I love hotels which feels like
I love hotels which feels like a real old time hotel! Fujiya Hotel is a must for somebody looking for this kind of experience! Not a Japanese hotel but a hotel mixed with old time Western and classical Japanese!

Stepping into History
We stayed at this hotel as a intermediate stop doing the Hakone tourist loop. The Hotel is a very easy 5 minute walk from the railway and the route has great signage in English. It was a great place to stop over before continuing onto the Hakone cable car--which provides spectacular views of Mt. Fuji. The hotel is in a time wrap that takes you back to 1950. That, combined with fantastic grounds and many traditional Japanese features make for a very relaxing situation. One of the front staff (Patrick) is retired US Navy and is most helpful with translation of both culture and other directions!

Dining tip:
In Hotel
The hotel does an amazing breakfast in the main dinning room. The traditional setting is awesome and the service is excelent. Avoid dinner at the hotel. They try to do a french dinner service. It is expensive and simply average---walk up the street to one of the many local eateries and you will have a great authentic japanese experience.
