In harmony with island architecture, the new, all-inclusive Riu Montego Bay sits on a beautiful stretch of beach, surrounded by nearly 10 acres of lush gardens. Less than three miles from downtown Montego Bay, 1.7 miles from the international airport and conveniently located near a shopping center, this island oasis offers a wide variety of activities and deluxe accommodations in a serene setting.
Enjoy sports such as windsurfing, sailing, and kayaking in the turquoise waters of Montego Bay, or relax on the beach in a sun lounger.
There are many dining options available, in addition to a 24-hour snack and beverage service. Wireless Internet in the Lobby area for free.
With an on-site spa and golfing nearby, Riu Montego Bay is the ideal vacation destination for families, couples or singles.
Amenities include restaurants, fitness center, sauna, meeting facilities, theatre, tennis courts, 2 outdoor swimming pools with integrated Jacuzzi, one outdoor children's swimming pool, miniclub and activities program for children from 4 - 12, daily activities for adults( 7 days a week), nightly entertainment including live music and Riu Theme Shows( 7 days a week) and a discotheque (entrance and drinks included) open 7 days a week. All meals, drinks, tips and taxes are included. Chargeable amenities are spa services: massages and beauty treatments, beauty salon, conference room rental, internet access, laundary service, babysitting service available upon request, medical staff on call 24 hours, gift shop, sports and activities, scuba diving school, nearby horseback riding.
Minimum Age: At least one person of 21 years old in every room.
The Hotel reserves the right of admission and therefore we may not allow any room in which all guests are younger than 21 years. This situation can have serious consequences and should be avoided at any cost.

Maximum Occupancy: In all RIU hotels and room categories (unless specified otherwise) the maximum occupancies are 4 bodies in room, either 3 Adults + 1 Child OR 2 Adults + 2 Children. Four adults are NOT permitted. All bodies in room will fit on existing bedding, any special request remains upon availability. Children & and third adult will sleep in existing bedding.
Discounts: Children under 2 years stay & eat free. Their age must be specified in the Booking.
Honeymooners: Will receive a surprise gift in their room upon arrival. Certificate of Marriage will be required upon arrival.
Special requests: Any special request such a extra beds, rollaways, cribs, room next door, remains upon availability of the hotel . Guests will be informed at check in.
Guests have 90 min/day free Wi-Fi-connection in the lobby, we also have Wi-Fi throughout the whole hotel, at a charge.

Good value, but lackluster in some areas
Can't beat the value with Riu Jamaica. The hotel rooms were great; the pool and bars were clean and stocked; close to the airport and downtown. However, compared to the Riu in Guancaste Costa Rica (first and only Riu experience for most of our group), this hotel lacked a lot in a few specific areas. The food quality was not the greatest; the staff was ordinary and lacked the "extra-mile" that we saw in Costa Rica; and the tour company selected by the hotel was completely awful.

Avoid the JTL company in the lobby. We booked all of our excursions through them on the first day and were extremely disappointed with all of them. One example was the trip to Negril. They took us to Margaritaville in Negril (not as good as the one in Montego Bay) for 3 hours. Then went to a non-authenticate mall to shop for an hour. Finally they took us to Rick's Cafe (which is supposed to be the main attraction). We spent only an hour there. We had to rush to eat our meal and did not have any time at all to try the cliff jumps. Very poor time allocation by the tour company.

Nice Resort
Food was good, drinks were great and plentiful. Very fun resort. The only thing I didn't like was that our room had a musty smell to it, but we just ignored it. Could smell it on our clothes when we returned home.

I stayed at the Riu by accident, our flight got cancelled and they could not find another flight out we were stuck there for four days.. Thank Spirit.. The pools were great, the entertainment great, the Drinks awesome. The Tv Great (when it rained) But saw a roach in my room, at first I chalked it up to an isolated incident. when I went to my friends room she had one dead in the closet and one crawling all over the glasses at the little bar area. Then another young lady stuck with us said she woke to one crawling on her. The food was awful..expected more I guess.. It seemed they were serving the lunch from the day before for dinner the next night .. the grounds were big like needed a golf cart big. and the worse part was there was nothing around it I would not stay here again. Oh yeah I didn't go in the ocean but my friend who loves to go in te ocean said after going in about 6 to 8 feet the water had a lot of sea weed and was slimmy, in the common area I did get attacked by sand fleas, mosquitoes and who know what else?It is the only place in the resort to get wifi which was needed to let folks know why I hadn't come home four days prior.

RIU Montego Bay - Can't wait to return
Had a great visit. First time in Jamaica and we will return again soon. Clean room, great food, large pool, etc... would have liked to see more live music, but other than that - we can't wait to return.

In Hotel
Hire a cab all day for $160 and let him take you to all of the sights. We did this and split cost among 4 people. He took us to all of the sights, shopping, dining, and gave us a personal tour of his homeland with all of the history. Saved big $$$$ doing this.

One of the BEST vacations!!!
My husband and I went on an overdue honeymoon for 5 days and it was SUCH a great place to spend our time. All of the staff was so great. Everyone smiles and says hi to you. We learned that if you tip your maid right away, she really takes care of your room for you. Tip the bartenders too and they love you...and they don't mind wet bills from the swim up bar! The water from the beach is a little seaweedy, but the two pools really make up for it. The bed wasn't very comfortable, but that is really the only complaint! There are planes overhead a lot, but I got used to it VERY quickly and didn't bother me at all. I liked the fact that we were that close to the airport for a quick drive to our resort. I can't say enough how great all of the staff was. The nightly entertainment was fun too. It was definitely worth the $$ that we paid. I wish I was back there now...

1st time at Riu
Great resort for the $. Beautiful beach & giant pool area. The jerk chicken stand was amazing. Room needed a fan in the bathroom and the planes overhead got to be a little annoying at times. Overall we give it 4 out of 5

Befuddled
Wouldn't Stay there again!
Their idea of oceanview room was at a corner of one of the buildings where you could see a little water through the trees. Directly across from the dinning halls which were extremely noisy from about 9am - 11 pm. Could not sit on the balcony because of the l;ound noises of dinnerware clanking, 100's of people talking and kids crying. What a waste of a vacation and $$$'s. Ended up eating out 3 of 4 nights. Quantity yes, quality no.
