Fantastic stay in paradise

Sunset at the Palms is a fabulous place to stay if you want to relax in paradise! Excellent beach across the road (staff are always there to help you cross safely), great food, beautiful landscaping and wonderful rooms. if you want a change from gigantic concrete resorts with long lineups come to this resort and you will see! Get to know one of the great taxi/tourbus drivers (we picked John Wayne Tours and Garry's Respect Tours and both were great) and they will direct you to the best attractions at a good price (you need to negotiate a bit). We weren't crazy about Rick's Cafe but everything else was fantastic!! Jamaica is surprisingly friendly and locals really treat tourists well. We will be back!

Amazing value, great for couples

Sunset at the Palms was the perfect late summer getaway for my boyfriend and I. The all-inclusive price was unbeatable and the fact that it was late August made for phenomenal weather. As soon as we checked in, resort staff were bringing us fruit punch drinks and taking our bags. Throughout the week we enjoyed the buffet food and spent a lot of time at the poolside/swim-up bar, which is very nice. The bartenders were as friendly as can be. Our room was clean and our location was quiet and peaceful (except for the noisy wildlife!). The beach was about a 5-minute walk from our room and was absolutely beautiful. We even rented jetskis from vendors on the beach to get a better view of the area - definitely a highlight of the trip. The dining location at the beach had great food and a full bar, which was nice for the times when we had an appetite but didn't feel like changing out of our swimsuits. The resort was rumored to have a mosquito problem, but we brought a strong deet-based bug repellent which we sprayed on in small amounts before going out at night, so we had no problem at all. I had one bite the whole trip. We spent most of the week relaxing, but there are many opportunities in the area for activities (cliff jumping, scuba/snorkeling, parasailing, etc.). We spent our nights socializing with other guests and watching the bands - the music was consistently awesome. The only downside of Sunset at the Palms (and Negril in general, I suppose) is that it is a haul from Montego Bay Airport. Our drive was almost 2 hours by shuttle bus - of course it seemed longer when we were so eager to get to the resort! But the drive was worth it. All in all, a wonderful experience. We hope to return next year.

Relax at the Palms

Sunset At The Palms was so pleasurable! It was not to big like the huge chain resorts, but not to small either! The staff were friendly and attentive (in Jamaican time of course). Not a face passed environment, but there were activities planned daily if you wished to participate. The beach was right across the street, lots of room,& and it's not really that crowded this time of year. Just a perfect get-a-way! We would go back to SS at The Palms for sure!!

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Bring bug spray and/or citronella incense to use at your bungalow. Also pack a insulated cup for the beach. They sell them there, but it's cheaper to bring your own.

A Negril Gem

We picked this resort because of the unique treehouses as well as the smaller size. What a PIC!!!!!!! You could not ask for any better accomodations and super friendly staff. The all inclusive here is well worth it and we were not disapointed..I think in talking to other guests that going to Rick's or other famous spots to eat is over rated....go and see these places but eat/drink at the resort!!! The walk across the road to the beach is not even an issue and after the first day you do not even think about it. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms classy. Will definitly stay here again!!!

Wonderful Hotel

We have stayed in many other hotels over the years in Negril and Sunset at the Palms was the most wonderful. Loved the tropical grounds, mountains in the background and treehouse style rooms. Everyone who took care of us at the hotel was truly nice and wanted to help. We will definitely be back to this hotel. It captures what Jamaica is all about.

Quiet and Relaxing

This was a very quiet, intimate hotel. The grounds were beautiful and the rooms were very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food, for an all-inclusive, was pretty good. A couple of things we didn't know until we got there: all beer is from the tap and served in a small plastic cup (I suggest bringing your own cup), the beach was across the street but the hotel did have its own "section" on the beach with a bar/food (I didn't think it was a big deal to walk across the street), there are biting bugs everywhere so I would suggest bringing bug spray. Overall, we really liked it.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

Go to Rick's Cafe and watch the crazy locals dive off of cliffs. Great for an afternoon and sunset, but then I would eat dinner someplace else. Service was slow and food was just ok.

Nice......But could've been better

I thought the resort was beautiful, quiet and relaxing. Rooms were very nice, beds were comfortable, and the staff friendly. That being said here are a couple of things that I felt could've been better. Food- Pretty repetitive menu..I guess I just expected to be wow'd, and never really felt I was. Drinks- I was surprised that they only offered tapped beer..no bottles. This made it difficult to take any drinks back to the room with you, and left you with a long walk for refills. A fridge in the room would have been a nice touch too.
