- Area description
- Hotel Rialto is in a unique and enviable position overlooking the Grand Canal, just across from Rialto Bridge, one of the most beautiful and suggestive spots of the city. Hotel Rialto takes its name from Rialto (high river), the area of Venice slightly more elevated compared to the other ones, which has always been the commercial heart of Venice. It is only a 5-minute walk from the hotel to wonderful Saint Mark's Square with a stroll along the Mercerie, the shopping streets where charming artisan shops (Murano glass, Burano embroidery, etc.) alternate with trendy stores of renowned international houses such as Gucci, Prada, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, etc

Rialto Hotel Venice
Pleasant helpful staff, however displayed little knowledge when asked about ammenities e.g. hairdressers, pharmacy etc. Also despite the room brochure stating the hotel could book tickets to the limited theatre productions that were on in Venice; when asked reception were unable to do so. In addition despite Venice shutting down early each evening as it was December 2012 the hotel only had 2 english speak tv channels. CNN and BBC World News. We ended up watching the Grinch and various christmas movies in french and italian.

Lovely view onto the water, a little noisy at times from the street, but location perfect. Breakfast good and clean, although bathroom could have been a little more modern.

Just a great location
If you want to be literally on top of the Rialto Bridge and have a few steps access to the water bus (Vaporetto) then this is the ticket. Otherwise, your room can be up 4-5 long steep flights of stairs, there is no wifi or internet in the rooms, just wifi in lobby, and I needed an our or two extra check out time and for the first time in forever, was refused flat out.

Nice Location!
The location is the best! The staff very nice! The room is more small that you see in the pictures. In the front of the hotel, you can take a trip to "the gondolas". In some areas, the water smells bad.

Location, location, location
This hotel is located so central that it does not get any better. Highlights are all in walking distance. The hotel room was small but offered everything we needed. The breakfast was more than sufficient. The Staff was formal.

Italy with newborn
comfortable bed, excellent view
Everything next to Rialto bridge is overpriced but it was really nice being right on the grand canal. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants right there because we heard that the food wasn't good and the Italians were actually embarrassed by it-- and way overpriced. We wandered our way into Venice just a couple streets back to get excellent food. Staff was very helpful, you could purchase internet time. Good breakfast buffet and a couple outdoor tables. Very comfortable room with safe, mini bar, window looking right out on Grand Canal and boat stop. There are no alarm clocks or clocks in ANY hotel room in Italy, they don't cut the pizza, all of the beds are actually two twin beds pressed together (crack in the middle), and you shouldn't bring anything you can't pick up and carry in Venice since it's not handicap accessible. We brought a hiking backpack which was invaluable and whenever we saw people lugging their suitcases up and down the many stairs throughout Venice, we were so relieved that everything we needed was on our backs! I highly recommend the Rick Steve's ITALY book. Rialto Hotel was in a perfect homebase location, buzzing with activity.

Pack lightly - hotels can lead you to the closest Lavandere (laundromat), and carry all of your luggage in a backpack. Especially in Venice since it is all stairs/bridges with stairs and not at all conducive to dragging around luggage.
