find it, it is a cool hidden gem - we literally stumbled upon it (Venice maps are challenging). Great decor and breakfast, and a very accomodating staff. The actual room was very nice but tiny. However, the bathroom was huge by Euro standards and it had a nice little hallway for me to do some late night/early morning work without disturbing my partner (+ free WiFi). The AC wasn't great, but I was there in Oct. - so we were able to sleep with the windows open for a nice breeze. The design is FANTASTIC - so chic, so Euro, so Venice. I would definitely return to Venice and stay at this location (near San Marco square).

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
Don't kill your feet; at least spend 2-3 days in Venice to experience the wonderful city. Plus, the city is a different, lower-key place at night once the day-trippers and cruise peeps leave Venice.
