ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel Hiroshima

I'm sure there must be some good things about the Crowne Plaze, but our cramped end-of-the-hall room and absurdly small "semi-double" bed trumps them. The room was booked as a double for two adults a couple of months before our visit. In our unsatisfactory interactions with the staff, the lousy room seemed to have something to do with with fact that we booked through a well-known website and was nonrefundable. That also meant that we could not get our money back and go somewhere else. The hotel was full, or so they said, so we were stuck. Bed was little more than a twin and so uncomfortable I spent the second night on the floor. We were offered complimentary breakfasts and free use of the minibar, but it was nowhere enough to make us try this place again. Book at you own peril.

Most hotels in Japan don't have a very good reputation for being new and having an accommodating staff (note accommodating is different than polite). This was an exception, the staff were helpful and very flexible about a late checkout. Also, their English was superb and they were very helpful with our last minute transit requests.

Business like hotel. Wifi in the lobby. The buffet breakfast was varied and delicious. Near the U2 streetcar stop from the train station. Go outside of the train station to find the street cars. Don't take the train at track one inside the train station as we mistakenly did.

Nice hotel but probably not worth the extra money. The rooms were western sized but the bed was hard as a rock. The hard bed is standard for japanese hotels but I went here in the hopes that it would be more western. The Sheraton Hotel in Hiroshima is a better choice for a western style room and bed although its location is not as good as the ANA Crowne Plaza. If I went again I would save the money and stay in a cheaper Japanese hotel or pick the Sheraton. Service was impeccable and restaurants were good but expensive.

The Ana Crowne Plaza is in an excellent location. It is walking distance to Peace Memorial Park and the shopping area. It is only a few minutes walk to a street car stop as well. The hotel rooms are large compared to other hotels we had stayed in during our holiday in Japan. The hotel is very clean as well.

The hotel is in close proximity to the Peace Memorial Park and Hiroshima Castle. The hotel room is very spacious and caters to all your needs. The one thing that is very disappointing is that there is an extra charge to use some of the hotel's facilities.

Pleasant courteous staff from check in to help with advice about were to eat, how to get around using public transport, etc. Room was absolutely quiet, perfectly clean and functional. Internet worked perfectly. Absolutely wonderful breakfast buffet on first flor, with mix of Western and Japanese food. it was one of 2 meals per day for me during my stay.

It was a pity to find there was an additional cost to have a swim or use the sauna. It is small things such as this that irks travelers and should be inclusive of the room rate. Other than that the hotel is superb.
