Older hotel, but up to Ritz standards

This hotel is a little older than some hotels that we are used to, but has a PERFECT location and a staff that was attentive to every whim. The ocean suites were big enough for the whole wedding party! Two HUGE rooms, two bathrooms, two balconies...incredible. I will stay at this hotel in Montego Bay whenever we return to Jamaica. (The ballroom was one of the most beautiful venues that I have ever seen, and the wedding planner, Marcia, was a huge help to my niece and the mother of the bride, my sister. I would highly recommend the Ritz for destination weddings.)

Elegant tropical escape with Jamaican sun & smiles

The facility and grounds of this resort are truly lovely and very well-maintained. The suite accomodations are particularly spacious and good for families. The food is not stateside gourmet, but it is quite good--better than it used to be. The unquestionably best part of the resort, however, is the ever helpful, ever friendly staff. I think they might say "welcome back!" to everybody because they know that once you have been there, you will return.

Fantastic Time

Great resort and value for the money. Really good food at all the restaurants. We did the Excape To Luxury Plan, which is the way to go. Only issue was that they did not have babysitting at the Ritz.

Underwhelmed

Dure my recent stay at the Ritz in MoBay, I was extremely underwhelmed. There was issue after issue with our stay. There were multiple issues with our room upon check in and when we were excorted to it. Lastly, to top it off the overall exprienence the food is sub par. This required us to leave the hotel every evening for dinner. Breakfast is the only decent meal at this hotel, but expect to pay $$$$ for it. I travel very much for business and stay in many hotels across the USA and world. This was the first time I was disappointed in a Ritz (but note not my first time in Jamaica). There is a certain standard which is expected of this chain and it was certainly not met in the Ritz down in Montego Bay.

Ritz in Mobay is Best of the Caribbean

Rooms were first class in comfort, decor and cleanliness. Staff is best in hospitality worldwide and always genuinely happy and smiling. Ritz Mo-Bay feels like home. World class chefs, best food in Caribbean, and lots of fresh coconuts. Would recommend for all to be first choice of stay in caribbean, rent a car or take hotel provided transportation and immerse in the beauty and culture of Jamaica. Very private secure and classy, excellent for families as well as clients needing privacy, security and Ritz treatment. Great beach and scenery, close to all excitement and fun of northern side of Jamaica. Great golfing at White Witch, Reside in Rose Hall and located beside Shopping, conference center, great house, Half Moon, and Palmyra. Excellent water sport. Hurry and secure your stay, Most visitors have been returning for years, The secret of the worls and ritz family. I have been visiting for over 10 years and will be back every six months.

Magical Jamaican Vacation

The staff at the Ritz Rose Hall went above and beyond from the minute we arrived at their beautiful resort. Everyone we came across from the chamber maids, to the shuttle drivers to the bar tenders and waiters greeted us with a smile and a warm welcome. I'd have to admit that after reading many of the reviews prior to heading to Jamaica I was somewhat skeptical that the service and the amenities would be similar to Ritz hotels and resorts stateside. Nothing could have been further from the truth. The room was spacious and clean with a beautiful view of the ocean and the resort grounds were beautifully manicured. The food was so-so at lunch time but excellent for dinner. The White Witch golf course was great albeit a little too hilly. The views from the clubhouse were spectacular as was the food at the White Witch restaurant. Angela, our server couldn't have been sweeter and picked out two excellent entrees which we selected given our indecisiveness due to the tremendous variety. Also make a point to meet Navar at the Cohoba bar by the lobby. Pours a great rum punch and made us feel like family during our stay. This was our first trip to the Ritz Rose Hall but most certainly will not be our last!

Head to Eve's Table at the Palmyra resort next door. Brand new restaurant with great food and service. Adds a little variety if you want to head off the grounds for an evening without paying an arm and a leg for a cab into Montego Bay.

Ritz-Carlton, Nice hotel but Not five star

My family and I stayed at the Ritz Carlton the last week of July, 2011. The hotel and grounds were beautiful. The staff were excellent for the most part. The beach was awful, rocky ...water shoes a must. The room was fine but the maid service was not good. Had to call on three separate occasions to have room cleaned after returning at the end of the day. I guess I would agree with other guests that the drinks and food are very over-priced. The food was awful, more like what you would expect from a 3 star resort, especially the breakfast buffet (lacked variety, poor quality of fruit, bacon was overcooked and greasy, sausage was colorless and tasteless). After 6:00pm, it is like a ghost village with the exception of the restaurant and Piano Bar. Definitely needs some entertainment. Oh yes, they did have a wonderful guitar/singer during the morning breakfast. Jerk Chicken on the beach was very good and reasonably priced, large portions.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

We found a wonderful private cab driver named Bobby. He took us to Negril, Ocho Rios, and other days trips. (i.e. Dunn's River Falls, Dolphin Cove, don't miss). Bobby also took us to local food spots. He is honest, very polite and helpful. We paid him a flat $ 100.00 USD per day (5 - 6 hrs) but your admission to attractions is extra. You won't be sorry and you will save a mountain of money. Bobby's cell # is 575 5426. Before I forget, he is local and they have a different concept of time!!!! (smile) i.e. if you want him at your hotel at 10:00am - tell him 9:30am and impress upon him you would like him to be on time.... As for eating, the Jerk Chicken on the Beach at the Ritz is probably the best I've tasted in Jamaica , large portions, very tasty and good value.

Spring Getaway

This was my first time visiting Montego Bay, and i think i made the best decision as to where to stay. When we arrived the staff had champaign waiting at the front door for us. From the first day to the last, the hotel staff were upbeat, kind, and quick to go out of their way to make our stay luxurious. Our room was spotless, everything except for the shower door which was full of grime.. but the reason for that was because we were upgraded and housekeeping was getting the room ready for us at the last minute. Going to the lounge and the pool, in my opinion, was the most relaxing part of the hotel and my trip. The lounge had wonderful music, delicious drinks and nice appetizers.. a very comfortable setting weather youre lounging day or night. The pool was never crouded, which was a plus.. only complaint with the pool was that there was no deep end, i think the deepest it went was four or five feet...which brings me to my other two complaints, a rocky beach and VERY EXPENSIVE prices at all five restaurants. I ordered an omlet and paid sixteen dollars for it.. the breakfast buffet was thirty-two dollars. Lets just say we ended up eating at local restaurants after the first two days of our visit. With all that being said, I had a wonderful time, the hotel is Amazing, the staff are out of this world and i give this place five stars.

If youre not ok with spending an arm and a leg for dinner, go to the front desk and ask for a menu to a few local restaurants and they will make your reservations and call for a free shuttle for you and your guests.. the Twisted Kilt was our favorite! For a cheap breakfast try going to the blue mountain coffee store at the Shops at Rose Hall, great meals and all under ten dollars.

Honeymoon in heaven!

This had the be the absolute best experience I've ever had on a vacation. All of the staff of the Ritz Carlton were incredibly helpful, welcoming and just genuinely kind to us. They remembered our orders from the evening before, called you by name and was always willing to go out of their way to be accomodating. Once you do an all inclusive luxury package with the Ritz Carlton, you will NEVER bother with anyone else.
