Area description
Hotel de France is located on the beautiful island of Jersey in the Channel Islands. Well known as a major offshore Finance centre, for the TV series Bergarac and the local potatoes-Jersey Royals. Jersey is best known as a holiday island for its very agreeable and relaxed pace of life, along with a wealth of attractions and places to stay. Although only 45 square miles, the island holds a surprisingly varied geography with dramatic cliffs to the North, offshore reefs in the East, sweeping beaches in the South and wind-swept sand dunes in the West. Jersey also has a colourful history with monuments dating back to Neolithic times. Whilst part of the British Isles, Jersey is self-governing and has its own parliament called the 'States' as well as its own laws, traditions, culture, cuisine, passports, car registration plates and even postage stamps.

Large, friendly rooms, good to wind down

Hotel is within a (longish) walking distance of the St-Heliers shopping district and harbor. There's a bus-stop right in front of the Hotel, but busses are infrequent. Our room was large and well equipped. Breakfast (buffet) is copious. Spa is OK, but not mind boggling.

I was very impressed with this

I was very impressed with this hotel, it's enormous but the service is excellent. The spa is out of this world. The breakfast is one of the best I have ever had, a fantastic selection. We ate one night in the bistro and enjoyed a good meal. I was a little surprised of the size of the bistro it was comparably very small next to the size of the hotel. The only other choice was the a la carte restaurant which was only open certain days and was not so inviting. Loved the hotel in general and will definately go again.
