A sleek designer retreat hidden away in the hip cultural quarter of Riga, Hotel Bergs is a private hotel nestled behind a 19th century brick facade in Bergs Bazaar, with Latvian grand masters family portraits and contemporary art, haute cuisine inspired by local fare, cutting-edge conference rooms and relaxing guest lounges. Inside, an enticing colour palette of coffee, mocha and oatmeal successfully blends with art nouveau fireplaces, African wood carvings and large expanses of glass. Its relaxing atmosphere makes it feel more like a stylish modern home than a city centre hotel. The spacious suites feature executive work desks, functional kitchenettes, luxurious bathrooms, LCD screens and DVD players. Dine in award-winning Restaurant Bergs on the summer terrace overlooking the courtyard fountain. Outside, Bergs Bazaar is an architectural gem filled with cobbled streets, lively squares, quaint boutiques, art galleries and inviting cafes.

As good as it can get

Beautifully-appointed place. Very elegant. Big enough to impress, small enough to feel homely. Service is amazing - polite, efficient and warm. We stayed in one of the junior suites. Well-equipped and stylish.
