A tax has been imposed by the city for stays beginning 1 October 2012, and will be collected directly at the property. The tax ranges from EUR 1 to EUR 5 per person, per night. Comfortable but distance to the centre is a drawback
This hotel doesn't look quite so smart "in the flesh" as it does on the pictures but everything is clean and comfortable, breakfast is excellent with a big choice and the staff are friendly and generally helpful. The big disadvantage is the location, which is quite pleasant and quiet but the additional long walk is very unwelcome after what is typically a very tiring day in a crowded city. Worth getting an ACTV pass just for the "commute" as the Sant'Elena stop is very close by.

Venice
very clean, quiet and nice but far away the Plaza San Marcos (located in a residencial place). If you need a very quiet and resting place you must take this hotel

Good Service
The staff was over all great! Very polite and helpful. The waiting staff in the restaurant was great as well! Great food, very fresh and tasty. Our room was good. The walls and ceiling looked like they needed a paint job. The ceiling had some water stains and walls were scratched. The thermostat wasn't too great either. Our room was very warm even when we had the air on. Having the window open was much cooler. The location was a little out of the way but it's only a pleasant 20 - 30 minute walk to San Marco. It's away from all the touristy areas, so you definitely won't be bothered by any unnecessary noise when you're trying to sleep.

Above average isolated hotel in the area
The hotel is nice on an isolated region in Venice which is away from tourist traps. On a bad note, that the hotel is isolated and there isn't much of a selection around the area. Secondly, the staff doesn't make useful suggestions on where to eat or visit around the area.

surprisingly good
The hotel was very clean, despite being far from the center of the city, was near a transit station, very comfortable rooms, the restaurant very good and clean, highly recommended for future trips

One of the best hotels we stayed
One of the best hotels we stayed on our Europe trip. A very modern and clean hotel with very helpful and friendly reception staff. Good facilities including free access to computers and internet. The breakfast was great too. Lovely and quiet location, Walking distance to St Marks square in Venice.

Superb hotel, friendly staff
I was there for a conference, but had stayed at the Sant' Elena a few years back and loved its quiet atmosphere near Giardini and convenience to the vaporetto. This time I wrote ahead in Italian that I'd be arriving at 10 and asked if I could get in (normal time is 3pm). When I arrived the room was not only ready but they referred to it as the 'camera matrimoniale'. It was immaculate and perfect as were the sumptuous breakfasts. I also ate two nights at the restaurant and it was great.

Long walk from hotel
It's a good distance walking from Sant' Elena to San Marco, but just hop on the vaporetto either to San Marco or the glass island of Murano.

Hotel for Carnevale
The hotel was nice but very expensive for Carnevale. We arrived late and there were no restaurants close by and no food at the hotel. It was a 20-30 minute walk to Piazza San Marco.
