Decent hotel near peace park
This hotel provided a decent room in an excellent location. Situated right next to the peace park, Hiroshima's main sights were easily reached. Additionally, the view from the restaurant was stunning. The room itself was basic, and smelled a bit like cigarettes despite its "non-smoking" status. But was reasonable value given its great location and views.

For some reason, dinner ends really early and is very difficult to get into. So book at reception well in advance.

Japan has to get with the real world and ban SMOKING in Hotel rooms!! The Sunroute Hiroshima is a nice hotel , with great staff, and a great friendly attitude to foreign visitors. We have one complaint.. that there are no NON SMOKING ROOMS! There is always the pervasive smell of cigarette smoke in the rooms and in the halls. The beds are really comfortable, bathrooms are spotless, bath products are supplied, the rooms are clean to the eye, but it is the smell that brings it down. My rating of average for cleanliness is only because of the smoke. The views over the Hiroshima Peace park are exceptional, and the room I think was larger than the Sunroute in Asakusa.

Great location. Room was very good except if you don't smoke I suggest you ask for a non-smoking room as ours had a lingering smell of smoke. The meals were good. Great view from the dining room. Would stay again.

superb location overlooking the
superb location overlooking the Peace Park (though unfortunately our room faced the other way, but you get the view from the restaurant at breakfast in any case) and just a 10 min walk from shopping and bar area - good kaiseki oyster/fish restaurant just outside by the river. Quite good value for money. Friendly, efficient staff. Rooms not so small (by Japanese standards). Very nice breakfast buffet worth the extra price (nice range of Japanese options available, and in proper dishes too!) Would stay there again when in Hiroshima.
